NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Founders Edition

Not open for further replies.
For nVidia to boast about 1080p at 400$ in 2023 it's truly disgusting. Especially while taking into account the performance increase of a 4060 TI over RTX 3060 TI:

As can be seen above - it's even surpassed by 3060 TI in some games at 4k. :kookoo:

when i bought team red, it was preferably sapphire for me.
That one i hate, i had a 280X die on me. MSI, Asrock, XFX, Powercolor have been rock solid for me. And on nvidia side MSI, XFX(long time ago) and Nvidia itself with the founders.
Back to topic, it's very concerning that techdeals tweet about textures. I tought (by benchmark results) 4060 Ti was better(performance wise) than the 6700 xt.

Also I did not dance around words. I asked a question about Nvidia paying you off, because the conclusion. Which was a fair point, probably every other reader who saw that badge, asked same question in their head.
You clearly got offended by that mark, which shows there is something there and then, rephrased my question to actual 'I claimed' to make me as a bad guy.

Mate what on earth are you on about? Thats not just a question thats a school playground discourteous statement concealed as a question, either way its an unwarranted indefensible accusation. Over what? a badge? Even i didn't agree with the "highly recommended" award but to suggest this was produced through paid influence is just crossing the line. A bunch of TPU members disapproved and the reviewer removed the badge... what else did you want? A candy bar? Show some appreciation mate!

A lot of work goes into these reviews and it lands at your fingertips for FREE. A big fat juicy freebie with a wealth of info enough to feed the hardware enthusiasm in anyone. Why on earth would anyone shit on someones elses hard work based on a silly needless (or deliberatly shit-stir) hunch. The mods here are way too soft... if i were the TPU daddy and someone put a "failure to disclose paid relationship" accusation on me i'd ban their ass in a jiffy!!

For argument sake, if something doesn't sit right with you the reviewer listens, responds and if popular opinions override a subjective view he is open to amend, explain his thought process, etc. You should have used that medium to query the decision/opinion opposed to provocatively lashing out and rendering the author as deceptive.

Enough BS!
Stick to the topic.
Stop the insults.
And, stop discussing other members... discuss the topic.

Not realistic. Obviously yes that would be better value for the consumer but company-wise they would not do that.

At that price you would basically be telling your brand, your loyal fan base, and your shareholders that you're knowingly releasing a product that you have no confidence in . At that price it would also significantly cut into their profit margin which once again is a no-go

That's why I said they could have released it at the prices I posted and although overall not great it would have done no damage on all fronts (reviews wouldn't of been negative, shareholders wouldn't have been worried/skeptical, profit margins would have still been solid, still would have charged a premium price).

If anything, they'll just kill it off early, shortly after releasing a 4060 Super? Or just a 5050 at a lower price, it's often what they have done, just brushed aside perceived issues with some renaming.

Oh, my God. Jensen doesn't need gamers anymore.

Nvidia (NVDA) reported its fiscal first quarter earnings after the bell on Wednesday, beating analysts' expectations on the top and bottom line on the strength of its data center business. The company also said it expects Q2 revenue to come in at about $11 billion, plus or minus 2%. Wall Street was expecting $7.2 billion.

No Confidence?

They killed that when they set around the boardroom and somehow came to the conclusion a massively gimped mid-segment performer, almost magically 100% short of the 4080/4090's performance is the way to go. To make matters worse, its rather an overly ambitious confidence target to release a hacked-to-pieces mid-segment product whilst blowing the asking price out of the earths orbit (on a tightly knit memory bus too with intergalatic wings; less cache hits and less weight = faster space travel).

Not realistic?
  • hacked-gimped-artistry to save every conceivable dime
  • A thrashing ~100% flagship drop in performance
  • Uninspiringly trades blows with last Gen 3060 TI
  • Apallingly tightly knit MB~8GB with todays GFX demands in mind
  • Already showing limitations at 1080p quality settings
  • Unappealing for higher resolution gaming
  • Measly x8 Pcie Gen 4 (128-bus), potentially ~10%/more adverse performance on 3.0
  • FG/AI as main selling point - may the lord help us
  • All that in 2023 for 4 whopping hundred dollars to burden the budget crowd
IMO, N3M3515 is being overly generous with that $330 proposal.

A year ago, If you had asked me "which model GPU would best represent these specs/eventualities for the upcoming 40-series?", i'd be jumping up in joy "4050!!" "4050!!" - EASY PEASY! A year later, here were are a 4050-level cloaked 4060 TI going for a whopping $400 (or 16GB for half a bloody thousand dollars) and i'm somehow bafflingly eager to respond to witnessing someone suggesting a $330 ask is unrealistic.

With previous punts paid off, investor expectations at an all-time high, lets just face it nV threw in a big gamble and now its down to consumer willingness to fall victim to the dice thrower, which ultimately determines whether it was a good bet or not. Thats all it is "a gamble" theres no such thing as boardroom decisiveness to keep everyone (consumer/investor/SH/etc) in sync of reality other than the obvious "how far can we milk the docile sheep". In-fact the boardroom is busy with other non-gaming piles and piles and piles of corpulent income to worry about the poor old budget gamer.

