Dear stalkers, last year, during Gamescom 2023, we finally had the chance to meet in person. We gathered around the campfire with you to share something valuable that we have been creating for you for all these years—a small part of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Publicly, for the first time ever. Our one-time initiative then transformed into a journey from campfire to campfire across France, Brazil, Singapore and other countries. Thousands of players were able to play the game themselves and give us the much-needed feedback afterwards. And as true friends always do, you shared your honest thoughts about the game. Both positive and negative, and we are thankful for that. From your insights, we figured out two key points: the one to celebrate and the one to consider seriously.

The first one: the Zone remains the Zone. In its true beauty and after our likeness. The game absolutely feels and plays like S.T.A.L.K.E.R, the atmosphere, hardcore style, harsh and unwelcoming environment are ready to cook, and we can't be more grateful for these words, as they basically sum up both the key intention and the main inspiration for the project from the very beginning at the same time. The second one was: the gear in the backpack should be checked one more time to be completely sure it will not fail us in the most needed moment. On the technical side of things—the game needs more time.

Throughout the frankly challenging development process, we understood the time was of the team's main essence. Seeing the scope of polishing and understanding that we can't push your patience too much, we were absolutely dedicated to releasing the game in Q1 2024, and we worked extra hard to meet the release window.

That, however, doesn't change the fact that at the beginning of this year, we still witnessed the certain amount of technical imperfections that hold S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 below the expected standards for the final experience our fans are waiting for. While there is absolutely no way to make another delay sound less dim, we decided to be clear about our reasons to postpone the game for the sake of yet another wave of polishing.

The final release date for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now September 5, 2024.

We know that you are waiting for this moment, as well as we do. But the preparation needs to be done so that the journey into the Zone goes smoothly and as planned. Thanks for your patience and continuous support, and be ready to see a lot of info about the game further this year.

I'll let the video explain my reaction to this.

Also i agreed with A&P211. Better wait and release something good, than do as so many others. Releasing a bug infested beta game. While its annoying with game delays, i am also annoyed by games released to fast. So thumbs up for using the time to get the game ready.

Wouldnt be a stalker game if it didnt suffer and endless amount of delays...

I honestly thought the it was originally delayed to early 2025 and I've just been patiently waiting. I'm in for a treat if it keeps this current delay of Sept 2024 because that's sooner that 2025.

Thankfully STALKER 2 is releasing on GoG so I can get it there. I'd be sad if it wasn't available on GoG since I don't pay for game leases off other digital DRM platforms.

1st of never.

Shame this as it's really the only game i have really been looking forward to.

I expect an absolute shitshow. Honestly - I would have expected it even if the war did not happen, but now, especially now being sceptical is the best I can give.

I'm not worried, it may give me time to play Stalker again. I never finished it due to extreme crashing about halfway through my first play through. It may have been a mod, but Stalker is hard work, so I couldn't be bothered trying again. But now 6 years have elapsed I'm ready for a new go.

Oh boy, I can't wait for this title to be released, kind of seems like good timing. I might even get a "free" (free, lol) copy with the upcoming RTX5000 series that will launch.

I don't care if it's delayed. I loved the first STALKER and the expansions. This seems even better on the technical side. If it has a good story, it will be a great new experience

This.

GSC has been a string of messy releases and a battle over the franchise, and then they proceeded with a few trailers of a sequel.

Not seeing a great track record here. Its not exactly like the Stalkers were a hallmark of great coding or gameplay. They nailed the atmosphere, but the shooter in it is pretty weak. Stalker games can't hold a candle to, for example, any installment of Metro in terms of gunplay / the shooter aspect of it. And its not a good RPG either, limited as it is. Inventory management was clunky. Etc.

In its time, that wasn't a huge deal breaker. But let's not sugar coat Stalker too much. For all it did very well, it had at least an equal amount of issues.

Here's hoping they won't drop the ball on this one.

Expectations are very high towards this game especially from veterans of this title like me who bought it and played it in 2007 with graphics cards that struggled to run it.

The promotion is evidently at today's level and Microsoft is putting all its efforts into it.

There will be many Easter eggs but it must be very long and deep both in terms of gameplay and content.

And here I have my doubts.

Why did they spell chernobyl wrong?

Hope for the best but, my expectations are modorate, The studio is not the same as it was with the first games. Could be good but could just as well be a dud.

Well, it either won’t make the date, which is likely, or will be a very much broken mess if it does, not unlike the OG games. I don’t really see a third option.
What is worse is that UE isn’t very mod friendly nowadays, which is a shame, since a lot of value in the original games over the years came from modders drastically improving and redoing various aspects of the game.

Go drunk comrade, you home.

See you guys in the next delay!

Looks great but I am not going to pre-order any game anymore. I will wait for reviews, a few patches and price drops.

Rather they wait and get it right.

Why delay?
I understand that my opinion won't be popular, but
It will be still really buggy even by that time.
