What's your latest tech purchase?

I find those Arc cards to be just so incredibly pretty.
and incredibly "not well built" sadly ... but pretty they are, i do agree
lucky AIB have custom designs

hilariously, i put two A770 a ASRock Phantom Gaming and a ACER Predator Bifrost on wishlist at my local retailer online shop ... i feel dirty to even think that... but the ACER is so damn sexy ...
but the ASRock is literally 110chf less

this is why i did not wait new release and got a 6700 XT (idling at stock between 5 and 10w i just noticed o_O )

how much was the 4070Ti?
Yeah my 6700 idles at about 4~9W. Technically not idling on the pic, as I have a video playing in the background and an android emulator running.

Single idle monitor is never the problem, 7900XT did 15W when only one monitor

4070Ti was 1100, 7900XT was 1150. XT was definitely the better deal, but I'm done giving my money to lazy schmucks who won't finish their drivers

Ah yeah multi-monitor idle. I remember on my RX 480 I was at like 30W idle with two mixed refresh rate monitors. They used to hold back memory clock before on multi-monitor setups and idle consumption was quite a few less W, but it flickered a lot. I kinda remember that is why memory clock is set to max speed when two monitors are connected.

ahah i also have an Android emulator running and browsing, so, yeah it's not really idle

I do as well. The most surprising part about it is that it's from Intel. Not normally known for attractive design choices. :)
yep surprising, but also pleasing, they listened and improved what was wrong with ARC (no ... i am not implying heavily "Raja" ...) glad to see them keeping at it

now ... if only Nvidia would get a kick in the "reality nuts" and AMD would sort the 7000 serie issues, that would be nice too

ahhhh ok multi monitor, hum yeah not AMD strong suit... either way, as long as you are satisfied, it's all that count, right?
to me the lazy schmuck driver wise always been Nvidia (lot of rollbacks and i never stayed long on "latest driver" with them  ) ... but recently after the 7000 series driver on 6000 issues which turned to a "latest driver for the 6000 is 31.11.2022" (well not a big issues ... all works well and, hey! latest driver is still the latest driver, right? no? ... okay

ah yeah ... mentioned it in "what are you playing" but i technically bought that also

Yeah it wasn't a great deal. But one of these cards idles at 10W, while the other one idles at 90W.

And here we are, right back in leather jacket man's bosom after escaping for 29 days

preach :rockout::rockout::rockout::rockout::rockout::rockout::rockout::rockout:

soon it will be mine as well! AMD just ain't got what it takes

watching youtube videos though you are still saving 80 watts, etc. so meh

Is Cowan dead?
Mine died some time ago, and I want to buy a quality replacement, but it’s hard to find the quality, size, battery life (20-30 hours) and price of the of the old Cowans iAudios.

My old one bit the dust when I got my OLED. It was 5 years old I’d say so it lived a good life. But I do beta test and having this cable eliminates it as a variable.

Edir: Crap I didn’t pay attention it’s a 4m BEAST!

I mean I still have my old 2m one here somewhere I should see if it's because of the length...But I can show you the cable that came with my OLED vs this monster

Computer tech, my GPU. I bought a VESA monitor arm today, as the stock stand on my monitor is annoying me.
Monitor arm arrived \o/

Finally don't have to use the chonk stock one.

Latest and greatest...

Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34" QD-OLED curved display (3440x1440)

...its frickin awesome

I'm out of money, gents! I got supplies this month for what I have already. Looks like it will be spring when I can afford something really big!

I got one of these: https://www.newegg.com/p/17B-0461-0...rge-_-9SIAUSRHHU3805-_-Product&quicklink=true

My old Prime 8 outlet surge protector was more than full. I needed something capable of running two computers, some game consoles, and some USB stuff (adapters no longer necessary with the handy USB ports). The old Prime went in the basement where it runs one computer, a monitor, printer, modem and router. The coax gets used to protect against surges through that as well. The new Superdanny unit lacks that, but it's not necessary where it is, either.

Got myself the Deepcool AK620 ZERO DARK. The Noctua killer. for a fraction of the price. I refuse to pay a horrific Noctua tax for dated meme hardware.

Not the best in the market but very good for the price.

Does this beat the ThermalRight FC140? I can't find any in USA with black heatpipes, the ones on Amazon here are all silver... hmm. Strange.

I have no idea, but I know for a fact that the AK620 it's slightly better than the other Noctua killer, the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE. The Thermalright PA 120 is cheaper than the AK620 and I would have totally bought it but there is no distribution and warranty service in my country so I opted for the slightly more expensive, but also better AK620.

If you're interested in Thermalright coolers, I would suggest going for the PA 120 SE, it's cheap, has more heatpipes and it is more recent than the FC140.

edit: Forgot to respond to your other question:
The black version is called ZERO DARK

It's a bit more scarce, because it was released last autumn. But a big bonus is that it contains LGA1700 mounting kit, unlike the 2021 non-black version.
I'm guessing that now that the Chinese New Year is over, these should be restocked soon. Just a guess. There is plenty of Zero Dark inventory in my country, strange that US is out of stock.

I already have a FC140, I got it for $40 on a lightning sale. I was just curious, sorry I did not make that clear to begin with. Did not mean to waste your time. They probably match each other, because I know this one matches the NH-D15 from what I understand.

on topic: recent tech purchase is an electric blanket from Serta brand. it's best tech purchase of my life. Made winter bearable, and it costs pennies to power it.

FC140 does beat out the AK620, but only slightly on Intel where slightly less dense, as expected results are even when tested on AMD. FC140 may have 5 heatpipes but they are 8mm units.

Funnily enough, the AK620 weighs more. Anyhow, AK620 is stout and TR availability varies wildly depending on region
