EXTREMEHW invites TECHPOWERUP to First Annual 96-hour Folding Challenge March 17th 0000 UTC

Wanted to give a big thank you to TPU Staff(@W1zzard )/Users for being so helpful with this competition. Thank you Damric for getting this published outside of EHW. We really appreciate all of the love coming out of this endeavor.

@ThrashZone So this is where you've been hiding.
Hi,
Yeah I wouldn't say leaving a shit hole like ocn is hiding

More like choosing way better designed/ moderated mostly grownup forums choices
Good to see one of the nicer ocn members again which there were only a hand full.

I appreciate you saying that. Thanks bro.

Probably an interesting list of folders
Indeed! We've never had this much participation before. In large part by members of this forum!

Hi,
jpmboy not folding :/
Well I thought I would recognize more names there but I do not.
My gear is pretty much the same as three years ago so tad old for folding.

All good brother. Sorry to hear about the Parkinsons diagnoses, I know that can be tough to come to grips with (20 year Nurse here). Though, some Parkinsons WU's yield pretty high PPD :)

I am not diagnosed yet, just to be clear. It will probably be a few years before I know anything one way or another. I am not sure if there is a DNA test that can test for it or not, my Doctor hasn't mentioned anything to me yet.

I do miss JPMboy, I haven't talked to him in quite sometime either. It's not to late, even with three year old tech. If you can get 10 WU's in by tomorrow at 8pm EST, you will qualify for a prize.

Ah, gotcha. There is a genetic component attributed to Parkinson's, but I do not know much more than that or what exactly the testing entails.

Hi,
Think all of the format changes ran a lot of people off ocn they just kept screwing it up over and over and packing it with more crap lol

Just over 6 hours left, bro.

I was expecting to get more points. First day my breaker popped during the night. Next day the PSU running 3080 + 3080 Ti kept tripping. 1200w PSU only using 700 :(

Hi,
Yeah damn I'll have to look up the hardware these folders are using one day.
Cold front came in last weekend in Houston so but saw this thread way to late in the game.

Bad thing is I've been loosing internet around 9:am everyday for a few minutes

We still have smaller monthly foldathons (48-hour) where prizes are just whatever stuff people are donating. The next one is the end of April but I have not made official announcement yet.

Once again I'd like to thank the members and staff here for helping us out with this. It has been a huge success.

We have a few more hours before the contest wraps up, then I finalize the prize draw eligibility list and send it over to @Avacado to do the actual drawing. He's got some nifty wheel of fortune thing he showed me that spins and picks the winners.

Hi,
Yeah think my internet issue is a win-11 thing but keep forgetting to use 10 or 7 and see if it happens there to.
But then again likely just xfinity doing something silly the same time of day :/

We're waiting for the 2nd place winner, the guy from EVGA forum to pick his prize. So please be patient. Once the top 3 winners get that out of the way, we're immediately doing the random prize draw.

Out of the ~60 participants, I think we counted 41 eligible for the random draw of 33 prizes, so very good chance. A handful of people opted out, didn't quite make 10 WU, or were just doing it for tribute/glory.

It was an absolute bloodbath for top 3 spots. #3 place changed several times throughout the day, and #1 and #2 must have been making the neighborhood lights go dim!

Edit: List of winners. I see at least 1 TPU member there. @Avacado will be uploading a video of the draw soon, but I'm going to bed. Congrats!

I'm sorry you missed our big annual event, but we will have another smaller event at the end of April. We do 48-hour monthly foldathons with donated prizes from members.

Definitely need it when it comes to folding on newer cards!! Costs a small fortune over here!! :(

Looks like TPU took 3 prizes. Be sure to send your shipping info to me or Avacado depending on what you won (see the thread OP at EHW).

Hopefully you guys will be inviting us to something fun next time :D

Ok well we had a small complication, but it's going to be a boon for techpoweup.

We had a contestant fail to meet the 72-hour deadline to claim his prize.

Thus @Avacado had no choice but to spin the wheel again.

Congratulations @mx500torid you have won an EVGA Z20 Keyboard. Get me that shipping info ASAP so I can get the whole list to Jacob at EVGA.

@damric the drawing would have been cool to see live. Its silly, but entertainment
I was also for this but alas it was not possible. I had already gone to bed, which is where I'm headed now and it's not even 9pm :D
