i just saw on my motherboard's manufacturer webpage BIOS update to AGESA 1.0.0.7b

Latest Chipset on AMD's website is May 23rd so it might include that with a few extras.
 
Here its -1.28.AS01 [Beta] - Update AGESA to 1007b.
No changelog or anything that may help understand what is in b. version...

For me it didn't boot on stock XMP memory settings, while the previous BIOS did (1.26.AS01[Beta]).

I'm going to try this out tonight. Considering DDR4-6400 barely works, not sure how 7200 will.

Could you check out your PCH/chipset temperatures for me please?
 
I skipped 1.0.0.7a and still on 1.0.0.7. and it works absolutely perfectly. Wondering if I should update to 1.0.0.7b.
ASUS claims "Improve system stability" so maybe there are some good behind the scenes changes.
 
I'm on 1.0.0.7a on Crosshair X670E Hero and can't get my board to boot into Windows when any EXPO profile is set - it simply boots to BIOS in safe mode. Running at stock 4800MHz is the only way I can run things right now.

Going to check and see if this update is on ASUS as well.

ETA: Just checked. Still 1415.
 
On ASRock side - i never update to "BETA" bios - only stable well tested versions. I got an old one and everything works like a charm from day 1.... So i was wondering if there is any actual improvements....
 
Probably worth mentioning the socket/platform its on in the OP next time, since theres multiple of them

EDC bug is no more. You can use past 140A without breaking turbo voltages.

EDIT. Wrong socket indeed. Fix was in I 1.2.0.A AM4
 
The memory controller is running at 2/3 the speed of what it would be it was at 6000mhz
2000mhz is less than 3000mhz.

You'll lose a little bit minium frame rates at 1% lows & 01.% low, you're overall average will still have higher frame rates

We will see. I am doing some A/B comparison tonight after work. But its not 2/3 IMC, it is 1/2 (Gear 2 -2:1). Just like AM4 and DDR4, only when you reached DDR4-5066 did it start to beat match 3600 CL14 once you pasted Gear 1. So if the same applies, we are looking at DDR5-8400 before it beats / matches DDR5-6000 (Gear 1).
 
So whats the deal here. Considering youre still on 1.0.0.6 with a 7800x3d, Asrock B650E PG Riptide and DDR5 6000 32-38-38-38 RAM, should you stay on 1.0.0.6? Any good chance the PC wont boot anymore after switching to 1.0.0.7a or 1.0.0.7b with EXPO and 6000er modules? What about the memory controller changes you mentioned above?
 
@mkdr if you already have the BIOS with SoC limitor in place, no need to update unless you plan to run 6000+ in Gear 2.

As for not working. There is a chance, but you can just revert back if it doesn't.
 
I dont think the SoC voltage limitor was already present in 1.0.0.6 that came just with 1.0.0.7, no? i read a lot of 1.0.0.7 not being stable or cripple your 6000MHz memory, isnt that the case? what does "gear 2" mean?

What's your experiences so far with 1007 so far? A friend put together a 7950X3D setup a few days ago with a 64GB 6000CL32 Hynix kit. Could only boot 5600, even at 1.25V SOC. No 1007b BIOS available yet for his X670E Strix-A.

Also, man...they weren't kidding about long POST times.

Only just tried it last night on the ASRock Taichi X670e. Post times is stupid long. I thought after 2 minutes that it was hung enabling 7200 and than OC to 8000. Nope just impatient on my part.

Will probably update the GB X670e Master and try 7200 on it.

I've been using 1006 since it came out. Encounter no problems besides the voltage limitor preventing 128GB 4800 and 6400 from working (for my CPU).

Will poke around more tonight while I pursue 8000 :)

Your friend is luckier than I am. I'm on 1007a and can only run 4800 on my 6000-rated kit. Anything else and it just refuses to boot into Windows. Also no 1007b yet for my X670E Hero. S'ok though, as I'm done with this board, and ASUS, and already have an X670E Aorus Master on its way.

It looks to me, 1.0.0.7 just crippled the possibility to run 6000 kits with Ryzen 7000 with that voltage "emergency" limiter, not just make the SOC safe and no burn problem to happen, but that seems to ruin the way RAM kits work. It seems to be, the previous used voltage is needed for anything higher than 5000.

I would have gone with Asrock. Im using Asrock since 20 years, and never had problems. Asus is really just trash. Hope your Gigabyte board works.

I recommended him the Aero G lol but it didn't turn out that way

From other AM5 users' glowing reports of the VSOC limiter having very little effect on RAM (and being able to run 3000UCLK at sub-1.1V even before the whole fiasco), I didn't expect 6000 to be such a struggle. But alas

It is shaping up a lot like AM4, go to Gear 2 and the UMC takes off like a rocket, but who cares if the performance is not there......think most people care a lot more about 1:1 6000
 
Can you explain what that means. I never heard the term Gear 2 before actually. And what is UMC? I just googled about it and it seems Gear is just something for Intel Systems?

yea that was just me being lazy with terms. It's the same concept as Gear 2 on LGA1700, 1:2 half speed UCLK. 3000MHz UCLK for 6000 is 1:1

Except Gear 2 is the norm for LGA1700, whereas 1:1 is the norm for AM5. Gear 4 is to LGA1700 what 1:2 is to AM5.
