Sell the 4070 Super go lower tier?

Coming back to the "silly thought" of selling your card to get a decent amd replacement with a decent 1440p monitor: yes, why not?
Treat your eyes now so that they will betray you a little later ;)

And concerning owning a primary 4K monitor:
At some point you´ll find something that looks too small if you try to put native 4k through a 32 inch or smaller monitor. Sure it´s possible. But it´ll always be a tiny bit iffy.

So why not make that "4k" question display size dependent?
And if the 4k answer is yes: Any monitor bought now has hdmi 2.1 limitations.

So the monitors endgame will be a 4090.
Keep that in mind, juuust in case
Yes, I am putting this in my mind while reading twice the comments. 4K with this 21:9 aspect ratio idea, Need a 4090.
But also treating my eyes takes contact lenses. 4K looks like 1024x768 at max settings with removed.

OK, so what is price range for 1440P monitor. 200 bucks? 34" curved. Think that's what the kid has. Not sure I dig it after staring pultruding tube tvs and crts to staring at flat screens, now I might make a life change to concaved curved screens????

I should just use the VR headset. Steal the Quest II from the kids. Don't think they use it any ways. Almost forgot about that thing. Maybe I don't need a monitor???

Are you using MSI Afterburner ? If yes did you unlock the Voltage? (because it's not enabled by default)
Correct. This card is locked Voltage. Is that not normal? Doesn't need more I don't think. Hits 3Ghz rather easily I might say.

Well if you do 3440x1440p there's a ton of monitors out there. I went from 4k to a 40"MSI one around $350. It's way easier on my 6900XT than pushing 4K.

GPUs with voltage locked by default are usually OEM ones (just like a lot of Laptops are locked on purpose to avoid overheating).
But what do you see on MSI Afterburner? If the option greyed out? What do you see?

Or you know you could always do a giveaway for members registered in April 2013 here :D
Darn I just got a 4060 Ti. Talk about bad timing while looking for deals!

Slider is greyed out. Install is fairly new also. Does the same on W10. As far as I can tell, it's locked. Can get screen shots tomorrow evening whatever you want to see. Just too late where Im at. Need some sleep.

Jesus. 350 Dollars? Does it cook and clean? I was thinking like 150 range.

I had one of those too. Decent card, mine clocked well.

I'd say keep the RTX 4070 Super and get better monitor. For some time on and off I was trying to compare my RX6700XT (NR200P build) to my 4060LP (ML-09B) build and while the RX6700XT edged out the 4060LP in performance (and vram advantage) the 4060LP just felt smoother and the out of the box experience just felt better with my games. Not a lot of scientific comparison in that I admit but if you've already got the juice of a much better card might as well make the best of it with a better monitor. And yes not exactly and apples to apples comparison either in my example but my point I guess may be if your experience was already good with the GPU you have there isn't much point in downgrading the GPU. Upgrade the monitor instead to enhance your experience.

Keep the gpu before you know it there is a new game you come across and you wish you have the gpu power for it…
Exactly my thoughts. I have downgraded my PC countless times only to realise a year or two down the line that there's something new coming out that could use the extra oomph that I didn't have anymore.

Even the cash I made with the downgrade was gone in a split second. The money we make on our seemingly unneeded used hardware isn't as much as it seems. So even with parts that I actually don't need, I rather repurpose them, or save them as spare parts or collector's items these days.

3440x1440 is the thing to move towards if you upgrade monitors. Don't go higher. Don't get a humongous 4K 16:9 that guarantees neck cramps, or a too small one that forces you to downgrade to relative 1080p real estate because you need 200-300% scaling to read text.

Its really something great to have two full height windows side by side on the same monitor. It also adds a whole new dimension to WIN+directional button in Windows to reorder things on screen, its super nice, like having two screens without the bezel in the middle of your face.

For gaming, anything 3D viewport just gets an immersion boost from it too. I also like that at 34 inch, the PPI of such screens is just high enough to skip AA, you don't really need it, and this means running more games natively without a vaseline TAA too without looking like a mess. Ghosts of Tsushima without AA for example... is insanely crisp.

And then just ride the 4070S as long as it lasts for you.

Slider is greyed out by default, you need to enable it!
Check that screenshot for how to do it!
(Ps: you might need to restart MSI Afterburner after clicking on "Apply/OK")

If you want to keep a tight budget and still game at the top, buy as little as possible, and when you DO buy, get the best thing you can afford at a price that isn't overinflated. And sell your old hardware at a moment it still isn't entirely obsolete.

Hmm weird... do you have 1 or 2 BIOSes on your GPU ? Maybe 1 of them is locked (the OC one is usually the one you can unlock)

Also if you need to Undervolt your GPU you don't need to use the voltage slider, you can simply use the Curve Editor (the large bottom left icon) and set a specific clock for a specific voltage.
This guy explains how to do that :

He is using a 4090 so that's different but you should be able to make something that works for you!

My 3080Ti gets about 70-120 FPS 1440p maxed so I doubt a 6700 XT would break 30 FPS.
Playing modern games at maximum settings is just stupid. I managed to play fine at 4K with 6700 XT with FSR quality and using reasonable settings. With my current 3080, I use DLSS quality and try to have 100+fps in 4K. Luckily I have so much games in my backlog so no need to upgrade in a while to play all these unoptimized newer releases.

War thunder is actually extremely optimized. It plays on a potato.

Thing is it's good to have scaling levels. DLAA is great for the game as is RT.

Yep, I'm on the "Keep the Card" train like everybody else.

The 4070 Super is probably one of NVidias 4xxx better value GPU's atm.

The card is an rtx3090 equivalent with a better set of software exclusive to 40 series

60fps racing on a massive 4K tv using a controller 4x faster than Xbox/PS is the currently attractive alternative to escaping mediocrity with $$$$$$$$.
With it becoming impossible to avoid screens. It becomes very easy to find ones that were replaced twice already with next year's model for nothing or next to it. ;)

You should be ashamed for buying 4xxx even if everyone else fell prey to that old saying about something being the enemy of distinction. Next you'll be earnestly attempting to justify a "The more you buy, the more you save" attitude towards Apple products. :p

That's comical. Ashamed of myself!!

Again, in case you missed the post (first one) I purchase cards (previous to now) for benchmarking purposes. I mean, even exclaimed top 100th place 3DMark03 while using 14700K at six point six gigahertz.

Just not a big gamer like I was nearly 20 years ago. I'm way out of practice and touch for just turning on a PC and NOT being in bios tweaking, rather than just fire up and go gaming.

I believe it does have a bios switch. Will look into this for sure. But I don't remember lower end cards like the 4060 ti having it unlocked either. 3060 ti didn't unlock and 3060 didn't unlock and 3050 was definitely locked. But will look deeper into this, thank you for the heads up!

I went from COD to Forza and MSFS lol..

Good times!

I bought a recent COD for Nuketown.. same old same old..

Well aware. Fairly sure I also understand the reasoning behind making this thread.

Very good then! I do appreciate the feedback back either way though.

It just feels like way more than I need.

Suggestions for games that could utilize the card would be appreciated. Played Forza, but have that on the Xbox. Forward 4 I think anyways.

If you are happy with the console, Christmas is right around the corner.. that cash could probably come in handy.

Outside of games, it should be pretty decent with F@H..

Driving games are every bit as much in a doldrum as the rest of gaming. Unless you are in line with agriculture and other heavy trucking.

4070 Super or similar 3xxx feel overpowered for most things and barely adequate (30fps) for others. Might be useful if you hang onto it or hardly missed if you sell it.
