you're late on that train (heist? ) ... well then i am SUPER late

check Instant Gaming (google it) they have H:FW quite cheap ... if you do not mind that sort of site ... ;)
checked it, it's even cheaper than when i pre ordered it
Yeah he triggered me, too.

So sorry for this... :)

I'm getting 120-144 FPS at ultra everything, also the additional gfx options. Pretty neat :D
10/10 for snow simulation so far :p

My gaming life feels complete atm again, and thats been a long time since... between RDR2, Last Epoch and Farthest Frontier I think I have three long lasting games that tick every box and are great to alternate between :toast:

Yes people, Farthest Frontier has chickens and goats now. Still EA, but this practically means its gone gold. Whatever gets added later is auto-dwarfed by this, obviously.

playing re4 remake, overlooked when it came out, seems lots of fun and runs really well on my 1050 ti considering it's age, seems well optimized as well. I am getting constant 60fps (forgot to turn off vsync) at low preset with couple of settings at medium (left everything at default).

Today I finished Talos Principle, first game, and currently installing the second one. They are both on sale right now (steam), depending on region two-pack is under 10$ (or 20$ US etc).

It's hard to deny the influence of The Portal on it (even has Aperture Science logo as an easter egg) but it does a great job to separate itself and delves into philosophy and history and uses interactive ways to get you involved. It almost felt like an interactive book with puzzles. I really liked it. My favorite part was where you chat with what appears to be a program/AI on computer. The writing/script was really amazing and the answers you can choose very well thought and fitting. I almost felt like I was actually arguing with somebody (that's kinda the whole point really (like a Turing test) They did an amazing job. After a while, I was really looking forward to our next chat with it. This turned like a prize for solving puzzles really. Scattered notes, short stories, audiologs, historical and philosophical quotes were also really good. I actually read most of them which is something I rarely do in todays games. Some of them were more related to story while others usually challenged the ideas presented in game.
Puzzles were definitely challenging in later levels. But I think they were balanced enough. And you had more than one ways to solve them most of the time. So it wasnt so bad overall. What was bad IMO the excess use of tetris puzzles at the end. It's fine to solve 6-8 pieces but when you get to 12 pieces it turned to a blank jigsaw puzzle (yeah I'm exaggerating a little but it felt like that since it broke to fluidity between actual puzzles) They could toned them down a little. They werent hard, but tedious. What really hard was the secrets in maps. Even finding them was difficult let alone solving the puzzle to unlock them. Admittedly, I had to use youtube to find the rest of them (there were 30 stars). Overall, I really enjoyed it though. If you are in the mood of some puzzle solving, definitely give it a try. I don't recommend it for a chill time though, unless your understanding of chill time is to burn brain juice :p

Thanks for mentioning the sale. I was able to pick up the second one for just over $16 because of the discount for owning the first.

I'm playing : Reading the nonsense in some TPU forum's posts and this in interesting :D
Nah I finished Horizon Forbidden West and the DLC / Sonic Frontiers (I stopped just before the last boss months ago so it was quick x_x).

I started Alone in the Dark (it's a remake) and I was amazed but my feelings gone like this : WOW -> Heavy -> Ah ok...
It's a good game for sure but it's a remake from THE game which made Resident Evil and Silent Hill exist x)
I prefer Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare over this...(nostalgia you would say :p fuck yeah xD)

playing re4 remake, overlooked when it came out, seems lots of fun and runs really well on my 1050 ti considering it's age, seems well optimized as well. It appears I have this one.
Now I remember I played a bit and was like "WTF it's even more awful than Silent Hill The Room" and I stopped xD
I can see you are a warrior then and I wish you a good luck. I should try to end this pain too.

Just finished playing Days Gone on PC

It was quite good. Game deserved better, especially against that boring ass Horizon series. Yet it didn't and no sequel. Too bad.

