RTX 4070 Ti Price :(

I've just ordered a 7900XT, was waiting to see how the 4070ti performs but I realized that 1. It can't be any faster than the 7900XT at pretty much anything raster related, maybe in RT by a little bit, for what that's worth 2. I do other things besides gaming, it has way more memory and 4000 series has dismal FP64 performance (not that RDNA3 is a anything to write home about but it is 3x faster) and finally 3. There is no way it's going to be cheaper, at best the same price, possibly it's going to be even more expensive, even if we ignore these rumors. To be fair I feel like even the 7900XT is too expensive but given how crazy expensive the 4080 is, it's alright, I guess.

It also doesn't help that I really don't like Nvidia.

If AMD called the 7900XT a 7800XT and priced it at $650 USD there is zero chance they could meet the demand for that product, it'd be perpetually out of stock, scalped and among other things they'd be accused of a paper launch. Price it like they did... Well we saw what happened. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

so let me get this straight, they manipulated the supply to get rid of the old gen (there is still piles of 6000 series amd cards for sale, it's not just nvidia), they sell it at absurd prices, and we are suppose to thank them because there is stock this way?

sure there is stock, overpriced crap will always have stock. There is stock of everything here, even 4090.

That's why I buy AMD cards, better bang-for-buck cards imo....
I'm gonna be brutally honest here.

The last time I bought an AMD card (Asus 4890 1GHz with the phat cap) it was a placeholder until I got my 295 back from RMA (Thanks XFX :D )

It made all of my games look cartoony, and there was a weird white outline on things. And it blinked like crazy every time you breathed on the memory clocks.

I am even more hesitant on buying an AMD card then I was leaving Intel to come back to AMD for my main system.

This is coming from a guy who started with ATi, and would have never have bought an Nvidia card

and we are suppose to thank them because there is stock this way?
I don't rememeber saying that at all.

I'm not thanking anyone, certainly not AMgreeD for the 7900XT existing as it is, merely pointing out that a 2022 launch 650 USD 7900XT (bearing any name) is pure fantasy.

it is because they refuse to take a lose on the old gen cards (after running to the bank with the crypto money) and keep the prices artificially high. Greed makes 7000 series pricier and artificially low on supply.

Fantasy isn't the problem here, it's greed.

Oh absolutely no question is grees, my post was responding to someone saying AMD missed an opportunity and should have priced the 7900XT at 650 USD and named it differently, and that us pure fantasy.

When people say things like "the greed camp" I honestly don't know who they mean anymore, it could be any of the big 3, but for some their tolerance for said greed conveniently sits just above what one particular brand demonstrates.

They're all greedy but I think it's pretty clear who is the greediest of them all and by a lot.

People complain about the 7900XT and XTX, yes they're expensive, but the 7900XT is cheaper than the 6900XT was at launch and it's as fast a 3090ti, a card that was released this year and is what? Still something like 2000$ ?

AMD had the decency to at least not go above the pricing that they used to have, Nvidia did not.

being fair AMD isn't better then Nvidia, they just can't afford to be as greedy, people always prefer a nvidia card no matter what they come up with.

It isn't being less greedy, as much as they can't afford to be as greedy as they probably wanted to

So why even mention greed at all since apparently people are braindead and they pay whatever Nvidia asks ? I mean can it even be considered greed if your customer just doesn't care how you price your products ? It's not like you're forcing their hand.

Right..

And paying 1000usd for an AMD card is any different.

As for AMD, I would have to see one in person running in person, something I haven't done because I don't know anyone who runs AMD IRL.

Both vendors are gouging, but also selling out. So... clearly there's a market at these prices, as bad as they are.

I think both are going to come down quite a bit by mid year (barring any unforeseen wars).

Right..

You do realise most PC stores have demo machine in store.

I have used BOTH this entire 32 years gaming in equal measure both on and off for a year at most and I have Never seen AMD look cartoony compared to Nvidia GPU.

Might be time to leave your cave and have a actual look.

It'll make your points less biased (due to 0 Amd GPU exposure)as they unfortunately are and your experience more relative.

Maybe where you live.

Great! Lucky you :)

Funny, I will keep that in mind..

I'm not worried about being biased, it is my wallet in the end.

Of course it's different, AMD gets you better value, objectively.

Performance per Dollar FPS 3840x2160

Make use of the 2nd / 3rd hand market. Don't pay ludicrous prices for this stuff.

Can not Nvidia make more money by turning off gpu sales and go straight to super computers thus the the high price.

Maybe where you live.

Great! Lucky you :)

Fair enough.

Yeah it's not hard.

Comedy, as it's meant to be, a gentle nudge :)

I never said you were but it limits the wieght of righteousness I put on your advices, but yeah you do you, just don't expect your opinion on AMD GPU to be worth anything to anyone.

You can't not use something for years and years and still hold a valid opinion on present releases.

You'll enjoy your 7900XT. It's a good card. I enjoy mine. Haven't had any issues with it, no crazy hotspot temps, barely any coil whine and I think that the little coil whine I do have is from my mediocre PSU, and the fans are quieter than my PSU's fan. Overall, 0 complaints.

Not a chance in hell. Even if I wanted to pay a shitload of cash for a graphics card (which I don't), the Radeon 7900 XTX seems like a much better option.

but it limits the wieght of righteousness I put on your advices, but yeah you do you, just don't expect your opinion on AMD GPU to be worth anything to anyone.
All good my man. I only tune hardware. I have never been the guy to ask about new and emerging tech. I can only give advice on hardware I have used or owned.

I think by "greed camp" they actually mean themselves. Nobody forces anyone to upgrade every generation, and/or buy into high refresh rate, high resolution gaming, but some people just can't help it.

I mean, if you have extra cash to spend, go for it. If you don't, then just be happy with what you have, and stop complaining (you = general you). Nobody needs a 7900 XTX or 4080 just to play games at any setting.

what planet are you on? used market is just as bad. Used market is guided by the new, if all new stuff is crazy expensive it also inflates used parts

Ok I am from Serbia and we do have sometimes "crazy" taxes so you should expect lower price in USA if I could guess after calculating certain things 4070TI price probably going to be around 1050$-1100$ but can not be sure for the EU because it's always also more expensive then USA probably somewhere in between (1100$-1400$)......

Can we just sticky a thread called "4xxx Series Price Discussion" and be done with it?

We get it, the pricing doesn't make sense for most people. The cards aren't nearly worth what you'd pay for them. Get a 3xxx and enjoy all modern games at nice frame rates.

like the price of the 3000 series (new or used) are any better, at least in Europe
