Dunno about you but I've got shit RMA'd even after the official warranty has expired, EU has some minor good things.

Warranties in EU and RMA´s usually are great here, as i said, i did not like it and did not want a new one to not like. And i regret everything about that purchase and did not want any more hassle with it.

i haven't touched an optical drive since wilma hit fred over the head with a homemade loaf of bread (basically donkey years)

Nice to see these babies are still in use though... i kinda didn't mind those one button click clunky and soft whizzy whirring sounds.

Born on date of that drive is Sept 2022. Apparently, if that drive doesn't have the firmware "adjusted," it will sound like marbles in blender while seeking

Got a 4080 for less than 950 due to "damage".
The pcb anchor was a bit chipped but works flawlessly. It's quite the deal I think!

That depends which country you are from. In the US used 4080s can be found for around $1,050 - $1,100. Given that your card has damage and PNY is not a brand that offers transferable warranty (not that you'd be able to claim warranty with that damage anyways) IMO it would have been worth it to spend the extra $100 to get a non-damaged card with a warranty. In fact if I look at the sales history for 4080s on eBay, you can see a decent amount going for $925 - $960 in auction or buy it now for those that are patient or have alerts setup. When buying 2nd hand ASUS and MSI are the only two brands where the warranty transfers. Gigabyte can transfer the warranty only if the seller provides the original receipt. Zotac is the worst, wherein they record SN and to which store the card was sent to in order to deny warranties. They don't have a transferable warranty and will refuse to send the replacement to any address other than the one listed on the invoice.

I found the exact listing that you purchased and the seller has a generic listing description and subpar pictures that don't explicitly point out the damage. Typically when you see an eBay seller take shortcuts like this when listing a product they also take shortcuts when testing the product so make 100% sure you verify the card's performance and specs when you receive it. A picture is not provided of the back of the card, so it's hard to tell if the warranty void sticker has been torn and the card potentially tampered with. The upside is that you purchased this card in the seller refurbished condition, which means you are protected by eBay for 30 days. If this card had been sold as For Parts / Not Working, eBay does not provide buyer protection on those purchases and there is almost no way of getting your money back in that situation. In your case, you can essentially return the card within 30 days for any reason regardless of seller policy if you don't like it.

Fair enough points! I had just been itching for a new card in tandem with very ideal financing. The card has performed admirably so far. You're right the photos is their listings seem to be a little iffy but they expanded on the damage whenever I asked for more details on this and other listings. Seems to be their thing is selling refurbed like cards.

I've got a USB BD-burner to make up for that. :)

Well I dropped all optical here at home because of how crap it is to be able to play blu-ray movies at one point it was easier to rip the bd disc on my computer and watch it then taking my computer apart because most bd player software only allowed Intel UHD Graphics so annoying so I brought a region free blu-ray player from Stegen in the netherlands he is really good guy and do a awesome job and changing region on the bd player for my tv is so easy even my parents can do it if they borrow it it's disc tray out click number 1 for Region A, number 2 for Region B and number 3 for Region C even a none tech person can figure this out

Optical media has its niche (especially in high-end audio), but overall it has become obsolete. Games aren't a done deal that will run off-disc anymore (especially true with live service games), streaming took over movies, so the good old DVD/blu-ray disc drive's usefulness has waned over time. There's a very good optical drive thread, that helped me look out for and buy a couple of super high quality Sony Optiarc DVD drives. Paid peanuts on them, and they're just about the best drives I've ever had. It's worth a read

Well before GameStop closed here I pre-ordred all the games I want there if they were avaliable but post of the time the disc of junk and was a gateway for Steam or Epic games where you need to download the game which was a waste of plastic.

I love getting games and movies discs and extras in my hands to see it all digital ain't the same but it's only heading one way and it's not like what getting saved on making things physical they save on digital no it's even more expensive from time to time which is sad to see.

I know my LG UBK90 ain't a high-end player but it's fine for my use on my LG CX OLED I use for movies, series and sometimes anime that I even might have on my Plex library but I still want to watch it on my discs instead.

The picture quality of 4k disks is generally not matched by streaming. So if you find an optical drive for it it might be worth it.

I also have a 5.25" SAS tape drive left.

But then my case for these has 11 optical drive slots :D

I bought my drive for backups. M-discs supposedly last a lot longer than standard BDs and DVDs, not to mention hard drives with a bazillion points of failure, or SD cards that can become unreadable without any prior warning.

Well I dropped all optical here at home because of how crap it is to be able to play blu-ray movies at one point it was easier to rip the bd disc on my computer and watch it then taking my computer apart because most bd player software only allowed Intel UHD Graphics so annoying so I brought a region free blu-ray player from Stegen in the netherlands he is really good guy and do a awesome job and changing region on the bd player for my tv is so easy even my parents can do it if they borrow it it's disc tray out click number 1 for Region A, number 2 for Region B and number 3 for Region C even a none tech person can figure this out
Got to be careful with that. Some drives only allow a certain number of region changes. I hope your drive is not like that. :)

I am now a proud owner of an RX 480 (8 GB). Only paid $50. My 2nd YOLO PC now only needs a PSU, an SSD, and some work on its case.

Compared this card (1100 MHz GPU, 8000 MHz VRAM) with my RX 6700 XT (2400 to 2500 MHz GPU, 16400 MHz VRAM) in Cyberpunk 2077. 2560x1080, high, FSR: Custom at 93% (provides with better image than native; FSR: Quality is 66% for the reference).

23 to 31 FPS VS 62 to 76 FPS. I don't think I need to explain who is who.

Getting ready for my 1yr maintenance. Going to add 1 rad to my setup, swapping CPU blocks, trying some new thermal paste, and making some custom dust filters.

1 yr wow, and here I thought every 6-7yr maintenance was lots/often enough :)

A 2 year old Corsair RM750X to replace my now dead Seasonic S12II-500. The Seasonic ran for almost 14 years 24/7 in my old server.

Phanbuey recently mentioned his electric air duster and i once again fell into the "must have" harrassing eagerness of buying one. All the better, it was nicely discounted. This thing was always in the £50/£60 region and currently discounted to £40 (if interested)

Great i've got something to do in the garden whilst enjoying the limited-time special edition UK sunshine.

I bought my drive for backups. M-discs supposedly last a lot longer than standard BDs and DVDs, not to mention hard drives with a bazillion points of failure, or SD cards that can become unreadable without any prior warning.

Got to be careful with that. Some drives only allow a certain number of region changes. I hope your drive is not like that. :)

The stand-alone bd player Stegen sells are modded with hardware so it's unlimited region changes and you can update the firmware of the bd player and the region change mod will still be active this is why I dropped the bd disc for computer and when to buy a modded stand alone bd player it's just easier to deal with than software limitations, because the region change setting in Windows is just a setting limited in Windows to 5 times than after you format or hack it you can change it again it's all software BS....
