As we enter the second week of March, we have a packed week of new releases for you and the big release this coming week is an open world third-person action adventure shooter. This is followed by a game in Vegas, a classic style run-'n'-gun side scroller, a trippy llama related game, a classic collection Sci-Fi game and the 25th release of a sports title. Sorry, no strategy game this week either.

Outcast - A New Beginning / This week's major release / Friday 15 March
20 years after the award-winning action adventure hit, Outcast, pioneered the genre of non-linear open-world games, the long-awaited sequel sees Cutter Slade return to the spectacular alien world of Adelpha. Resurrected by the almighty Yods, he has returned to find the Talans enslaved, the world stripped of its natural resources, and his own past intertwining with the invading robot forces. It's up to him to go on a mission and save the planet again. Steam Link

Hellbreach: Vegas / Monday 11 March
Hellbreach: Vegas is a wave-based demon shooter, made by Ash, the one-man army behind Infinity Ape Studios. Play as a solo survivor or a team of up to four and face a demonic threat. Set new records as you shoot your way through waves of demons in the neon-lit streets of Las Vegas. Steam Link

Contra: Operation Galuga / Tuesday 12 March
A new entry in the legendary Contra series is here! Contra: Operation Galuga is a thorough reimagining of the classic run-'n'-gun action game from the '80s, featuring modern graphics and sound, new stages, new enemies and bosses, new play mechanics, an updated weapons system, and explosive co-op combat for up to two players in Story Mode or four players in Arcade Mode! Steam Link

Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story / Wednesday 13 March
Journey back in time to an era of cassette tapes, photocopied zines, and README.TXT. An era in which a kid with a Commodore VIC-20 and dreams of radioactive sheep could become one of Britain's best-known game makers. A virtual museum of design documents, playable games, and all-new video features tell the fascinating story of a true independent game designer. Steam Link

STAR WARS: Battlefront Classic Collection / Thursday 14 March
Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection includes a galaxy of content inspired by the original and prequel trilogies, from famous battles across Episodes I-VI, to playable heroes and villains like Asajj Ventress, Darth Vader, and more, to unique modes and challenges. Steam Link

Out of the Park Baseball 25 / Friday 15 March
Out of the Park Baseball 25 marks a milestone - 25 years of sports gaming excellence! Officially licensed by MLB, the MLB Players Inc. and KBO, this year's Anniversary Edition puts you in charge of your favorite baseball franchise. Your team, your legacy, your dynasty. Will give Contra try in coming days once I manage to clean the house(have a tick infestation). Have played orignal games on NES and beat them without the cheat code.

Is the offline content in Battlefront any good? I missed most of it as I was engaging in a strict EA boycott for well over a decade.

It is.

The fact that Outcast 2 is actually coming out is a trippy feeling, not gonna lie. The fact that it’s actually made by at least some of the same people as the original game is even more so.

I've long been curious about Outcast. Got the remaster and remake but haven't tried them yet. I guess the sequel will have to wait until I play the first game.

The new/old Contra brings back happy memories of playing the original titles. It looks very cluttered and disorienting, though, which is something I don't like.

Outcast was weird, but good.

Why is 2024 so good for PC Gamers? Nostalgia is high but there are some absolute Gems already. Now we get some Contra love.

In my younger days my older brother and I would generally play Contra once a week on the NES and run the whole game without dying.

If my dad ever wanted to play with me I'd have to put in the ↑↑↓↓←→←→BA START code for the 30 lives for him. He'd usually last about half way through the game before losing all his lives.

Dunno if you know as it's not very clear, but this a collection of the originals from 2004 and 2005, not the reboots from Dice in 2015 and 2017. They already existed on PC, probably just the usual cheap texture upscale cash grab job

Elder Scrolls 2 would be very surprised to hear this!

Alas(?) Outcast ANB isn't as weird or familiar as the previous one. It felt a bit too close to Avatar. Still probably buy it when discounted.
