fantastic, as soon as I see a professional review done I will gladly discuss it
* i see tom's did a review as opposed to the two click bait nitwits

looking at tom's gaming suite, you can make a case for the CPU as an upgrade for someone's pure gaming PC and pocket the extra $50 from the 5800X3D while not really seeing a real world gaming difference

Looks like if you're near a microcenter and can grab one of the combo mobo+CPU+RAM deals it would be a hell of a deal over an equivalent i5-13600k setup.

AMD stealing Intel's lunch in the low/mid range after Intel went through of trouble of adding (so many) more cores to their lineup :nutkick:

link to microcenter's testing, take it with a grain of salt but it seems to match what Tom's posted in their review

what will be the price in europe? I would have picked this one up instead of mine, but now i'm happy and not done with AM4

it's exclusive to a single tech retail box store chain in the USA, $229

Micro center actually has a 12700k with Z board and DDR5 for only 20 more dollars than the 5600x3d+ddr4+b550 combo

If you live near micro center it's actually not a good deal the Intel system is significantly better overall (better ram, better motherboard, faster overall CPU, ability to upgrade to 13th or 14th gen later down the road)

Good thing this is a limited run of a couple thousand 5800X3D rejects.

$100 more than a 5600 and $50 cheaper than the faster clocked and higher core count 5800X3D is a bad place to be.

If you're on a budget you get the 5600, if you want the best for AM4 you get the 5800X3D, who would buy this gimped "premium" six core lol.

5700/X can literally be had for cheaper.

Micro Center will sell these as bundles to get rid of AM4 motherboards.

At $199 this could have made sense for specific milsim gamers on a tight budget with no room to stretch for the 5800X3D.

At $179 this would be a good buy for anyone.

Sure the intel is faster for productivity, but not in games. How is the ram better? Will it make games have more fps? No. So it's a non-factor. How is the motherboard "better"? Does it support PCIe 5.0 ssds? No. Will it makes games have better fps? No. So it's a non-factor. Nobody is buying an X3D chip for productivity. They're buying it because it's faster and cheaper than intel on games.

Yea... Intel desktop 14th gen. Rebranded and clocked up 13th- what a big deal. That'll be $300 minimum for 10% in game performance max lol

Your opinion will not effect sales.

You know who are going to love these? People with anything from a 6500XT and up who have a 3600,5600 or 5700. Anything before that is automatic. I hope it puts pressure on the 7600 so that that can be had for let's say $200 Canadian or $160 US but that currently seems like a dream.

I don't like Jay either, but what's wrong with GamersNexus? Genuine question

If MC doesn't sell out the price will come down, it's literally all on them to move it lol.
~$50 isn't a whole lot more to move up to the 8-core, and for a lot of buyers it's an end of the line upgrade...

If only these were available in the markets that mattered. Restricted to Micro Centers and thus the regions with the best tech coverage on the planet, these CPUs are effectively worthless to the world at large. Not even worth the reviews.

I wouldn't because I can't. I got a red top ROG Dominator DDR4 kit here basically staring at me all day saying "buy an A520 board for me", this chip would do the trick nicely...

1) many of their written case reviews (done by Patrick) were (are) excellent but switching over from written articles to videos sent them in a direction I personally don't care for. They really have moved away from case reviews which I personally believe was their bread and butter
2) GN has moved away from being a site to really creating Steve as an individual brand similar to Linus.
3) in doing so the videos seem to be more focused on creating outrage, as opposed to educating, in order to get views through clickbait headlines and length of video in order to create more ad views
4) their fake outrage over the techpowerup article (created two 20 minute videos out of it)
5) their article were they deemed most CPU cooler reviews to be flawed and not trusted but since GN are about to start testing coolers they can be trusted
6) in testing a certain intel CPU they had results that were not the same as other review sites using the same exact game, they refused to explain their review process on how they got those results
7) Steve went from not knowing the first thing about PSU to being a PSU expert in a matter of weeks
8) I don't care for Steve's antics in front of the camera

Now I will be the first to state most of these are personal reasons and Steve is hardly alone in his youtube "business practice" but when it comes to my cup of tea, I get to choose the tea leaves.

This is why Wendell from Level one is my favourite Tech tuber. You actually learn things.

What channel was he a part of before Level one? The main guy had long black hair and kind of an alternative vibe. Wendell was the super smart guy in the back. They did great reviews and their PC building video was the best around.

I'm kind of hoping they don't sell out at my location, I'd like to get one and play around with it. I can't skip out on work tomorrow to get there in the morning when they open at 10am to buy one and I'm not going to trouble myself going through rush hour traffic after work to get one (if they still have some available). Hopefully they'll have some on hand when Saturday rolls around, if I can get out there....will pick up some RAM that I've been wanting, too. If I can't make it out there and these do sit on the shelves long enough, maybe a small price drop will eventually entice me to get one. Guess we just wait and see how it all plays out.

Honestly I could not tell you, I don't consume a ton of Youtube tech.

Sure the intel is faster for productivity, but not in games.
The Intel (at least on Tech powerup) should be slightly faster in games and a lot faster in productivity.

If the price gap was large ($80-100) between the 2 bundles, then yeah the 5600X3D is a no brainer but for only 20 more dollars the 12700K will be the more popular option. The AMD 5600X3D is more appealing to people who already have the platform.

I used to enjoy his vids, and thought he was a good kid a few years ago.

But now the tone has changed.. I still watch, but I have disagreed with him more than once.

all the hate towards Steve in this thread
