For those who wander, models of RX 6900 XT have been offered for 699-729 for a good month now.
Not here in the UK, unfortunately. The cheapest 6900 XT is still £780 and the 6950 XT is still £830 for the reference model.

I wonder when products lower down the range will get a discount.

AMD is setting up the terrain for the 7900XT. Double the performance, double the price = 1400€ :)

Thanks but i don't want the same driver nightmare as Intel.
AMD drivers have been as good as Nvidia's for almost a decade now while Intel drivers have been reported across the internet as needing lots of improvements. Either please provide a link to a reputable tech reviewer analyzing AMD driver problems or stop perpetuating this internet myth. This lie about AMD drivers is over a decade old and needs to die.

My stupid LG doesn't have freesync only g-sync, and some brainless guy(s)/girl(s) (I'm not sexist!) removed the workaround to get FreeSync working.

...the RX 6900 XT is a formidable 4K gaming graphics card...
Not really...Somewhat ironically (for being their almost top card), it's actually best suited for high refresh rate 1080p and 1440p gaming without RT:

That won't happen anytime soon, now that both will be on the same process...

Thanks but i don't want the same driver nightmare as Intel.
AMD drivers have been fine for years, wtf are you on about....

Glanced at my local Micro Center.

6900XT - currently 3 models available
  • MSI Gaming X @ $629.99 (only 1 in stock)
  • Sapphire Nitro Plus Overclocked @ $999.99 (only 1 in stock)
  • Sapphire Nitro Plus SE Overclocked @ $999.99 (2 in stock)
No 6800 or 6800XT in stock to compare prices.

Looks like, aside from the MSI card, it seems the 6900XT are still floating around that $900-1k price. Well, at least locally.

I have been on AMD since 2018 and had no major issues. Some slight bug there and there, but nothing more or less than what i had when i had Nvidia cards.

Drivers issues are overblown. And the control panel is at least usable and very modern versus the XP era crap that you get with Nvidia.

But that won't prevent me to get an Nvidia card if i think that is what i should buy next time.

It's true that they had issue with the first RDNA GPU like the 5700XT but they resolved it. I bought a 6800 at launch and it was stable from day 1.

Yeah lol and there is a whole 10 games to play proper over the course of 2-3 years time. And most likely you've already seen them all... totally worth $1k+

Especially nice is the 42 FPS in Cyberpunk. The true token of a real 4K card. Game got released in 2020 :laugh:

Im almost tempted tbh. Finally some real movement in the market.
Sure there arent a lot of rt games, but those games are a big chunck of the the main reason you upgrade your gpu. I mean - i only played 4-5 games with rt on my 3090, but then again the number of games that even required a 3090 to play properly were 10 at most. The rest i could have played perfectly fine with my older card (like apex warzone stray etc). So 50% of the games i upgraded for do in fact have rt. And in those the 6900xt is a 3070 competitor.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
Comparing performance/$ to a 4090 seems disingenuous; If AMD want to compare performance/$ against Nvidia, they should use a card at the same performance/capability level.

At best it competes with the $800 3080Ti in raster performance. In DXR titles it's barely keeping up with a $530 3070.

Additionally, it can't do DLAA, DLSS has better game support at the moment than FSR, and then there's NVENC which is vastly superior. If you do anything other than gaming you'll also appreciate CUDA support as so many applications support CUDA but not OpenCL.

The 6900XT is a good card, but it's not a 4090. Comparing it to the true competition shows that it's still awful value for money, like any flagship always is. Just buy a 3070/3070Ti/3080/3080Ti instead for better API support, equivalent performance, and much better features.

As someone who is generally favourable towards AMD and hates Nvidia for anti-consumer bullshit, it pains me to make the above post, but it's the cold hard truth.

Looks like we got plenty of nVidia spokespeople in the comment section.

Also, Ray Tracing is something that Huang has been trying to push for widespread industry adoption for a while now, and IMO, it never took off.

Also, the nightmare days of half-baked Radeon drivers are behind us now, so please find another argument to trash talk AMD.

What a bargain RX6000 series have become once mining stopped. That proves AMD's arch is much more efficient in manufacturing. Which allows for lower prices. I wish we had the same prices as US in EU though...

Back in 2018 Lisa Su said that their gpus will support Rt when they feel that they should. Their gpus now have RT, so it has nothing to do with huang. Lisa also is trying to push rt apparently.

Thats definitely not true.

AMD is supporting RT just for the sake of saying "look, we've got that functionality too". Their implementation is poor though, at least comparing to nVidia's. Also, very few games support RT and many new one's don't have any form of RT at all.

And if you're planning to compare Radeon drivers to Intel ARC ones, just to prove your point, like some other folks are doing 'round here, go ahead :)

In the last 10 years all my gaming cards where AMD and i didn't have any problems with the drivers. I keep hearing about driver problems, witch is an obvious try to slander AMD. I used only Quadro's for work and i had many problems with the drivers. Even simple things like coming out from the screen saver was a problem. The screen stayed black with no reason.

I don't understand how the EU pricing of the 6600XT/6650XT is so much higher than the vanilla RX6600. I can find €279 RX6600 cards all over Europe, but 6650XT are €399 for the most basic versions, more typically €430-€460. In the UK, I briefly found powercolor models down at £219 a month ago (€250).

For an extra 50% price, you're only getting four more compute units over the 28 in the vanilla 6600, which can also be very easily overclocked to near 6600XT/6650XT levels as it's typically the exact same silicon, VRAM, cooler, and board design. An overclocked RX6600 is within 10% of a factory-OC 6650XT for about €150 less money. It's crazy!

Quadro drivers are far from flawless. We don't use them much but they seem to have their fair share of issues and quirks.

Key word there is "You"

nobody I know is dropping $1600 to play 10 RT games.

Woah, stop the kool aid party there man.

years ago, did AMD "fix" their frame pacing issues? The frame pacing issues that forum users complained about for years with no resolution?

Navi black screen

AMD driver causing BSODs

AMD users ditching cards over driver issues

This doesnt get into the rDNA downlclocking, r300 black screen issues, the vegas burning out their PCBs, ece. How far you want to go down this rabbit hole? Until very recently, AMD drivers were complete trash, this is why the fermi series still sold so well. After rDNA came out AMD finally buckled down and fixed their garbage after yet more negative media attention.

...the RX 6900 XT is a formidable 4K gaming graphics card...
Not really...Somewhat ironically (for being their almost top card), it's actually best suited for high refresh rate 1080p and 1440p gaming without RT:

That won't happen anytime soon, now that both will be on the same process...
Hm, 4090 is only 31% stronger than a 3090ti. Someone must be upset that they didn't get FOUR TIMES PERFORMANCE. ︀︀︀:laugh::laugh:

I love how far people go off-topic just to prove their point. Lemme bring the popcorn.
