Which Monitor ? Poll

Between these three, the ultrawide. But IMHO you should look first and foremost for a monitor that has a quality panel, my good man. How much are you able to spend?

Shame TPU has so few monitor reviews. Page 1 goes as far back as 2019.

a 3440x1440 100hz user here... the extra screen estate is good and the 100hz is a bonus for games fluidity..
ive given up competitive gaming and more into good single player experience and the ultrawide monitor delivers...
my fav titles on it are titanfall 2, bioshock infinite.. ghostwire tokyo.. cities skyline..

The 144Hz version as I don't personally see any sense of any higher refresh above that. Also I don't like ultrawides.

But personally I'd rather even have a 4K60 than any resolution below that. I have 4K120 & 4K60 monitors and there's no going back.

Have a Dell 34" UW 144hz, cannot recommend it enough, best move i have made. I paid £280 for it in the box, was a good deal.

If you can find a second-hand Samsung G7 (LC32G75TQSCXXK) I think you'd be happy with it. Even new ones are selling for less than $350 now due to being a few years old. Gigabyte GS27QC also tests well for the price.

Out of the three you've selected, I'd go with the 165 Hz version. All of them have reasonable pixel density, and IPS/VA both have arguments, but 100 Hz is too little, and I don't think a $131 monitor can really be that good for that price, too many corners cut.

I'm not sure the sub $200 market has much going for it, almost every example will have significant drawbacks. I'm personally very happy with my almost four year old G7 which is curved, there's still not that much on the market that can beat it performance wise, besides the new OLED panels. But I have seen other, much cheaper (mostly office) curved monitors in person and the quality isn't anywhere near as nice, so that's another potential pitfall to beware of.

Have you considered looking at the used market? A high end slightly older model will be much better than an entry level new model.

At this price point, I'd say look for a used, higher-quality monitor. But whatever you decide, just do waste money and buy slow 60 Hz monitors - seems like you're not even suggesting those, very good.

If you must choose between these options, I'd probably say that 34" ultrawide, but the fact that it's only 100 Hz is slightly annoying. 2560x1440 would be better, if the panel was 27". Having owned a few ultrawides, they're fantastic for gaming. That resolution is a bit harder to run than 2560x1440, but is nowhere near as demanding as 4K high refresh rate gaming would be.

Yeah I agree 100Hz is not a lot for the size of the third choice the reviews look good on it at that site 25 giving 5 stars & 2 at 4 stars.
But then again I have a lg 43" class at 60Hz that looks just fine but I never gamed on it.

The ones mentioned are LG Ultra Gear and Acer Nitro. Those are low end atleast from reviews. The Sub $200 is much bigger now than before

Uncommon res and a single 24 is tiny. I currently have 3x 1920x1200 24" on a triple tree but one of them died which is way I'm looking to replace them all.

I have a 2019 version of the LG 32" flat VA monitor & I've been very happy with it for gaming. I've got a deep desk so it is over an arm's reach away from me. Looks great to me 60+ year old eyes.

I guess you have to answer two questions.
Flat or curved?
16:9 or ultra-wide?

Well, I have two LG utlrawides (2560x1080p) (29" and a 25") and a regular 1080p LG, albeit not recent purchases. Without importing their colour profiles and some tinkering....I am not really a fan. Bought them, because that's what I could afford. Acer Nitro - series seem to get a lot of "best-budget awards", so I guess they are doing better? 144mhz vs 165mhz....not much difference IMO and I get the impression games don't like uneven numbers refresh rates, so 144Mhz would get my vote. I am a huge fan of utlrawide, but for a dual monitor setup, you'd have to go 49" super utlrawide, that ain't the budget though

They're pretty low end at sub $200. Mid range is like $300-500, high end is $600-900, halo is $1000+

All I and others are saying is that you're basically looking at the cheapest 1440p high refresh rate panels available, so expect compromises.

Especially considering you plan to do video editing.
