I currently have a 1070 and would eventually like to upgrade it. Maybe to something with 1440p capabilities, but definitely can manage 1080p. I was thinking of either the RX 6650xt or 6700xt. Any particular model recommendations?

the 6650xt is faster than the 3060 and if you drop some settings 1440p is no problem.
the 6700XT would be a better investment if you can pay 50-60 bucks more.

If you have a G-Sync only monitor an AMD GPU won't work with that....

6700XT if you can find one. The As Rock cards are usually the cheapest in my region. I got one for my niece (6650XT) and was impressed at how quiet and cool the card runs.

Agreed on 6700 non-X but the XT needs over 220W.

Thats nonsense. I have a G-Sync monitor (LG 34GP950G), and freesync works just fine on my 6900XT.
According to it's specs your monitor supports both G-Sync Ultimate and FreeSync, so obviously you don't have any issues....

My 1440p 165Hz Dell monitor only supports G-Sync.

that's not a G-Sync Monitor. it's a certified "compatible" monitor. AKA "we support freesync but will NEVER take the word AMD in our mouth.

a G-SYNC Monitor has a G-Sync Module in it and is 100% incompatible with anything else than NVidias G-Sync.

Always build from a solid foundation and then start. What is your current PSU.

Would a 2 fan be sufficient for cooling or is a 3 fan needed for these cards?
Two fans are fine. the reference 6700 XT cam with 2 fans
It Undervolts and overclocks with ease

the guy in these videos Fabio, has the Sapphire model like this AMD Radeon RX 6700 (sapphiretech.com) be aware I think there's 2 variants this is the other Sapphire Radeon RX 6700 Gaming OC 10GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk). The cheapest version is the powercolor fighter version. I also think XFX does one also - here it is XFX SPEEDSTER SWFT309 RADEON RX 6700 Gaming Graphics Card with 10GB GDDR6 HDMI 3xDP, AMD RDNA™ 2 (RX-67XLKWFDV) : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

basically you can undervolt this easily down to 140w

rtx a2000.

but thats slower than the 1070 ...
not by much and you get all the benefits of the 3000 series and 75 watts max power draw. no cables.

K but OP wants to upgrade, not gimp on some A2000 that who cares what the power draw is when it's a downgrade. Read the first post.