I'm just genuinely cheesed off at nV and AMD for these horrible inductions we have come to know as 4060 TI and 7600. No exaggerations, utter abominations!

Come here, be my benchmark slave. Two weeks of fulltime non-stop benchmarking work every six weeks. The only alternative is to have 5 cards, 5 games, 2 resolutions, then I can retest every 6 weeks.
AutoIT is your slave.

I think you completely misunderstood. No one expects you to rebenchmark all those cards across all those games every 6 weeks. Just like no one expects you to do your tax returns every 6 weeks. (Well actually, in Germany, they do expect you to do it every 4 weeks! LOL). No, just to record in your database when the benchmark result was run, so that when the tables are populated, you can either show the date, or show a traffic light, green, last 6 weeks, yellow, last 3 months, red, very old drivers.

Although not as significant as other indices, imagine a FTSE or DAX index without a date.

"Higly Recommended" ????????????????????????????????? Come on TPU....... Its barrely faster then the 3060Ti
W1zzard is allowed to give awards to whichever cards he wants. It's a matter of his personal opinion since he puts in all the work.

BTW W1zzard, much appreciation for another great review!

I'm technically not in any disagreement with anything you wrote but my original point was NVidia image wise (especially with how aggressive they've been the last few years and the pricing of the already released 4000 series cards) where never going to release those cards at that low of a price even if it should have been what they should have done.

If these 2 cards bomb (which I'm sure all are hoping for) they'd rather phase them out with some mid gen "super" card then do massive price drops. Better for their ego and brand name to do it that way

If anything, they'll just kill it off early, shortly after releasing a 4060 Super? Or just a 5050 at a lower price, it's often what they have done, just brushed aside perceived issues with some renaming.
Pretty much. Better for the ego and brand image to be like "here's a new exciting re-interpretation/refresh " instead of being like "oh yeah we screwed up and jipped all of you here's a 25-30% price cut shortly after release where sorry"

Has anyone checked the price of a new RTX 3060 TI FE? Wow. And not interested in an open box or used mining one, for $300-$400. Maybe with all these poor reviews, I might be able to snag a new 4060 TI FE.

Its a review, not a personal opinion piece. Learn the difference then come back. Im not bashing W1zzard. I really do admire him and want him to do better, thats it

@W1zzard With more games using texture swapping when they run out of VRAM to keep framerates steady how are you ensuring your FPS comparisons are actually done at a like for like IQ and GPU workload?

Here we see the 4060Ti 30% ahead of the 6700XT but the IQ is not even in the same ballpark.

How would you report this kind of thing? Would you give the 4060Ti a DNR because it didn't display the same image, would you use that FPS figure but point out IQ discrepancy (that would impact the geomean at the end though) would you ignore such titles. Would you change settings to the highest playable and then test all competing cards at that lower setting. I don't see any good answer but it is a challenge you are going to have to overcome.
It's another quack quake moment. ATI was hammered on render quality issues.

It's your opinion it shouldn't get an award just like it's his opinion it should. Dont take your opinions for fact. Learn to respect other people's opinions.

It’s 25% slower than a 16Gb 6800XT with similar RT performance, but at half the power consumption, and louder.

The 6800 is about the same performance and price with 16Gb of memory and slightly lower RT performance.

So really is 8 more Gb of vmem worth $70?

Textures affect the game's core artwork and texture-based effects. NVIDIA's max path tracing doesn't turn Quake II RTX into Sony's Last of Us P1.

You bet it's worth it.

That's 33% faster. (from 6800 XT POV)

The real value of this card is at half the price. Not ever exaggerating.
The card is that bad. All other reviewers just completelly trashed this overly priced junk.

It could be worse, there was the RX 6500 XT. The card with 4GB of memory and a 64-bit bus. Now THAT card was trash.

Most desktop Zen 3 CPU SKUs did NOT include IGP, hence the need for RX 6300 (12 CU), 6400 (12 CU), and 6500 (16 CU) series GPUs.

All desktop Zen 4 SoC SKUs have at least 2 CU RDNA 2 IGP which is good enough to play Genshin Impact at 720p / 800 p medium settings and basic desktop office and accounting business PC roles.

AutoIT is your slave.
lol .. if you can figure that out, Linus is paying you a million dollars, he's been looking for this automation for years

I believe that a part of the problem is a lack of honesty from nVidia.

If this card is really a 4050, due to inflation and other reasons nVidia may need to charge say 370 for it today instead of 249, what 3050 used to cost 2 years ago.

Instead of clearly communicating and explaining the need to raise prices, they got a bad idea to present the card as a higher class card that used to cost a similar amount of money in the past.
Due to being my first post or containing a questionable word, my post needed to be first approved by a moderator, which caused it to be visible with a delay.

I believe this post is pretty important - some people simply ignore the economic reality, which means, that things today need to be more expensive than they used to be in the past. This needs to be part of any argument which involves prices of anything.

Ignoring this makes any discussion about product pricing completely worthless.

EDIT: This message awaits mod approval also, why is this happening?! I already swapped "stupid" from the original message with "bad".
