7800X3D faster than 9900X in games

Interesting read. I thought this would be faster, just shows how good the 7800X3D is.

There is nothing to compare 7800 to, it's a verry specific CPU, more for guys like me that have a console like PC (gaming exclusively).

9900x3d to be compared will be concluding really, only.

Seems to be more/less in line with how things were last gen.
A 5800X3D performed similarly to the 7700X in games, it was the 7800X3D that got the big leap.

So, we'll have to see what the 9900X3D brings then as said.

Well with AM4 sunsetting the 7700X would be worthwhile.

Even a 7600X is technically faster though when paired with proper 6000 CL30 Memory....

Even in wiz day one testing with a 3080 the 7600X was overall a bit faster but basically tied....

9900X will probably be the worst of the R7/R9 though in gaming, never going to like 2 6 core CCD glued together..... I had a 3900X it was my first ryzen cpu in a primary system it was fine but will not go back to that CCD setup.

1% lows are especially bad 10% behind though but we need real reviews not some random on wccftech. Take that back his testing seemed fine actually.

He was running 7200 memory so who knows if that was degrading performance.

Funnily enough the 5900X seemed to have solved those issues.

7800x3d i have, XMP is OFF; i found the SoC to be OKay at 1.1 instead MB setting 1.25 when ON, but no gain i can see using it...

... yesterday i turned OFF CPU Boost, max temp is 50 instead 80... it will be a verry few games that benefict of the boost only, so for now it stays OFF.

Yeah please, i say that bc i never had stutter, if you have the ultra stuttering games that everybody complains about, test those and report, i'm interested.

Curve optimisation. Lower temps and harder/longer boost.

The 9900x is a 6+6 though, it's not the best option for gaming. 9700x should be doing better. If price is the same I'd rather grab a 9700x than a 7800x 3d.

If the 9900x was made faster than the 7800X3D, then how can AMD sell the 9800X3D at a premium to all those 7800X3D owners in order to future proof once again?

Paired with the good GPU 9700x should be just fine but I understand the mindset in general here hovers around bleeding edge enthusiast gaming requirements.