I love this Game. For some reason I just could not get into BG3 but this took me right in. Especially after I got my Sister of Battle.
It's the right balance between density of RPG elements and game action. BG3 definitely feels denser in the RPG elements and the narration is annoying.

this makes sense to me, BG3 is more traditional fantasy focused, and Rogue Trader is sci fi heavy, two different audiences, you shouldn't compare imo

As someone who prefers Fantasy over Sci Fi I would disagree. You see even though the stories are different the Game mechanics are about the same. The size of the Games are about the same so they are both Turn based RPGs. If you are comfortable with one the other will feel natural. I am not saying BG3 is bad just that it is easier to get into Rogue Trader

So I'm continuing with Talos Principle 2. I'm at the 50% mark atm and this time I brought some SSs because, oh boy, this game looks gorgeous. Texture quality is a little on the low side but vegetation looks great. So far I'm loving it. It appears that they slightly increased the difficulty of standard puzzles and decreased the difficulty of solving secrets which was my only real complaint in the first game so it's perfect in that regard now. But of course not everything is perfect. The game now has an actual storyline with characters. I think it is still early for me to talk about the quality of the story but that's not really the problem for me. In the first game, the absence of a strong storyline led me to find my own story, in my own pace, in my own rules, within the borders of my own curiosity and imagination. In this game, I feel like I'm more limited with clear orders and objectives given. And I'm now responsible for others rather than just my own. Which isnt a straight bad thing although it's a different experience now. Also the script is definitely weaker this time around, I'm missing the interactive Q&As with the AI in the first game. Still, I'm still finding my own ways to have fun and get involved. Gameplay itself is still great (for a puzzle game). And big open worlds kinda help me to forget about story and enjoy the rest.

There is something I want to talk and ask about graphics though.

After tweaking and trying many settings, this has become the first game I opted to use frame generation to hit high refresh rates. In-game FG support works good (not AFMF), doesn't seem to cause noticeable artifacts and frame pacing is great. Input lag is still there (I use mouse & kb) but this not a shooter so it doesn't actually effect anything and manageable.
Like many UE5 title, this game also has some sort of ray tracing when you turn on Global Illuminations and Reflections settings to high or above (it does say so in the menu as well) so the graphic settings I ended up using are:
1440p, FSR Quality, All Ultra, Shadows Medium and GI High.
Without FG, I get about 85-120 FPS in actual game areas. But it seems like I start to see some kind of CPU limits above 100 FPS as well. So this is not really perfect because of fluctuations. But it makes a very good case to run FG. With FG I can lock to 144FPS, it doesn't really fluctuate and it seems on average I get less power usage on both GPU and CPU. I don't have many complaints about it so far. It just works.

About upscaling, well, nothing looks great while moving. Frankly, even native isn't that great. I even tried super sampling to higher resolutions which looks good but FPS tanks quite bad. So I opted to use quality FSR which gives a huge boost to FPS (like in many UE5 title).

Lastly I like the reflections in this game. They are probably standard UE5 but "ray traced" ones are pretty great. It seems like they blend with normal reflections. You can notice if you move camera to up and down to hide objects and their qubic(?) reflections but it's not like they disappear completely like in many games without RT reflections so it's not really noticeable while you are actually playing the game. There are many water bodies in the game so reflections adds a lot. But the best part is FPS hit which is very negligible so it's no brainer to put them in ultra.

About my question, please take a look at the below pictures. From top to bottom those are GI Medium, GI High and GI Ultra. Now I might be biased because I play on GI High (for performance reasons, Ultra hits quite hard to FPS) but I'm not sold on what Ultra does to trees those are in the shadow of other trees on the right side. It looks like they get illuminated from somewhere and their details get washed out. Sun is clearly low on horizon so I dont think this should be the case for them. But I'm not taking everything away from Ultra setting as it does clearly better job inside of the building on the left. GI Medium does good job with the grass on the middle but inside of the building and forest's depths looks too bright. About 90% of what you do is run between trees and solve puzzles inside inside buildings so I really appreciate the better illumination in this game.
But maybe I'm just going crazy, so what do you think?

I'm also really enjoying breaking the puzzles

I don't know if you finished it, if you did HEAR the music or not, it could spoil too but damn, I wanted to know what the singer who is doing good stuff about the Horizon OST did and I happend to hear this so I'm much obliged to share/spoil :D

was playing RE4 remake, stupid pc shut down after a little while and doesn't turn back on if i press power button, have to disconnect / reconnect power cable after that (this problem is random, sometimes it doesn't even happen in 2hrs of session and half an hour in others). Fuck this shit, im out. Througout my history of computers i have faced issues after issues. It's about time they stop happening, maybe law of attraction in it's work considering i complain alot. BTW, will ask my brother to buy a new psu tomorrow when he comes back from his trip, will look for a decent reputable brand one and not these chinese knock-off local branded crap.
