Do you think speakers are too simple?

Hello there, hope everyone is doing good.
I had a second hand Altec Lansing produced in 2006 but unfortunately failed on me. Weird enough, I couldn't find any mid/mid-high class 2+1 in my country. I remember there were tons of different models of creative, altec, microlab, edifier models 10 years ago but now I could only find cr*p Logitech products. So I decided to buy usb powered HP speakers. Do you think these speakers look too simple for this set up?

As far as it slams upon your ears well enough it's fine. How it looks is up to you, not to us. You're the one looking at them.

Looks don't really matter unless you're trying to apply to 'rate my setup' shows or boards. If they're inoffensive to you and sound good for you, then they work.

I haven't kept abreast of PC speakers since switching over to headphones exclusively for my desktops, but I have seen fewer and fewer 2.1 options specifically for PC and pretty much zero 5.1 (or more) options that show up in stores. They're still made by Razer, Creative Labs, and Logitech, though some classic names like Altec Lansing and Harman Kardon seem to have switched exclusively to portable speakers. Sound bars seem to be the latest option that many manufacturers are gravitating towards. I don't have any experience myself, but the quality ones can supposedly perform very well in providing sound to larger spaces without the complexity of additional speakers.

Doesn't matter what they look like, if they do what you need them to do and provide a decent sound for you!, then the rest is moot, personally I have gone down the route of passive bookshelf speakers and an AMP for my PC setup, can have them as low as I want for whatever and have the police banging on the door if I decide to turn them up and play some old skool techno at 1am in the morning it's personal preference basically and if they serve the purpose you need from them then that's all that matters, you can probably pick some of those older 2:1/5:1 sets up for not much on eBay, I agree though, computer speakers have gotten shit over the last decade or so, sure it had something to do with Windows doing away with 3D sound when Windows 10 was released, my memories sketchy about it though, but yes used to be a lot of surround systems for PC and nowadays not so much, hence why I went down the route of using passive bookshelf speakers

I also dont think they too simple for a setup like this. They are alright. I just suggest you to find a way to hide the cables behind of the monitor for cleaner look. These small speakers would look even better after that.

Just because Logitech makes some really budget, and cheap sounding speakers, do NOT assume or suggest all their products are crap. In fact, some of their higher end speaker sets are quite nice, for computer speakers.

Having said that, considering a 1/2 way decent home audio system can cost $1000 (or several times more) for just the unpowered front left speaker, do not think for a second that anything you buy marketed as a computer speaker is high fidelity.

The problem is more money or fancier looks don't buy better sound or longevity. All computer speakers are flawed in ways you are going to notice using them daily.

Keep in mind there are two basic categories of speakers; Music and Multimedia.
These HP are very solidly multimedia. Gaming, youtube, movies and a small amount of music still favors multimedia.

2.1 speakers might be an upgrade. DAC, amp, and 4" or larger woofers would be another path.
Having the speakers elevated and aimed directly at your ears is of primary importance no matter what you are using. You want to create the stereo effect not aim sound at your chest.

I go for big sound using leftover Polk satellites paired with an AJ 10" powered sub. That runs thru a Fiio K5 Pro for DAC/head amp which is then passed thru to an OriGain amp. It's not expensive but the sound is big and it's not like I'll ever need to use onboard ftw.

Agreed. These are the speakers that 95% of people will be happy to have and will be set "for life". A little on the chunky side for speakers on your desk, but damn the sound is worth it. I got the DB version as a gift for a close friend. They sound very warm and pleasant and got enough oomph if you want to throw a little party now and again.

It depends what sound quality one want's to have. Speakers can be really simple and others are highly complicated. If you are fine with that speakers they have the taste you want. A longer time ago i owned Logitech G??? 2.1 speakers. They did sound not that bad. Right now i own a DAC/Headphone Amp combination with better headphones. they sound much more high end than all the PC-Gamers products. But this combination also is far away from a gamers Pricetag.

Just one thing. If you really are in Turkey, can't you ask a neighbor etc who has relatives in germany to order some speakers and let send them to turkey.

There is slight a bit of irony here. You are asking questions for things that you otherwise wouldnt have gotten with the $35 set of HP speakers.

These edifiers are guaranteed to have a 10000x more bass. Maybe not dedicated subwoofer levels of bass but a nice healthy punch as they are ported at the front to give more bass.

They will sound much better than your HP speakers and most speakers that come with your average Hi-fi setup. The DB model also has bluetooth so its slightly more costly than the T model but both speakers should otherwise sound the same. T model just has the BT module removed so if you dont need BT then the cheaper T will do.

Bass is surprisingly good. Some audio snobs would say it's "boomy". It's not quite subwoofer level, but it's respectable for everyday use. I think the construction is MDF, that certainly helps. Bass and treble controls are present so you can tune them to your taste. Check out the 1280 models it there's a store near you, so you can decide if they will suit you -- they all produce generally the same sound. The bluetooth models are worth the slight premium, in my personal opinion.

going through this exact issue. I have klipsch sattelites on my desk and they need bigger drivers for sure. saw many selling cheap active speakers. for like $70. theyre big through. 60cm height . I dont care though. big but I want full sound. I want a desktop speaker that has at least a 6.5" driver for midrange and midbass. the compromise is size but im fine with that.

the problem is the small midrange driver on the klipsch are like 3". thats not enough for a full sound. I also just received a 12" active sub. the par between the klipsch 3" to the 12" shows. its missing midrange and midbass.

my desk is around your size. my case sits to the left. that will move on the sub box that sits adjacent to the left of the desk. then pull my desk a bit from the wall to fit the speaker a bit back. but I was with small speakers as you have. if you dont have a 6.5" driver, gets something with that. preferebly 8"

not for the rumbly boom vibrating bass but the nice deeper hum sound it fills. those speakers sound tin-ey for sure. shrill. like my klipsch.

btw you can use equalizer APO to tweak the sound but theres no replacement for displacement. those drivers cant hack it. like my klipsch. theyre ok. but not immersive. time to level up.

If the bass side of things is important but you want to keep things simple, clean and tidy, there are a few solid options that are not expensive but still sound good.

FTR, I've heard Edifier speakers before. And the set I heard did sound nice for their size. No argument there. But they are pricy, and hard to find. And their marketing weenies are on drugs - but I guess that goes with the job.
