Starfield discussion thread

I honestly wish there was an option to retain the look of the NG+ 8 Tempus armor into versions 9 and 10, because I hate the look of the cloak versions.

I know what you mean! The Tenebris and Tempus armors are the coolest ones IMO.

The weirdest were NGs +4 and +9

In the former, I got a scenario where all members of Constellation had retired from exploring and became academics. I met Noel in the Lodge, who was "Professor Sarah Morgan's apprentice", with my presence confirming "Professor Barrett's multiverse theory", and in the latter, Vasco, as the sole survivor, succeeded at hiding the artifacts, but all members of Constellation (including Noel, Matteo and Walter) had been murdered in cold blood by The Hunter beforehand, "me" included. In both scenarios, I had to operate the Eye manually.

There's a mod for that.

I think @Dr. Dro is having more fun not using cheats/mods, and I have to agree with him if so, on my second character I used cheats to mess around some and it kind of ruined the experience for me.

Limitations are a good thing sometimes. at least for first playthroughs.

I mean I know there are 10 rare NG+ variants, and I know what they are. But these are largely whack, they don't make for a long, stable run.

I've been playing without cheats though, yeah. First time I've ever done that on a Bethesda game I must confess.

Updated SFSE is just out for all you mod heads!

I am putting my playthrough on hold for more patches and FSR3 Frame Gen (hopefully early next year), then going to give the game a proper playthrough, the 40 hours I have clocked into the game as is though I had fun with, so its all good

I might even wait a couple of years for the expansion to be out actually. we'll see.

After debating whether I stay an ugly blob of a ship, I invested some time and made the Razer all pretty.

I have always loved that shade of green. Still too much gray for me, I think you should change all fuel tanks to like a gold yellow dark color.... mmmm that would go so well I think

I am not sharing my ship, its ugly, I made it a mix of a bunch of colors lol then I got too lazy to go fix it all up more properly

Well, there are mods and then there are mods, at least as far as I'm concerned. You can, of course, find all kinds of mods to either make you a functional god or just make the whole game unspeakably silly or stupid.

On the other hand there are mods that provide small tweaks, corrections or quality-of-life changes which you think ought to have been there, or not been there, from the get-go, but which doesn't in any way grease the skids of your progress or alter the story or experience in any substantial manner.

I've changed the Starborn armours myself, simply because I find the tatty capes quite incongruous with the actual armour designs and seriously detracts from the visual impact. Hence they're gone.

CTRL-dbl. click on any module of the ship will select all of them and you can change them all in one fell swoop. Might make it easier to get back on that design job again.

I finally broke down yesterday and used the ”cargo mod” just when I finally got to Akila to get a better ship that I wouldn’t need the mod. I’m a “professional packrat” in these types of games and while I genuinely stuffed every nook and cranny or my ship , crew maxed Mules I accidentally did a ”take all” on the “the puddle“ so I had over 1k on my back..for the record I only did the puddle twice not even stealing the credits the first time. The patch fixed it now anyway.
My plan is to finish the quest for the ship and remove the mod because having 600K of storage definitely feels like a cheat to me and I do try to handle my resource management with my need of always being a packrat.

Is there a "interact with things in scan mode" or "toggle scan mode outlines in normal mode" mod yet? I find the constant switching back and forth (but mostly not being able to open lockers/doors/etc) so annoying that it's the main reason I put the game down after a couple hours.

Totally relate…i went Xenobiologist and almost Master at scanning and have spent far too many hours of my playtime running around planets scanning and feel the same way…the whole process is so awkward…

Something I learned recently is that you can hide ship parts! Voila... guns say bye bye.

Did you use a mod you found or completely change them yourself? If the latter, have you submitted an official mod for it on any of the mod sites? I agree that the cloak versions are very tatty and ridiculous. I'd go as far as saying I'd rather wear Delgado's scarf, and I absolutely despise his scarf!

lmao this saved me so much time, ty

1st playthrough I'm typically the same - with one exception.
After everyone is dead and I want to loot all the things, TGM is totally fine just to get back to base.

what is tgm?

Yep, there's one just for carry weight too but it's a swiss army knife cheat.

I'm a big fan of this latest patch. I used to have trouble with a hard crash requiring a full power down. Since the 1.7.33 patch I haven't encountered one yet. Anyone else seeing a similar improvement?

I've never made a mod for any game; I solely rely on the hard work of others. Can't remember the name of it off hand, but search for "Starborn" or "Starborn armors" and you'll no doubt find it quickly.

Edit: actually, I see the mod has been hidden for some reason. Don't know what the problem is with it, but I've had zero issues with it in-game. If you want it you can send me a PM and I'll be happy to mail it to you.
