Next Gen GPU's will be even more expensive

This should be the cost of RTX 5000 series with accordance with 2 decades of previous pricing from Nvidia themselves, taking into account inflation as well.

RTX 5090 $1200 (a Titan type product that can have a price premium for being the absolute best)
RTX 5080 $800 (considering there is no TI product this and last generation, this is the absolute best for normal consumers, meaning people who still have to work 8 hours a day, 6 days a week to be able to afford stuff. This leaves Nvidia with at least 10% profits over what it costs to bring and sell to market)
RTX 5070ti $600 (likely to sit closer to the 5080 than the 5070, its a bridge between the two cards and historically $600 is not an insane price for this tier)
RTX 5070 $450 (considering its got only 12gb of vram this is a very weak card, 12gb can already be used up in several games at highest settings and only 1440p resolutions, historically the 70 series has not been more than the $400-490 price range)
RTX 5060TI $300 (forget the little TI bit, this is essentially the true 5060, we get a TI only so it can be sold at a premium, so in essence its the real 5060 and should not sell for more than $300)
RTX 5060 $230 (in all intents and purposes this is a x050 series card, it will come with a measly 8GB of vram and 128bit bus interface, which is way too low for 2025)
RTX 5050 $130 (in all reality this is a GT 730 type card, GT 1030 type card, so its barebones entry level, it should not cost a penny over $150, should probably go for $120)

Man there will never gonna a happy new year in this thread  .

If 5090 were to crush 4090 by at least 50% in raster and 70-100% in RT it's gonna be a happy new year for me :D

Nobody should be upset over the price of the halo card which is always going to be priced crazy.

But if it is 50% faster but also 50% more expensive that still sucks and means they've made zero progress in 2+ years. Nobody should be ok with that unless they have so much disposable income they are wiping their ass with Benjamin's although a lot of 4090 owners will likely sell at an ok price so even if the 5090 is 2500 that might only be 1-1.2k out of pocket depending on region I guess while it sucks it sucks slightly less.

I mean last gen we got 50% more performance with the 4080 for 70% more money so it isn't unprecedented for Nvidia to jack up prices more than the actual progress generation to generation.

In a couple generations we could be looking back at the 4090 and saying damn that was a good deal lol.

I'm actually pretty interested in what pricing will actually be and if a 5080 would actually sell at 12-1500 if it's basically a 4090 16GB with some new feature.... That would be a 20-50% bump over the 4080 super for 30% more performance....

Most people upset wouldn't buy a 5090 even if it was 1200 they just know if that was the price the 5070 would be cheaper. I've said this before the bigger dissappointment is how bad the sub 600 market a 4070 is pretty damn slow for a 5-600 usd gpu and yeah the super fixed that a bit but that was a year later I'd only use it at 1080p.

I'm more interested in what the 5070/5070ti cost and how good they actually are, 90% of the builds I do fall in the 5-800 range for the gpu.

You're thinking the raster way for that +50% for +70% price. But nVidia cards suppose to have other great features too as its so much discussed around the web.
RT and DLSS are not for free.

BTW a $1000+ card should not come with 16GB. nVidia cards are suppose to do everything close to perfection, including FG...
...and recently came across to this

Undeniably a great card overall

That is always going to come down to the individual consumer to decide the 7900XTX has a ton of vram but is way too slow in a lot of games I play specifically with how I want to play them for example but for someone else it might be the perfect card.

I had a hard time picking between the 4080/4090 but basically came to the same conclusion the 4080 wasn't good enough for a 1200 usd card had it launched at 999 I probably would have pulled the trigger on it. I care more about what I am getting for my $$$ more so than how much $$$ it actually cost.

Although with a toddler I may need to lean more towards value going forward....

LoL you mean people who are willing to pay ridiculous prices as they apparently have loads of money
Yes, exactly those people. The market isn't just about you and me. It's about a huge number of people with a huge number of dollars and not so much interest in value-conscious buying.

Who's gonna tell bro he's been in a coma since 2018
Please, not the "this is the world we live in today" argument again!:fear:

We are the world. We shape it the way we want to. We're not slaves of big tech. We're only slaves of what we buy.

Most people upset wouldn't buy a 5090 even if it was 1200
I wouldn't buy any GPU for 1200. Even that price is way over what I consider a sensible price for a toy.

"My darling, be home soon. I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled."
I'm gonna get me one and there won't be no crying. Ever! No tears for 3090, No tears for 4090.
FEAR THE FROG, not the 5090.

Wow, yep, you're right 6 years. I must have been thinking Pascal by mistake. Genuine math fail on my part.

