Laptop CPU overheating

Ok, so I posted this here since I saw there was 'cooling' in the name of this section. I've been using my laptop for a few months, and it's been having this issue for quite a while now, especially at idle. Did a fresh install of Windows 11 earlier for other reasons with no changes whatsoever (none really expected, either). My CPU has a TDP of 35W, but according to HWinfo, at idle (<10% usage) it hovers around 10W, which shouldn't really cause it to heat that much. Currently, it idles at around 60C, which is not normal, and I'd expect it to be somewhere around 50C instead. I dusted it and replaced thermal paste, and that only made it not reach 95C on single core. In Cinebench it boosts to around 4.4GHz (3.3GHz/4.9GHz for the CPU, IIRC), which is fine as far as I know. Multi-core shoots it up to 95C. Does anyone have any ideas as to why and how to solve it? Or is 60C fine for idle (probably not)?

6900HS......use GHelper and undervolt. Most samples should be able to do at least -15 easy.

Adjust your PPT in GHelper if necessary. Can also repaste with something good like PTM7950. 60C at idle is rather ass, my G14 does Youtube playback at 55C while completely fanless.

It does not have a vapour chamber like some other Asus laptops but still uses liquid metal from the factory. Sometimes factory LM application is not consistent and has poor coverage. What did you repaste with?

If you do not ramp up the fan speed in all-core work, temps will shoot into the ceiling. These are still laptops, reviews that tout good temps will most likely be blasting max fan speed. Might want to check what profile you're running (GHelper).

True, there was little to no coverage when I opened it up for repasting. I think I used a Thermalright paste, maybe TF4. Should I try something better?

I made a custom configuration with fans going up to 100% at 70C and setting SPL, SPPT and FPPT to 15, 35, and 35W, respectively, but for some reason it still goes to >60C, even at base clock.

Just buy a sheet of PTM7950 and cut to fit for both dies. Make sure your VRMs have good contact as well, use thermal pads if fitment is right or a thicker paste like K5 Pro.

If you use GHelper get rid of Armoury Crate. Armoury Crate is cancer. GHelper does all the performance functions Armoury Crate does.

Just cut to size. Should be some guides out there on repasting Asus laptops with it.

Looks like you will need to reapply K5 Pro to all your VRAM and VRMs. Can't just keep taking off and putting on the heatsink and expecting the paste on those parts to keep working.

I'm not aware of any. The only alternative is to figure out the right thickness of thermal pad then cut them to fit. Asus doesn't use pads from the factory. Have heard of MX-6 thrown around as applied on VRMs, but idk

Could try some Gelid Extreme pads, not sure how thick they need to be. At least they won't leave a mess like K5.

To be honest, the paste application still looks okay for now (at least where it matters). Maybe just repaste the dies with PTM7950 and see how things go.

Yes. You're putting an 8-core CPU in a laptop. The solution is to not put an 8-core CPU in a laptop.
 
If you like to see lower hardware temps, get a desktop system for gaming.
