Need help identifiying SMD ceramic capacitor on my GPU

I recently repasted my rx 6750xt (Navi 22 KTX) graphics card, and in the process of cleaning the DIE and sorroundings, i broke off one of the tiny SMD capacitors that reside in the GPUs substrate. I did salvage the unit, but my fear that it is cracked inside due to rough handhaving (puting it back in could short circuit). I have been hours researching, trying to find out which replacement i can get to solder it back on, with no positive results. I did learn a lot about pcbs and electronics, but that doesnt change the fact that my GPU now has a horrific coil whine once its under medium load (when drawing more than 100W from the PSU).

I couldn't find any information anywhere about which capacitors are used. I live in the EU, so there is plenty of options to get SMD replacements, the problem i don't know which exact capacitance/voltage i need.

Every advice that gets closer to fixing this thing is apreciated
 
If the salvaged unit is not cracked outside, it should be fine for replacement.

It is quite small, so i have no way to visualy detect any potential damage without proper equipment. Also, the cracks are ussually very smal. If do a run for it, i could risking a short circuit.

Do i have to remove the cap from the substrate for measuring? Because if so, it would be quite difficult.
 
You need a ESR meter to measure in-circuit-capacitors, but accurate measurement is not always perfect. Your better off operating it as-is before you do any more damage

If you are worried about the salvaged part being shorted, check the resistance with a meter; a capacitor will head to infinite resistance as it charges up.
 
Hmm.

I'm not sure if it's a critically important value. These caps are called 'Decoupling Capacitors', and it's more important to have many in parallel that work together to negate ESR and parasitic inductance.

That being said, I don't think missing a single capacitor in the big array would cause coil whine. I'd expect stability problems in extreme changing currents, not cool whine, if random capacitors went missing.

I'd probably just pick a decoupling capacitor, X5R or X7R, and then throw any that actually fit on that pad.

It won't be as good as the original, but it's better than a missing capacitor. I'm sure you are supposed to pick a low ESR/Low Inductance capacitor.
