What are you playing?

Don't feel bad if you do. A poll years ago showed that only about 1/3 of games once started actually get finished for all kinds of reasons. I imagine that a big chunk of those unfinished games is due to them not being worth finishing.

It takes 10-15 min of gameplay to know if a game is good for you, or 1min in faster scenario (like downloaded without knowing what it is (free games...)).

I just stopped LiS TC, a true garbage full of nothing if time loss... but RT/HDR, 30min to see graphics and then shutdown game forever.

That is the strange thing about the game. It's very much about exploration but the game really wants me to be stationary (I just inherited a colony, and a freighter). I'm exploring the universe!!! And here's a rover for a single planet?
I must boldly go where no Bender has gone before, to explore strange new worlds (as a whole) etc yadada blablabla..
:D

In other news; testing the 5800X in Project DRS with Project Cars 2 with max opponents (31).

And BeamNG.drive with traffic (default setting)

Beam with traffic is heavy on the resources but I am running it at 3440x1440 with medium/high settings.

Super Mario 64 RTX (Render96). HowTo Install
Original Nintendo64 game, ported to PC with insanely good graphics, textures and RayTracing. Running smooth on 165 FPS.

Stunt Race FX with Ray Tracing would be better it already had piss frame rates. Surely they can Path Trace Stunt Race FX at 13FPS.

Sons of the Forest, it's better than I thought it would be over all.

Completed Psychonauts 2 just right now. No screenshots just like the original game I told about in this thread. Game's not much of a looker honestly.

But gonna be honest, Tim Schafer can write some goddamn good story. Bravo! Now I'm gonna skim through the Wiki or whatever to learn more about Psychonauts universe.

I really need to forget the story of CP2077 so I can replay it all over again. So hyped about the sequel though.

Hopefully, CDPR just lets it cook long enough unlike the first one

BGW want me to tell you the name of some interesting mods?

Agreed, but IMO the main story is a bit weak. I really don't like all the endings. Basically you can't continue after that, and most of them is terrible. At least give one happy ending so it made the playthrough worthwhile. Sidequest however is great, most if not all of the companions sidequest is well crafted good character arc to get you invested. Still think this is the best ending, DLC included. Panam is bae.

What interesting mods you have?

I'm a bit of a mod connoisseur if you will.

My recommended mods for CP2077:

Unequip mods: Remove mods (ingame mods of weapons and whatnot) and place whatever mods to whatever weapons you desire. Let your desire be free from shackles of CDPR.

Lean Anywhere and Sit Anywhere: Wanna take in the view from top of the dam or chill with random NPCs on a ledge? These mods are your vest friend.

Lifepath Bonuses and Gang Corp Traits: Ever think various factions in Night City are kinda bland? Same-y? Slash/Shoot/Hack and over. Well this mod fixes that. Some factions are resistant to some hacks. Some factions are resistant to some weapons. No fight will ever be the same again.

Enable Advert Animations (ads) and Always Best Quality _ Ads - Map - Hud - Photo Mode - Vending Machines and More — Default adverts in CP2077 are kinda lifeless. These two mods will bring life into them and in great quality to boot.

Nano Drone - It's 2077. Get a drone.

Kiroshi Optics Night Vision Mod - Night city really does its name justice. Some parta of the game is almost pitch black. Thankfully night vision mod will enable you to become the perfect predator in the dark of the night (city). P.s. There's also a flashlight mod that does the same thing but when I played the game, phantom liberty patch had broken it.

Stealthrunner - Stealth Gameplay Extension — Fancy being Evie Frye instead of Jacob Frye? This mod gives you optional objectives in each side and main quests. A new stealth skill tree and various perks.

Well tbh the main story makes sense. V's just a dead man walking. And I don't think nobody gets a happy ending in Night City. If you watch the Cyberpunk Edrunners anime, you get the sense that everyone tries to just blows up big enough to get a drink named after them. Pretty depressing I know. But that's cyberpunk genre I guess.

CDPR blew the gasket on romance for me personally. I think if you play as hetero male, she's the only romancable noc (except that romp with Meredith Stout :D

RE3 remake on PS4. Going for the no item box trophy.

I have 100%'d this on Steam tho

I never actually completed Psychonauts 2. It's not quite as sharp as the first game IMO, but I'm not entirely sure why I feel this way. My gut says it's becuase they are tackling bigger things.

