Weird memory timings with Ryzen 5 5600X + freezing issues?

The memory kit is no good for your system. This is evident if the board can't train the XMP timings while on auto.

Can try setting memory power down mode to disable in the memory timings menu. This will prevent the memory from going into an idle state.

I've gone through at least 2 dozen sets of memory across several platforms. I'll never buy LPX Vengeance ever again, that much I can say. I have a set of PNY that even does better with an XMP of only 2666mhz. Never an issue.

One thing is for sure, you'll never know unless you swap the kit with something different. No, you won't likely stabilize a kit that boots CL26 on the XMP profile.

Oh snap, MY BAD, I missed the card was replaced and all is good now!! Why did not my phone load the comments? It did not refresh the page dang it.

Glad to see the issue was resolved!

@VuurVOS
one of the worst ideas, especially on a non-stable rig,
is to install OS/drivers while running XMP/DOCP/PBO and the like.

unless your able to run something like TM5 or HCI for a week with those settings, stock settings for cpu/ram is much better..

If you did read everything, you knew there were multiple problems with the system of cst1992.

memtest64 didn't show any memory issues. OCCT didn't show any issue. This was done before the first reinstall.
The first reinstall solved slow freeze issue where it took a couple of minutes until the system fully froze randomly.

The instant freeze wasn't solved by the reinstall and that was caused by a fauly WiFi+Blutooth adapter and solved when it was replaced.
HCI and/or TM5 will not detect this kind of problem since it is testing the memory. It was an instant freeze so stress test tools for memory & processor are useless in this case :banghead:

my post is about you, recommending ppl to run XMP (e.g. non-jedec) settings, before OS/drivers are installed.

Read all posts again since there are assumptions being made and those wouldn't be there if you read the posts.

OS was installed prior loading the XMP/DOCP profile in the bios. After the XMP/DOCP profile was loaded there where no stability issues reported with memtest and OCCT.
Then the reinstall of Windows was done on my recommendation which solved the slow total freeze issue.

So your claim about "recommending ppl to run XMP (e.g. non-jedec) settings, before OS/drivers are installed." is FALSE.

Hey guys calm down, there's no need to fight.

I did a BIOS reset before doing every reinstall of Windows anyway. Plus there have been no problems related to memory at all, either with or without XMP/DOCP enabled. The first post is just me doing it wrong - meaning only setting the frequency and not the timings. Even then I didn't get any memory issues.

The problem is pretty clear now - the adapter malfunctions were crashing the system, and the repeated crashes were leading to system corruption, evidenced by slowdowns, stutters and other symptoms.

That is why i use Memtest86 (64bit)-USB-Boot-Stick before real Real World Testing. And after that the PC is 99% already stable - if it quits 1 full Pass without Errors.

Use this: https://www.system-rescue.org/

Or the commercial Version.

I may have found another cause of the (instant) freezes.

So, I was able to use the system with no problems for a week, right? But I was using it without installing my antivirus software.
On Monday, December 18, after I made the 1-week update I installed it again, and I noticed freezing in my games, twice in two days. This wasn't the kind of "hard" freeze where everything locked up and the system was effectively dead, rather it was half-working and I was able to open task manager, but it was laggy to the point of me not being able to use it.
There was also this in Event Viewer, approximately the same time as the freeze:

quickup is the updater program for Quick Heal, my antivirus software.
I have seen this before, and you might say "correlation doesn't equal causation" which I'd agree with, but I uninstalled it and haven't had a freeze since.
I don't think I shouldn't have changed out my WiFi card (it was definitely having issues too), but just something to consider, I guess? Whatever error they have made while writing this program is a big one, and maybe it only shows up on AMD systems? I have been using this in my laptop and other desktop, both Intel, for many years without a hitch.

Some people with Quick Heal had freezes and crashes in the past. Maybe wise to open a support ticket with them?

Maybe I will, but this seems to be unrelated, since it's for a very old version and the software has gone on to have multiple refreshes since then.

That's interesting the OS can't get the version number of the exe. You mention this is an old version...what OS are you running on your Intel machines compared to your AMD? If windows 10 which version specifically? (ie: 1909, 21H2, etc...)

Old system has Windows 7, laptop has Windows 10 Home 21H2 and desktop has Windows 11 Home 23H2.
Don't the vendors of these softwares e.g. antivirus write .sys files as well? If one of those is faulty, that could explain why it causes a system crash when it goes down.

Sorry which one is the AMD system and which ones are the Intel systems?

The one with Windows 11 is the AMD one.

Never assume that

The correct phrase is
"The memory kit is no good for your system on XMP/EXPO"

I've managed to get every weird dumb combination of RAM working on AM4 and AM5 that I've tried so far with mixed RAM sizes brands and speeds, the only times it doesnt work is assuming XMP/EXPO will load viable settings.
These days since AMD and Intel have multiple generations of CPU's supported on multiple generations of motherboards, compatibility makes chaos theory look pedestrian.

XMP/EXPO on, then lower the speed til it's stable is the best advice for beginners.
