I have a 2080 super and ryzen 7 5800x and need help upgrading. not sure if i should go with a 7900xt, 4070ti or 6950xt. dont really care about ray tracing that much. will be upgrading my cpu to a 5800x3d or 7700x. any help would be a great help. it took me over a 5 months to pick the parts i have now.

Wait for next gen GPU's, that 2080 super will do fine until new gen.

Hii,

Is really necessary this upgrade? what games or activitys u do? what monitor u have ?

4070ti is great gpu

7900XT

Pros
20GB of vram
Better Raster
generally cheaper

Cons
RT performance
FSR
Some people on this forum have had issues with this card and switched back to Nvidia.

4070ti
Pros
Decent RT
efficient when tweaked
DLSS

Cons
12GB on an 800 GPU is a joke
lesser raster performance in some games
poor scaling above 1440p

If you can live without DLSS and don't care for RT the 7900XT is the better buy imo.

I would skip the 6950XT.

This is also a sound option.

RDNA is worse efficiency, features and RT, FSR is also generally inferior to DLSS, and there's no DLAA or Frame Generation equivalent, on the plus side it's a bit cheaper, has slightly better display connectors and slightly better raster at equivalent tiers, unless you're going for the 4090.

Get a 4080 or wait for next gen.

Get a second hand 6800xt if you're fine with old/used cards & then wait for prices on the current gen to drop. I'd upgrade the CPU as well & try to stay on AM4 for as long as possible.

Eh, 5800X to 5800X3D is not a huge upgrade, I'd still do that rather than buy a mid range current gen card though.

If you don't already have 32 GB of fast ram and a good PSU, cooling setup etc. All round good build, I'd fix that rather than looking at new mid range GPUs.

2080S is still a capable card, unless you want 4K, in which case the cards you're looking at aren't great anyway. Since RT isn't a priority for you at this point, you're better off holding off on an upgrade for now.

It would help for you to fill out your system specs.

Bear in mind ray tracing performance is becoming more and more relevant, as its being baked into all next gen game engines, eventually it will be the default rendering technique in the majority of games.

ATX 3.0 PSU and good case/cpu cooling would put you in a good place for when you eventually do upgrade your system.

Only 20-30% faster in raster, slower in RT.

Was going to get into more racing and shooters. I do a lite editing once in a while. I have right now a 27 1440 165hz and 32 1440 144hz.

I have 32 gb of 3600 memory. A lian li o11 with 9 fans, with a lian li 360 cooler. A 750 psu

Sorry I messed up its a 7 3700x not a 5800

Probably worth to wait next gen but right now seems good this system.

Cpu no need change as for games need more graphics, suitable 4070ti upp or red house 7900xt

Edit: Hmm 3700x ..not so happy.

Have a nice day!

What res do you game at and refresh?
2080 Super is still pretty solid at 1440p as others have said, you could hang tight for a bit unless you need very high refresh or want to move to 4K etc

I would not get a 4080 over a 7900 XT, but that's because I value the raster performance above all else.
In that regard, they are $400 apart and the performance gap between them is absolutely not worth the price.

If you plan to game on both simultaneously, nothing short of a 4090 will be appropriate.

That said, they're mismatched sizes and frequencies, I'm assuming you use one or the other, so you're probably better off getting a 5800X3D for now and waiting till next gen. 3700X to 5800X3D is quite the upgrade.

Another thing to consider is a monitor consolidation, a dual WQHD ultrawide is a good replacement for two mismatched 1440p monitors, with different sizes and frequencies, especially for racing/simulation games. I personally use two 1440p 32", one for gaming with 240 Hz and one for monitoring and messaging with 60 Hz.

^ +1, the X3D will help a lot with 1% lows.
My setup right now is pretty similar to OPs and the X3D was a noticeable upgrade for me.

Seems you skipped a post...

Whoops, indeed!

Yeah 2080 Super will still hold up pretty well at 1440 144/165 (not sure which is being used).
It's not going to hit the higher end on more demanding games, but for a lot it's still fine.
