PC won't boot after BIOS update

My PC can no longer boot. The problem arose after a BIOS update from F40 to F64e on an Aorus Ultra Gaming x470. I also tried removing all devices except the keyboard, including hard drives. I also removed the battery etc but nothing helped. If anyone has another idea for a solution, please feel free to get in touch. Attached is the screen where I am stuck. But unfortunately my keyboard cannot be used.

Can you reflash to the previous BIOS version?

If it has BIOS Flashback or however they call it on Gigabyte, use it, the flash process went wrong.

Use another USB if possible. You need another computer to download the bios file, make sure it has the correct name and all that.

Would it help if I installed my new processor that the update was for? I have a Ryzen 5 1600 installed now, but I can install the new Ryzen 7 5800x. Would that help?

Did you apply the EC FW Update Tool B19.0606.1 first?

Leave only 1 RAM installed and remove the rest, then reboot and see if that helps.
Unfortunately it did not help, but thank you for your help

Have you tried all the USB ports?
I've only ever tried the 2.0 ports because I read that somewhere. The only thing that supports me is that my RGB's on the keyboard light up. I will still try the other ports though! Thanks for your help. I currently have a Ryzen 5 1600

Your motherboard has DualBIOS. Did you try to switch to the backup bios or use it to recovery the main bios?

Method 1
  1. Switch off your computer
  2. Hold the power button until your computer starts and shuts down again
  3. Press the power button again, your backup BIOS should kick in now and should re-flash the backup BIOS if there's anything wrong with the new one.

Method 2
  1. Switch off your computer
  2. Hold the power AND the reset button for about 10 sec, then release.
  3. It should boot into the backup BIOS now.

Method 3 (Only use this if nothing else works.)
  1. Short out pins 1 and 6 on the main BIOS chip by attaching a jumper to both the pins (pin #1 should be marked with a red dot or whatever)
  2. Tell a friend to press the power on button while you do this, because right now you are holding the jumper on the pins
  3. Remove the jumper you're holding between pins 1 and 6 as soon as you hear a beep.
  4. Backup BIOS should boot now.

Looking through the manual and product page it doesn't look like there is a BIOS flashback option.

It's amazing that this board has dual BIOS but they couldn't be bothered to include a simple dip switch to swap between them.

Your motherboard has diagnostic LEDs at the top right corner. Please look and see which one is lighting up as that should indicate which part of the boot processes it is getting stuck in.

hope that image helps you

It does, it appears the VGA light is lit. Do you happen to have a backup graphics card you can test the system with?

Put the new CPU in. ;)
When you update for 5xxx series, you lose support for some of the earlier models.
Asrock X470 does the same shit.

That's what I thought at first but if this is the case it's not documented on the BIOS update page or in the CPU support list. As far as I can tell the only CPUs his motherboard drops support for are bristol ridge APUs.

Sometimes with Gigabyte boards you have to remove the battery after updating the BIOS to get it to post again.

That is only true for the generation before the Ryzen processors like Bristol Ridge. Support for Bristol Ridge was dropped after F6.

@Agent P
It can be that Gigabyte messed up the bios so the USB ports are not properly initialized during POST when a specific processor is installed.
If you installed your 5800X it is possible that some of the USB3.0 port might be working.

Unfortunately im stuck in the same Screen wich shows the eagle of Aorus....now I use the 5800x. I keep going, now i wanna test an different graphics card

This is the 2nd topic of the exact same board with exactly the same BIOS flashed - causing the same issue:

Probably reverted/re-flashed to original/factory BIOS - to F2. Which drops support for a lot of newer CPUs.

All that's left is to clear the CMOS, which can be done - by connecting the CMOS Clearing Pins with a jumper or by using a screwdriver. But first, unplug everything while the computer is discontented from power - remove the CMOS/BIOS battery - and wait couple of minutes. Next, clear the CMOS as described in the manual:

The pins on section 20, here i added an arrow:

("a few seconds" - as in - hold it like that for at least 10 seconds or so). Then leave it like that for awhile (have breakfest or whatever). When you're done put the battery back (with computere turned off and power cored unpluged OFC) and try another boot - with HDD/SSD unpluged still (since booting into in to BIOS is the main priority - for now).

Update: nothing worked till now. We tried many different was but we always ended up in the same Auros screen with the eagle.

Did you also upgrade the backup bios? If not, try method 3 (at own risk).

Did you see and try the instruction from linustechtips?

Haben Sie die Anleitung von linustechtips gesehen und ausprobiert?
After I tried this nothing happened, still the same Aorus Logo.

I have a Gigabyte X570 board with dual bios and no switch. It supposed to choose by its own the second BIOS if anything happens to first, but we need to know if OP flashed both.

Although this is not working properly sometimes. I had to use BIOS flashback a couple of times on early BIOS versions after messing around with DRAM settings.
Never had a failed BIOS update and I switched BIOS versions over 20 times. Always used the BIOS utility to update.
