I7 9700k

4.2 GHz all-core; set and forget. You shouldn't even need to tweak voltage.

From Anandtech's initial i7-9700K review, YMMV:

I ran one of those for 2.5 yrs on a hi-end Z390 mobo @4.9ghz on 1.15v with 560mm AIO push/pull cooling, in a TT900 case, with lots of airflow, neveranottaproblemo :)

I plan to leave it at 5.0 for a few years, do you think it will last long enough?

there is no "recommended overclock"
every single die is different... try it out.

but! use a low LLC with at least 50-80mv of VDroop and a higher idle voltage. that's a lot better for stability and depending on the board will not fry your chip because of the insane transients you get when your VRM tries to fight against the laws of physics.

maybe, maybe not, see the comments below

^^THIS^^ see that's the thing that will drive you nuts every time... On my chip, I never messed with all the other stuff (I could've but didn't wanna unless it was really necessary), I just set the voltage & the speed, and bam, free performance boost :)

ran mine at 4.9 all cores for years with no issue, easily could have done 5.0 or 5.1 if I really wanted to play with it
but like others have said, each chip is different buy you should hit 4.9 easy unless you just have bad luck

What do you mean bad luck? that the chip can not reach the desired speed? and it's just a matter of luck

another question when doing oveclock all the cores will be 5 ghz?
