5800X3D and which ID-COOLING SE cooler

Story for those who interested: I have 5800X3D (currently CO -30 all cores, power limits 120,90,120) using Be quiet Pure Rock cooler which seems not enough as in BF 2042 I hit 82C. Well maybe thats acceptable for the chip? ..but anyway I would like to improve that. I would like to have rather smaller cooler, I ordered ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO but than cancelled the order as I found it doesnt work with my ASUS TUF gaming X570-PLUS MB (would need different backplate). Another in the que was ID-COOLING SE-226-XT BLACK but I also found he has smaller brother.
Question: For my purpose which is gaming (=I will not stress chip 100%) would you recommend https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kt2WGX/id-cooling-se-226-xt-682-cfm-cpu-cooler-se-226-xt-black or https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jr2WGX/id-cooling-se-224-xts-black-70-cfm-cpu-cooler-se-224-xts-black
226 is here 45$, 224 is here 29$, both insane values! 224 is roughly same performance as esport duo and much cheaper, almost half! I dont mind extra 15$ for 226, but I like 224 is smaller, better access to GPU etc. but 226 should cool better? But according to this test the difference is like 2C:https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/10022/id-cooling-se-226-xt-black-cpu-cooler/index.htmlMaybe it because they used 3600X and with 5800X3D the difference would be bigger?
My case is fractal Design Define R5.
Seems for 226 I would have to buy long screwdriver as I dont have one at home.

arctic freezer 34 is same BUDGET (read quality not price) cooler which will struggle with hot chips.
224 seems also same cheapo "4-piper" which is roughly may be just slightly better to what you have as bequiet makes very good quality coolers.

your case CPU cooler max height 180 mm, and "AMD" recommends "Liquid cooler recommended for optimal performance" lol

why you need access to gpu? do you change them frequently (like me lol)?

I could recommend you:

DeepCool CPU Cooler AG500 for cheap,

be quiet! CPU Cooler Shadow Rock 3 or BE QUIET Dark Rock Slim for medium price

and

Noctua NH-U12S for higher price, and best (overpriced lol) cooling is Noctua NH-U12A, which are all rather compact coolers.

thanks for reply, seems you reccomend 226XT then, note based on test I pasted Shadow Rock 3 is worse than both 224 and 226.
You are probably right I dont touch GPU often but anyway I dont want big big heat sink and beleive dont need to, for gaming I should be ok

I can recommend the Noctua NH-U12A, I use it with my i7 12700K - all-P-cores @ 5Ghz, runs around 65 degrees, gaming during summer.

The SE-226-XT is a really good value. I would strongly consider the Scythe Fuma3 for a few $ more but I've had good success with ID cooling coolers. The Fuma 3 comes with a long screwdriver IIRC.

I wouldn't use a 4 pipe cooler on the 58X3D.

I see but If you check the results they perform almost same, its maybe because they used weak CPU 3600X and with stronger CPU will the difference be really bigger?

I can easily recommend the U12A but have in mind that you'll still see 80s on a 5800X3D, no matter what.

During shader compiling or heavy game loading etc. I still get 80-81 degrees but during gameplay it hardly exceeds 60-65.
(5800X3D at -30 all cores here with U12A in AP201 full mesh case)

I think the 3600X is easier to cool. I only say that because my first AM4 part was a 3600XT. I mean.. you could try.. but it isn't my first choice. And it would irritate the piss out of me to see the Hyper 212 doing better than my cooler. I despise the 212 :D

I've worked with ID before and I'd never use something like that for a 5800X3D. They're midrange coolers and I'm being *very* generous on this, it's the kind of cooler you'd slap on top of a locked i5 so it looks better than the stock but that's about it.

The retention mechanisms and backplates could be better, but it's a $30 cooler after all so that's where they cheap out. Base does not contain any copper and the fins are recycled ("dirty") aluminium.
The fans are ok-ish, not too high RPM though, I think these top at 1600 which can be too low for high end chips. Adding more won't make it any better, my cooler has only one fan yet the CPU is ice cold under load.

Yeah that's how CPUs work. More cores = more power = more heat.
The more = more equation at its finest.

How can people in good faith recommend the U12A, it's a horrendous value.

OP, have you considered this one from ID cooling? 7 heatpipe, dual tower, low profile and good ram clearance https://a.co/d/6t3jEK0

Also, consider getting a piece of PTM7950 instead of thermal paste.

yes, I saw this one exactly also and considered but currently after more research I found my temperatures are not bad at all so I dont plan to buy new cooler currently. I just plan to buy better fan for my current cooler, I will update how did go for case anyone interested.

Even better the Thermalright Silver Soul 135 is pretty much identical for $9 less.

you buy U12A/Dark Rock once and for long long yrs, lmfao...

As opposed to other cpu coolers that are 1 time use only and dissolve if you try to use it on a second system?

These brands have their reputation. It's like SeaSonic/Superflower PSU vs "Deepcool" or other brands.

Just stop talking, you're just digging yourself deeper. How can you even compare a no name brand PSU to a thermalright cooler that costs 1/4 that of a noctua and cools better. It's apples to oranges, not even close.

Thermalright PA-120 (which can be sub $40) will handle it just fine.
It outperforms the Noctua U12A and matches the D15 for much, much less $.

And that's not even the SE model which is supposed to be cheaper, good deal right there.
