Kratos and his son Atreus are back in God of War Ragnarök, a sequel to the epic God of War reboot. The end of the world is here and Kratos has to help Atreus uncover his destiny and prepare for the epic battle against the Norse gods. The former PS exclusive looks and plays brilliantly but how does it run on Steam Deck and ROG Ally? Find out in our God of War Ragnarök handheld performance review.

A rare 30W TDP recommendation. Nice call on increasing VRAM to avoid stutter. It seems like it wont be too much longer before major game releases are too much for these handhelds, which will suck.

Not really. I bought my Deck LCD and my Deck OLED for indie gaming, which I own like 400+ indie games that are fun, not to mention the 500+ more I have on backlog, and the emulation capabilities for nostalgia. I could care less about AAA titles getting released, that's what my desktop is for.

Putting 4 watts power cap on a PlayStation 2 game, and seeing the battery last like 10 hours is so damn satisfying.

This is a very interesting review. Never thought I’d see handheld reviews.

Agreed. I'm especially surprised because I thought this game couldn't run on the Steam Deck because of Sony's requirement for PSN.

They removed that requirement

They removed that requirement
I heard about a mod that came out recently that allows one to bypass the PSN requirement, but I did not hear anything official about Sony actually removing the requirement for steam deck.......

I googled online and all I have been getting is mixed signals with no definite answer about the requirement being removed.... Am I missing something lol.

ProtonDB has the game as Gold status with one post for the steam deck saying there was a PSN popup.

It was after they got more backlash about it recently.

This isn’t even remotely close to true. You can run this game a 1080p 60fps with the right combo of settings.

The requirement is still there on the steam page. Front and center right above the purchase line in a orange highlighted box.

"Notice: PlayStation Network Account required, subject to the PlayStation Terms of Services and User Agreement http://www.playstationnetwork.com/terms-of-service"
