Hello,

I have a 3090ti and can take it back. I will use the card for gaming, productivity, 3D design, 3D rendering, movie editing. The 4080 is faster than the 3090ti in gaming sometimes not buy lots, and faster with productivity. Does having 24gb of ram do better with 3D rendering more than 16gb with the 4080? Should I get the 4080 or just save and get the 4090?

Programs I will use are Octane, VRay, Blender and 3D Studio Max or Mason Cinema 4D

I prefer not to buy anything with a 16-Pin '12VHPWR' connector for reasons...

4080 is about 15% faster while using around 100 W less power, and has support for newer technologies.
So, yes.

If you have need of 24 GB, which is unlikely, get the 4090.

If anything behind gaming is business related. There may be worthwhile tax benefits you can claim that offset the greater cost.

Keep your 3090ti. For what you are doing the 24GB matters a lot!

It’s nice to have compute but if you are using large textures and dealing with large scenes then more vram is better especially if you are already ok with your render times

15% is crap. And you won't get back money spent on new card by "saving power".

You might just get the RTX 4090 for your returned RTX 3090 Ti (perhaps wishful thinking) - what did you pay to get the RTX 3090 Ti, if I may ask?

I would still have to pay about 400-500 dollars for the 4090
Based on what? Statistics?
Different software will use as much Vram as you can give. This card is not going to be used just to game. Its main purpose is Rendering.

Hi,
4080 and 4090 are in for a price correction/ reduction pretty soon.

Exactly. Your workloads are the very reason high VRAM cards are a thing. If 24GB ends up holding you back, 48GB and 64GB cards exist. The price is premium, but they get the job done.
Just food for thought.

You don't have to buy them from Dell though;
All of these are Add-in cards, meaning you add them to your system in addition to your existing GPU.

3090ti features a similar connector, so that option isn't really on the table here.

If you think splashing out $1300 just a year after you splashed a similar amount on the 3090ti is worth it because the 4080 is about 20% faster in games and apps then God help you and may God bless me with your money so I can spend it rationally!
He can return the 3090ti for what he paid for it...

Well yeah, if you can trade in for a newer card with better perf/W and sufficient VRAM, why not?

4080 is faster in most video editing/rendering, despite lower RAM.
4090 is on another level.

For sure -- the 4080 is better than 3090Ti - free upgrade.
