What's your latest tech purchase?

Picked up few packages. It's like Christmas again :rockout:

The cost of the NV2 is very tempting isn't it? :)

During the holidays I wanted to see if I could build a decent PC during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. These are the parts and prices in Canadian dollars that I paid. This PC will be my Daughter's 6th Bday present so it is not just for show.

Case: Cooler Master HAF 500 White ($129)
MB: Asus B550XE- Wifi ($200)
PSU: Corsair TX850 Refurb: ($89)
CPU: AMD 5600 ($139)
BOOT: NV2 1 TB ($69)
COOLER: Deepcool Castle 360X ($89)
GPU: AMD 5600XT ($100)

Total $815

The MB comes with an add in card so I added 2 NV2 2TB for ($288 @ 144 each). I do have to rebuild it properly cable managed though. Just wanted to make sure everything worked. Funny story about the MB. I originally had purchased the board for $219 but that board gave me an issue and had to return it. I was at Canada Computers and saw the same board for $299 so I bought it. About a week later I was on Newegg and an open box was on for $200. The Canada Computers got packaged up. Canada Computers has a draconian return policy but when I got to the store the return area was gone (They are renovating) so all it was was a visual inspection. Once I got my return and used some of it to buy a White Wireless Keyboard/Mouse combo for $45.

Now that's a good one! I'd instantly get one for my 2nd PC if I'd get one for 100EUR :)

Since it's my birthday, I decided to treat myself and upgrade the gaming rig to 64GB of RAM (I brought the same kit again). It arrived yesterday and installed without a hitch. It seems my mainboard takes a bit longer to POST now (presumably because of memory training?) but boy is it nice to see such a large number. Did I need it? Absolutely not, but I wanted it :)

What was wrong with it, I was able to maintain a 12c spread :D

3c on my X5690..
Well, those were one of the exceptions. It looked like especially the 3570Ks were the ones that had poor die contact. I suspect the i5s of that gen even more than the i7s.

25m lan cable for ethernet on the first floor of my house

alright, compromise made ( @VSG the HiBy R3 Pro Saber was out of stock :D so HIDIZS it is ... sadly no RGB to make the sound more colorful  )

4 1/2 reason behind the choice,
1. it use HiBy OS (and player, Equalizer and MageSound 8-Ball aka MSEB are awesome!)
2. compact enough ( a little smaller than my first choice of a Fiio New K3, although the ES9218P is a lower "rank" than the ES9038Q2M in the K3, but is basically the same as the ES9281AC Pro of my KA1)
3. the price was lower than the New K3 or even the E10K-TC (98chf "is" lower than 99chf  ) instead of the 199chf normal price
4. well... it's also a DAP thus it can be useful sometime :D
1/2. it fits in my Fiio HB3 carrying case ... (in the upper half ... hence the 1/2 reason ;) )

HIDIZS AP80

well damn that's a cute one, even cuter than a Fiio M6 and it has a rotary encoder for the the volume

yep, perfect fit for a perfect portability

Reminds me that I got a SanDisk Sansa in 2010 and it supports FLAC, too. (IIRC) I got it on April 30, 2010.

Probably a Sansa clip+ or Fuze+ (mid 2009 and mid 2010 respectively) they , indeed, support FLAC
My first MP3 was 2000/2001 I can't remember the brand but I remember it using CF cards, I think it was a rebranded RCA Lyra RD2204

Although I doubt the Sansa supported that bitrate

But yeah Sansa was sensational at the time :D

I still use my Sandisk Sansa to this day, to save battery life on my phone when I am traveling and want music. It's an awesome little device, the battery still holds up well too after all these years. :toast:

Computer tech, my GPU. I bought a VESA monitor arm today, as the stock stand on my monitor is annoying me.

We have a member who is a retired gentleman spending precious time editing videos on a less than suitable system.

If anyone has an unused system, or sees a suitable workstation on ebay, at a fair price, perhaps we can point him in the right direction.

One can find a Lenovo workstation with 14 cores, 64GB memory and 1tb ssd on ebay for around 300-400 which isn't a bad deal. I was looking at them the other day, sorry I dont have a link.

Yeah it wasn't a great deal. But one of these cards idles at 10W, while the other one idles at 90W.

And here we are, right back in leather jacket man's bosom after escaping for 29 days

4070ti and 7900xt.jpg

hilariously, i put two A770 a ASRock Phantom Gaming and a ACER Predator Bifrost on wishlist at my local retailer online shop ... i feel dirty to even think that... but the ACER is so damn sexy ...
but the ASRock is literally 110chf less

this is why i did not wait new release and got a 6700 XT (idling at stock between 5 and 10w i just noticed O.o )

how much was the 4070Ti?
