What's your latest tech purchase?

Got a SMS that my order has arrived; an active DP->DVI adapter so I can get 144Hz out of my 2nd screen, a 2m dual link DVI cable and a wrist rest. I'll post some unboxing pics when I've grabbed those in few hours. :)

Upgrade for my spare workstation (HP Z440)

Intel Xeon E5-2696v3
It was 65 usd from ebay. 18 core 3.8ghz max turbo.

Got a new tablet, with physical keyboard and a digital multimeter. Concerning the tablet, I thought that given the Mediatek SOC and an unlockable bootloader that setting up root would be easy.... not so much. Kinda pissing me off actually. It's a decent tablet, but without root, it's usefulness for me is limited.

Also needed a few new microSD cards and BestBuy was having a sale. $14 for the 128GB and $26 for the 256GB. Hell yeah!
So you didn't buy the "affordable" Kubuntu laptop ?

I have no need to upgrade my main Sys CPU anyway (10400F) i play on half refreshrate 72 FPS 0.1% min.

So i bought another 32GB DDR4 Kit for the i7 10700F (@ home Server) to host a few more VM.

Now it host 5 VM:
One for Discord
One for old OS and drivers for compatibilty
One for external Network streaming
One for in Home streaming
One for CAD

No need to upgrade the internals? Get new peripherals then

A DAC? I'm not so familiar with audio things.. :D
I'm an internal sound-card guy, but I have heard a quality DAC and I can see why people like them. The nice thing about an external DAC is that any device with a USB port can drive them.

What does that have to do with the price of beer? Or are you just taking a jab at me? To answer your question, no I didn't buy the Kubuntu laptop. Not my jam. Just because I don't want one doesn't mean I can't understand why such a laptop is great thing. YOUR failure to understand that is YOUR problem. So how about you hush up and quit picking a fight before the mods help you out with that.

I would be too but I got my DAC for free from my friend :)

EDIT: To be fair though, I am looking at the Galaxy Tab5E.

I have one i'd make a killer deal on, PM me if interested.. Was really only used as a drone controller for a while until i started using an old galaxy phone.

Free is a good thing, especially from a friend!

Definitely. It wasn't free, but I paid my friend £60 for an FM2+ system back in 2016. Nothing special, even back then, (A8-6600K, 16 GiB DDR3-1600 and 1 TiB Seagate HDD) but I was coming from a Core2 Duo laptop from 2008 that had a 3 GiB memory limit.

my steam dock arrived today for my steam deck.

i am too lazy to take a picture, but yeah I tested it out it all works great. only cost me $7. $14 sale price sold out within an hr, was lucky to get one. then on top of that, my Dad went half in half on it with me. he just does that sometimes randomly, no idea why so eh, $7 for a steam dock, I'll take it!

link to the sale I got, the 40% coupon went to 20% after one hour, so I was just lucky on my timing is all, lol

Just bought a 5700X and upgraded my 6 years old 1700X.
After a couple months of research and thinking whether I needed the upgrade, I made a decision to maximize the AM4 socket.
Thanks to the release of 7000 series, I grabbed the 5700X for US$200.
Updated the BIOS, gave it some time, and it booted smoothly.
Previously my RAM only maxed at 2800Mhz otherwise it would not boot, now it's 3200Mhz with just enabling XMP.

I was skeptic at first that this upgrade will make any difference since I'm playing games with GTX 1080 Ti at 3440x1440 res which many told me that it's GPU bound.
HOLY! It does make a big difference. I got stuttering and fps drop in some non AAA games in condensed part of the map, sometimes below 50 or 30 fps.
Now those stuttering are gone, and I get higher fps!! I can't believe it.

This is why I love AMD. Just some BIOS update, new CPU, and voila. I'm sooo glad I did not go with Intel.

any reason why you did not spend an extra 100 on the 5800x3d? 1700x to 5800x3d would have been insane. still a good upgrade though :toast:

Thanks! I only have old GTX 1080 Ti, so 5800X3D is overkill for me. 5700X is a perfect balance between my needs and budget.
The moment I want to upgrade my GPU in the future, I'll probably upgrade the whole system anyway.

Also it's extra $155 for 5800X3D here..lol

My birthday is the day Asus PG27AQDM OLED 27" shipped !.. today.

Holly grail, i can't understand how to mount it... edit: ohhh it was VESA bloack...

... well OKay, i found missing plastic part stuck in the polystirène... it's a magnetic plug, no need screws, i removed/replaced ROG logo piece with transparent one :p

Having VESA mount kicks ass, I can't even imagine using stock feet on monitors instead of this dual monitor arm.. :D

Damn, I am envious of you who can get new tech without an astronomical markup. Twice envious for this being an OLED monitor (I've got an OLED TV, but my monitor is "just" a good VA).

My old Asus ROG 4K monitor had this feature with even more lights on the back never used it, disabled it all.

I sold it and went back to 1440p better for my eyes and enjoy my LG monitor everyday:rockout:

27" 1440p is the sweet spot I agree

My main reason was I am using glasses and had for years plus my eyesight sadly ain't getting better so 27 even 32inch 4K was too small for me in the long run but I have tried it and also concluded with myself the hardware to run 4K I do not want to pay it's too expensive and 1440p is a good balance.

Plus I only used like half of the real estate that 4K really gave me

4K is awesome for movies and series that supports it why I got my oled tv but I do which a 1440p 27inch panel with good colour and 600 nits if not more wasn't so ridiculous expensive.
