What's your latest tech purchase?

Just picked these bad boys up since Google Fiber is expanding to my area.

Had a couple of Lenovo tablets for my youngest, she is 8 next week and due an upgrade as her latest one has screen cracks, tbf it still works pretty good, have been eyeing up some Teclast ones on Amazon, they have decent ram, storage and screen for the £ the only downside is the SOC is not the strongest, this is the one I'm looking at buying her, 1080p, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage as well as a SIM tray for 4g/5g as she uses WhatsApp, not bad for £80 ...
Definitely not bad. Remembering the tablet i have to buy next month. A Lenovo P12 for 369€ (315 GBP) plus the hull/keyboard (40€ / 34 GBP). And all only for WhatsApp and reading the stepcounter on my wristwatch.

This month I did order some supplies (Orig HP Printer cartdridges, batteries, Dymo label tabe, Fragrance bottles). Within this month i will also buy a new phone. I thought about a Samsung Flip 512GB first. But as the new rolled out UI also consiists that dumb AI stuff i don't want to have the Motorola Razr has even with the lower CPU and less Memory (256G) a big advance. I need that flipable to get the phone reduced in the height to have the possibility to close the pockets zipper when taking it out of the house whilst sitting in the wheen chair.

You could also grab a cheap Amazon fire tab HD and convert it to run android. Won't void warranty either

I considered doing this but it the specs arent reall up to my requirements

The fire tab HD 8 Plus tab would have been my pic otherwise
I've done this in the past with older phones, custom roms etc, though not something I want to mess around with on a tablet for the kid, buy it, give to them, don't bother me lol also RAM and storage are expensive if you want more than the measly 2-3/32GB on fire tablets, that said I have some of the fire tablets and they are bang on for what they do and for the cost and make great tablets for younger children, if you can live with the limitations they are probably the best bang/buck tablet you can buy, also amazing build quality, the volvo of tablets, built like a tank but kinda slow and janky

I think your kid deserve a Lenovo Y700 ;)

I probably would have considered one but they arent available in this region yet.

Not yet,. I'll give it a deepclean one day anyway :)

Fuck, there would be too much postage and imports etc :/
Probably not. Could probably send at least 5 discs under “small light packet” through Canada post for $15 CAD.

For browsing TPU it will be more than fine but watching 720p on YouTube. Lets just say its better than nothing at all. 720p Res and shifting the quality setting to 1080p makes no difference at all.

But I wanted something more portable than the M10 so here we are

:edit:

Figured out. Even though the screen resolution is 720p. Forcing quality settings to 1080p in YT still sharpens things up some more. Still low res but more tolerable. On the bright side. The maximum volume is very good for a tablet of this size

As someone said somewhere on TPU, "full leather jackets". Those gestures and the corresponding news are hilarious. Sorry for the offtopic. And BTW, I paid ~370EUR for my 1060 in 2017...

AOC Q27G3XMN. It's a beast.

I guess I never really payed attention.

Go figure, XDA would find a way to do it. LOL

Had Amazon offered the fire tablet with a better res than this here M9 I would have bought one and put android on it.

Guess this thing is a stop gap till the Y700 becomes more readily available and affordable

2x2 switch (DP+HDMI "OUT" x 2 PC "IN"). Finally a good working one without forking out a bomb

A little back story (if it helps anyone). I use 2 displays and 2 PCs, both PCs individually outputting to both displays simultaneously. Basically a work build + a gaming build with a high refresh rate 1440p GSYNC display paired with a 1080p side-kick. I had a similar solution on the go some time ago but my previous KVM switch experience was awful... started out like a patch of cloud sunny day and literally the following day pissing down rain nonstop. Tried everything and anything and eventually ditched it. Ended up directly connecting both PCs to both panels and then having to deal with OSD settings to switch over (3/4 clicks on each panel to switch inputs which was annoying but workable). Oh, and two sets of keyboard and mice which was hardly practical.

I fancied a more hassle-free approach hence it was time to take a second shot at a KVM unit and the above was received yesterday. All wired up and Its my second day using it... and i have to admit, its FANTASTIC!! Switches up fast too with a single click (2-3 seconds) and ties in a single set of KB+mouse which is super convenient and a breeze to work with. On top, external USB shared storage between both builds is a big plus! So far i haven't experienced any problems other than 1. Outside of gaming disabling GSYNC keeps everything smooth 2. Only once got a USB device unrecognised error which didn't repeat after swapping USB sticks.

Still early days but so far SO GOOD!!!

Just today I got myself prepared for build of new Lenovo D30, as a substitute of burned out Lenovo C30.

For that purpose I bought this_

As my Lenovo C30 had main SSD as mSATA drive. So this case can read out mSATA & M2 to SATA.

Looking forward for next build...

I had one of the old KVM models (VGA video connectors and PS/2 keyboard/mouse ports), many many (many!) years ago. Acquiring a modern version is on my bucket list. When I'm working from home, I can change my existing setup to accommodate the company hardware in just a couple minutes... but man, it would be SO nice to just plug in to a KVM and tap a button to switch back and forth.

A used Nikkor 40 f2.8 DX, good shape low price everything's good. (130 € for this lens)
At first i was looking for the mighty 35 f1:8 DX, I had one and given it to my father with my old and cheap D3000.
Nice and light combo, but I choose this 40 mm, as I love "macro-ing" :)
It's a good compromise I think, and I can use it for work.
That's said, it's a nice and sharp lens for macro still object, flowers or snails, don't expect more, the focus distance is very short.

40 DX.jpg

And a old, light and cheap (80 € !) D3100.
Low shutter count (less than 5000) and a good working battery.
To be honest, i've bought it for the battery, it's the same on the Nikon Df
I could have a backup battery and a backup DSLR
I had this older brother, the D3000, and I really love this cheapos
Light, easy to handle, and great ergonomics once you'll get used to, really a nice travel companion :)

Had a Nikon D3100. :) Used it only with stock lenses, but even with those I could take some outstanding photos. Nice deal!

I looked at the Creative Pebbles X Plus review, think of myself “huh, that thing looks pretty okay for the review and I wanted to replace my speakers for a long time…” but then there is no way to grab one right now nearby.

I looked a bit further, and I suddenly remembered I wanted a soundbar for the compact greatness. I stumbled upon the Katana V2 and V2X, looked at the reviews claiming this is about the best PC/gaming soundbar money can buy, and my bank account is suddenly itching real hard.
This is either an utter overkill for my small room, a wrong purchase because there are cheaper better products (I can’t find one easily), or a great purchase decision for whatever.
First impression is, wow, this audio quality is great AF at least for my not very well trained normie ears.
(If I have said that the specific requirements are compact PC speakers (at most ~150mm tall) or a compact soundbar (about 600mm wide), with an okay subwoofer, probably someone will give a better choice. yeah...)

(To be fair to my ex (I mean my previous audio device, the Gigabyte GP-S3000), it is galaxies better than the garbage speakers in displays, and it is probably great for a USB-powered-only device (rated 4.5W). But it is a bit too tall that it is partially hidden by my main monitor, and it is ridiculously loud even when the volume on Windows is set to 1/100. And the Katana V2X is probably galaxies better than the tinny USB speakers.

EDIT#?: Oh no, this is the #20000 post of this thread! *panic*
