And I still wouldn't buy it with so many being faulty.

No issues with my two, but I also have the older revision with the Phoenix controller for what its worth.

there's been evo plus defects?
all ive heard of are 870 evo, 980 pro, and 990 pro that are failing, no reports of 970 evo plus yet

I have a 970 EVO (non-plus) and I was daily driving a old '09 Mac Pro at the time. When the 970 EVO Plus came out I remember reading a lot of Apple users had issues with it, had to do with the drive's firmware. Like it couldn't be formatted properly and/or then would operate like garbage on macOS. Was the cause for locking up systems and kernel panics etc. The big problem for most was you cannot update firmware unless you use Samsung Magician which was Windows only....it was a bit of a conundrum as not everyone was savvy enough to 1) check what firmware version they were on and 2) update firmware if needed. It was eventually corrected by Samsung, (through firmware) but it was not something to do with the hardware failing, it was about compatibility. And since this was exclusive to Apple systems, even less people would know about it, particularly on this forum

Newegg is even less (today):

Hi,
Even on amazon same price
Looks like a dump sell on pci-e 3x4 m.2's
They do need a heatsink.

I don't recall the 970's having many issues. 870's and 980's that I know of.

At these prices I am also considering if this ( ) is worth it. I can live downgrading my GPU to 8x to support this card running 2 NVMe's however I'm not sure if TRIM will be supported if I RAID0 it with windows storage spaces.