Anyway

I have a few hours in that game and my problem is the beginning. I like the introduction, the bits where you play before entering the city, and the car chase and whatever, but then you go through a very long cut scene with what you do after that and that is where my Immeshun is broken. You know what would have made it better? Make it like Half-Life, where I don't have a choice but I have to go through it anyway. As it is I have in my head a version of my character that I'm piloting in this game, but then I'm thrown into this story in which the perspective is still that of the guy I'm piloting but I have zero agency, I have no input to what is happening on the screen, and the things that happen on screen are big things. The disconnect happens because I have controlled this character up to the point where I'm suddenly not controlling this character, and then I have to control him again but it's not the same guy because he just went through an extended period of time doing stuff on his own. And that cut scene very much makes it clear that I'm Bad Boy (and Party Guy), but the playable segment before that have options for you to not be a Bad Boy. And that is the disconnect. GTA works because being a Bad Boy is the bedrock of the game, but Cyberpunk 2077 gives you a glimpse of you NOT being that, but that doesn't matter because you are one anyway. I've tried to play it a lot, and there are many good things about it, but I can't get past that opening. It's not open ended enough. Which would have been fine with different presentation, but as it stands I feel like I'm playing GTA with some RPG elements and I'm not interested in that.

ANYWAY, got into Railway Empries a bit and it's ... pretty nice actually. In every game with any kind of network planning I suck at that planning, and that is also the case here, but so far I've managed.

If you can do that then you are a better man than me. It always made me happy to see the next item box so that I could sort through my hoard. I usually seemed to be carrying too much of what I didn't really need and needing what was in the box.

I just finished Still Wakes the Deep. I am now doing all the Resident Evil's in chronological order based off this:

Ever hear of "paralysis by analysis" ?
That is how I feel every time I boot up Netflix, or look at my games that is now over 100. Not so much that I'm like "there is nothing to play" (or watch in Netflix's case).....more like I'm literally frozen from trying to figure out which one I want to play. I take too long thinking about this crap, instead of just picking a game and playing it lol
Yep I recognize. Here is the antidote: good gaming is about dedication. Dedication leads to immersion. Immersion leads to great gaming experiences. You cant lose yourself in a world unless you go for it. Dont drop a game for days on end once you have started. Take it in for all that it is, and if it still doesnt work for you, stop gaming for a while or get into something else. Impose your own limits. Apply focus.

If you find yourself looking at a Steam library jumping from one thought to the next thinking how the game might be, it wont work.

Just finished Tomb Raider Definitive Edition on Game Pass and it only took me 20 hours, but that was over several months. Damn good game!

Think you got that right, they give you illusion that you have a choice in the matter, but really you didn't. If you been giving a choice, at least give one good path, F to those people who mentions 'no happy endings in bla bla bla' This is a game ffs you CONTROL the character, you turn it to whatever you wanted them to be. I really can't fathom you can't fix the guy because 'no happy endings' in the world where you can have implants from head to toe and have regular trips to the moon. Technology wise it SHOULD be possible.

Started The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. Interesting story so far. Also from time to time I love playing retro games. Pre-ordered Modretro Chromatic. It's a new (ultimate) version of OG Gameboy. It should arrive by end of year. Also decided to go shopping for some Game Boy games I wanted to play back in the days, but never bought them. So I buy Alien 3 cartridge on a local online marketplace here in Croatia, and immediately get scammed haha.

Playing Fallout London (when it does not crash) It's pretty good, interesting starting with nothing. Have found some ok guns now though, best is the sniper rifle.

NieR: Automata

I thought I'd finished the game, but it started all over again, now from the sidekick's point of view. I wasn't planning on a second run, but I'm getting more story details now, so what the heck. :)

All in all, it's not a bad game, but it doesn't impress me as much as the friend of mine I got it from said it would. Some of my points:

+ The graphics are okay for the age, although I'm not a fan of the overly colourful Japanese pow-pow style.
+ The music is amazing!
+ The presentation is good, the little robots you're fighting against are kind of cute, and the protagonist... Hmmm... Let's not continue this train of thought. :p Which brings me to...

- The overall idea. Sexy android girls fighting with gigantic samurai swords against rusty robots in the far future? What... The... Fuck...? :kookoo: Or am I the only one who doesn't get it?
- The core topic of the game is kind of bland. How do we define life? Are machines alive if they have feelings? These are questions everyone who's seen a computer in their lives has asked at least once.
- The story doesn't make much sense. It kind of ping-pongs from one thread to the next without answering anything. There are characters whose motivation isn't explored, there are things that just happen without any reason, explanation or consequence just because the plot says so, there are interesting thoughts retconned in as text that should have been explored more deeply, and so on. It's just not well-written.
- I don't like the controls. The way the game swaps between 2D and 3D perspectives is annoying and not fun.

Overall score: 6/10. Just a touch above average. Like I said, it's an enjoyable game, but nothing special, and a bit too weird, at least for me.

Lara Croft Go is probably the most addictive puzzle game I've ever played.
I've played about ten hours on the Steam version, but when I changed phones, lost all my mobile saves, but I managed to copy the PC saves over to my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, having to install FV File Explorer app first because of Android file protection.
I only mention this because I've got a long haul flight coming and this game really eats up the time! In fact, I may even buy a Samsung tablet in the UK for the return flight and a better viewing experience.
