The TPU UK Clubhouse

My missus has the TV in the living room, I have my computer (and several others) in the game room. Some alone time is only fair, everybody needs it. :)

seeing me gaming for the fam is bad enough... what gets me the most is not being able to go voice chat militant mode or wear headphones and blast the volume. Just ain't the same immersive experience hence its golden when the fam is out! lol i run video cams on the drive way, garden and internally in the front gallery with the feed output to a side display sitting next to my gaming panel. She thinks i'm too crazy about home security, hehe!

A relative of mine uses a AW laptop too (12th Gen 3000-series card) but a 14"-model which he partially regrets having acceded to a smaller screen. He later grabbed an external hi-ref-rate 1080p ultra-wide to pair up at home. According to him, great performance all-round.

Personally, I couldn't do it. Its not just the desktop performance/thermals/upgrade/etc advantage but sadly i'm also sold on the tampered glass and the hardware eye candy (yeah yeah and some of that 5-year old pleasing lighting circus hehe). Although i would consider a lappie if circumstances changed, eg. staying away from home more frequently.

So you bought a laptop to spend more time with your second half? lol I'd buy one and pretend i'm on work travels to only book a hotel room for an uninterrupted all-nighter B2042 session :rockout: (thats the true definition of gaming portability)
I did use a Asus Zephyrus G14 when I was travelling to my GF house, at the time it was decent but yeah it was a bit tricky to play on a tiny screen after long periods.
But yeah the AW X16 is to balance my time when I want to game in the office or game when she is occupying the TV and playing a game that I don't really have any interest in watching or we are not watching anything.
The days of me wanting to sit in the same room all day gets a bit tiresome which is why I'm going for a compromise, I used to do it when I was living with my parents in my bedroom and then having my own office and being in there from 8:30-5:00pm gets a bit dreary during a work week.

We only have the 1 TV which is a LG C1 65" which has our PS5 and her PC connected, so like I said if I wanted to play a game on her PC or on the PS5 I have that option still and play it at 4k with G-sync + 120hz is NICE.

The days of me being loud on voice chat is way past me now lol, I can only do it upto a certain point in the evening before I get told off by the GF for being too noisy lol, plus I don't really like staying up late as much anymore and I would rather be going to bed at a reasonable time.

i feel you mate!

We dreamed of a day when we would have a den of our own and within the den we'd create an uninterrupted man-cave. The miscalculation being, we forgot the annoying but larger than life disturbance thing that comes with the package. lol im just over-venting... a part of me is glad to be gaming less (work/family/etc). Once i get started i can't stop - back in the day i could do 6 hours straight playing battlefield, overview strategy war titles and whatnot... only to regret waking up unserviceably wasted in the morning. But i won't lie, nowadays when i do want to have a crack at B2042... i dont want the Mrs/kids around (yep sad state of affairs i can't shake off).

BTW, what are you playing on the X16, at what res and how does it perform (FPS)? I'm assuming its a hi-rr display! Also how do the temps fare... any throttling action going on?

Oh, those long, but quickly passed gaming nights! How I miss those! :(

I have two reasons for not doing it anymore:
1. Time. I come home from work, sit down at the PC, check Youtube, check TPU, read a couple of articles, watch a couple of videos, reply to a few posts... boom. Time is gone, gotta sleep to get ready for work again.
2. Games don't seem to draw me in as much as they used to. Don't get me wrong, there are still some good games out there, but if I play them for hours, I get bored and tired of the bazillion options that I have in them. They're too complicated to be entertaining long-term these days. The simple games of yesteryear were much more fun. Games these days are more of a chore.

I make it sound like i'm an old man(i'm in my early 30s), yeah I am glad to be gaming a little less as well but when I do play single player games I could easily play for hours on end with intermittent breaks.
Multiplayer I think I can only cope for like 2-3 hours top before I get tired.
I have not tried playing on the X16 display just yet as I have it connected to my monitor(UWHD 165hz), I have mainly been playing COD MW2/Warzone 2 and on WZ2 I'm getting around 80-110fps on average with high settings + DLSS on balanced. MW2 MP easy 110-130fps. Both on the "performance" profile.
I have been playing with the IET Gt500 cooling pad, which has helped keep the temps for the CPU around 75-85c and then the GPU is around 65-75c. I have not noticed any throttling issues just yet.

I had an Alienware M15 RTX2080 for over 2 years. Great bit of kit for editing, Adobe and light gaming. Plugged into a 1440p 165hz. Was awesome, apart from the heat lol

As quality goes on laptops that thing was rock solid and never missed a beat. Just had to clean it out every 6 months. It'll see you through till your next build for sure.

Yeah it should last me a good 2-3 years I would hope lol, i'll be upgrading my GF PC when it needs it.
Which maybe the next RTX5080 or 8900XTX or 7950XT or whatever for next year when Blackmyth Wukong gets released.

I've never been to the UK or other English speaking countries but I'm not against bitching about things. The summer is coming to an end and I hate it! Wish I lived somewhere where early coming long winter is not a thing.

I mean you might as well come at this stage. Everyone else is...

Just toss your passport over the side of the dingy when you make your crossing.
So not just you who is pissed at this crap then i guess. A long stick with a nail in the end is my answer

I'm guessing this insect will die way before arriving to their office.

i've seen this sort of thing before. They act dead... as soon as the doors open they leg it! (or wing it) hehe

Damn I've not been here in a while!!

How is everyone??
