I just bought company of hero 3 last week. Guess what, the game does not want to go into the next turn, its turn based, kinda like Total War.
I'm on turn 55 on the Italian campaign, I press the "next turn" button (upper middle top), the game refuses to go into the next turn. The game freezes but I can still move the mouse around and my computer hasn't crash or froze. My laptop has 32gb of ram, I checked the task manager and the game is eating Ram like crazy, within 1min the ram usage is at 98-99%. I have to press "end task" in the task manager to get out of the game.

Why did I sent $30 on a broken game, its too late to ask for a refund since I'm at 20+hrs of playing. I'm playing it on the laptop in the system specs, my laptop can handle it at max settings. This is the 1st game in over 1yr that I have bought. Company of heroes 3 came out February 23, 2023

I mean I take your point, but games being buggy is hardly a modern invention.

Games have always had game braking bugs, its why I hate at least 6months to buy any game but this game has been out 1yr. Its only the game I've gotten for myself for at least 1yr and turns into a POS. I guess this is more of a rant post.

I remember when I got my 1st computer in 1998, one of my 1st games was age of empires 2 and Homeworld. I dont remember those games having game braking bugs.

But when they did, getting them patched was a bitch. Hoping a games magazine would provide a diskette, or a CD later, with the buggers. Fallout 1/2 had some of them IIRC.

Modern games are way worse in this respect.

When games were sold in a physical format and the user was not expected to ever update it that made studios approach QA in a whole different way.

I think that is as far as that Campaign goes. It was rather jarring.

Should read reviews before throwing money out of the window. :D It's all there: Steam user rating: 54%, MetaCritic User Score: 4,7. Also notice how the gaming "journalists" gave the game a 81 at MetaCritic, lmao. F**king corrupt sewer rats. Also a heads up, the last patch for CoH3 was from the 15th Dec 2023, so it doesn't look like they're putting much effort anymore into fixing the game.

Better go with the old "Company of Heroes 2". You can get dirt cheap keys for the game (1,97€ Standard Edition / 8,54€ Master Collection) & even the player numbers are way better: CoH2 24hr peak: 6.720 / CoH3 24hr peak: 3.084.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/231430/Company_of_Heroes_2/Just noticed CoH2 has loads of DLC (got 100 DLC's atm.). Need to check if there is still something missing. Got most of it from the Humble CoH Bundle (89 items). Was a banger deal.

That sounds like a memory leak. :)

I already have the 1st and 2nd one. I loved the 1st when it was still a few years old. I didnt really read the reviews when I got it. I dont what to do about the memory leak.

I dont what to do about the memory leak.

There's nothing you can do about it except hope they patch it and use it as a learning experience to wait on purchasing games.

Maybe I'm a classic guy, but I like old games better than new ones. Younger gamers will probably resent me, but that's my opinion, which means it doesn't have to be right. However, playing the latest games I came to the conclusion that developers and publishers are running out of ideas. They try remakes of old games. Some have succeeded, and some have not. I'll stick with the old games though.

At first you may send a mail to the developer and hope they reply with a solution.
And second, we may have to see if others faced the same or similar issue.

A bug that breaking would have been known to anyone who played the game.

I have CoH 1,2,3, I've been waiting for CoH 3 for 10 years. And as much as I liked this game, now I only play 2, 3 is unfinished and they were 10 years old!!! I'm waiting for Homeworld 3 and I'm already afraid because they postponed the premiere for 2 months, there is a demo, but my internet connection on the ship is too weak to download it, I'll be home next week and I'll see how to play Homeworld 3.

For a moment i was bewildered.. I thought they actually turned COH 3 into a full TBS game.. Imagine that!? It's like Blizzard saying: ''the next StarCraft game will be an MMORPG"...
Guess what, i've got COH 2 for free years after it was released, i will wait for the same gift from Steam with COH 3! I feel like people should buy strategy games upon release only if they intend on playing multipalyer.

However, i feel like your RAM problems have got nothing to do with the game iteself. It should run fine even on 8 GB RAM provided your CPU and GPU are up to the task.

I dont have ram issues with other games and I have more than enough for any game. When I play the german side, I dont get any issues, its only on the Italian side after turn 55. The ram is not a problem, it ran Starfield at max settings at 1080. Starfield really beat up the processor on a laptop.

I have the first 2. The first one was spectacular, though single-core cpu gaming sucked back then. The second was meh. This is one still has complaints about it on the Steam forums and what I've seen I'm not surprised. If it goes to $10 I might pick it up.

I agree. I'm playing a ten year old AC now (Unity) and it is really just 'AC', same shit different context. The amount of monetization in the game. Absolutely ridiculous. And immersion breaking. At its core nothing changed, but you can see a lot of work has gone into nonsense around the game. We're looking at a primarily single player experience here, infused with matchmaking, co-op missions (and: not being able to do those missions alone!), boosts to make you go faster which is really paid cheating, something we used to have for free, ingame items with gameplay stats tied to other content outside of the game...

You see this a lot in games these days and it totally detracts from the experience. Gaming is escapism, getting shops in your face all the time kills it.

So yeah older games > new games every time. Mechanically, they're often equal or even better because less simplified, and sometimes they lack a tiny speck of quality of life features in comparison. Gaming is moving to fast food joints: you get fat, bloated and lazy from them, and they kill your appetite for anything else.