Yeah, I was a little shocked when I started up some newish games on my 3080 Ti and when it detected my hardware, it turned off all RT in the settings. In my mind I was like gee this was a $1200 card new (I bought it used).

I guess my biggest sticking point with regards to pricing is that since RT became a thing, prices consistently increased. First with Turing, then again with Lovelace. Meanwhile the mid-range has gotten expensive, and the mainstream market is kind of stagnating on the Nvidia side. If you actually want any decent gen on gen increases, it's basically pay up for the high-end.
It's a card from 2020 don't forget, and Ray Tracing has evolved too, now most new games have Path Tracing. Also, it suggests tuning it off because the performance hit has always been high. Iirc, a lot of games that ran RT perfectly fine on my 3080 had it off if you used optimized settings in GFE, but used 4K DSR. I think the way this is set up is still to priozitize resolution over settings.

With AMD out of the high end market and essentially leaving Nvidia the $600+ segment just for themselves and apparently Nvidia using the more expensive GDDR7 memory, as well as decent increase in cores on a more expensive process node as well, the next gen high end graphics are going to be even more expensive, so if you were hoping for the next generation to bring in some sanity, think again!

Latest leaks show the 5090 will used around 600W, over 20k cores and will cost around $2500. The next GPU down the line the 5080 will cost around $1500 and only the mid range 5070 non TI to cost bellow $1000 or around $800 dollars, with the 5070TI costing $1000.

Assuming AMD is very competitive in the mid range segment with aggressive pricing, then we can expect the 5060TI to cost around $500, the 5060 around $400 and the 5500 around $300.

AMD are likely to undercut Nvidia in the mid and low end segment with prices of the 8800XT from $500, 8700XT $400, 8600XT $300 and 8500XT $200.
There is no way I would buy a GeForce card because of being a AMD fanboy . That being said I got close this week but after extensive research I chose to save Aus $500 dollars on a Radeon and sacrifice 20 fps on the games I play at 1440p
…. I guess I’m saying nvdia is being
Marketed as the most powerful graphics card , but by such a small visual improvement, not 500 dollars worth ! Stuff u nvidia

That's an illusion that buyers of the most expensive stuff like to cloud their own minds with. Penis envy perhaps? ;)

Personally, I would never want any card that eats more than 300 W for any price. Even if I got a 5090 for free, I'd sell it and put the money somewhere more useful, like into a holiday with the missus.

Then why comment on halo products? These are for enthusiasts, which by the sounds of it, you are not. If you are happy with what you have then why complain?

So an "enthusiast" is only someone who wants a halo product? Being enthusiastic about any other PC hardware doesn't count anymore? That's sad.

I'm not commenting on a halo product. I'm commenting on GPUs getting more expensive. They aren't just more expensive, but more excessive as well. The top-end is way out of a casual gamer's needs, like myself.

Besides, "be positive or shut the F up" is not the way I roll. A forum is about sharing thoughts, whether they are for or against a certain object or idea. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, in my books I've always been an enthusiast, even when owning 5+ year old hardware in the past. It's about how passionate you are. Now I hardly consider myself one, even though my hardware is pretty new. Just don't feel it anymore. I keep the PC for work mostly. An office PC with a 600eur card is nice.

Don't lose the plot. Remember how the average PC user is and how gamers are separated with more than a few lines in the sand.
If you decide ANYTHING other than prebuilt, you are NOT on auto-pilot. That is omen of enthusiast at the bare minimum.
I can't believe ya'll need the sanity check this early.

I can be just as happy finding a working Sandy Bridge system at a carboot / flea market sale for pennies as I am about new hardware. Firing up a new-ish game on an old system and seeing it running brings me lots of joy - more than playing with high-end hardware, I would say. This is what makes an enthusiast in my eyes: the joy of PC building regardless of costs. Not having the latest shiny hardware all the time.

I want the Hemi Challenger Hellcat, not the six cylinder model. And I bought her a new Apple Watch and she's tickled sh*tless. ASUS ROG Strix RTX5090 OR BUST! I got 1300 Watts. Certified 80 PLUS Platinum. We will fear NO GPU's.

For me being an enthusiast means you can talk in-depth about certain topic/product, not just the price .

If one put price at the forefront of his judgement, more than likely that he will fall for cheap product that are just crap (kinda like fast fashion).

BTW if you are knowledgeable enough, there are good pre-built options too

That's sad.
Sad is reading in every Nvidia thread Team red users complaining endlessly about everything.

That is pathetic.

5 years later nothing has changed, why would it change now?

Those are the arguments that have no base in reality. "I want it because I can, mwahaha." Sure, be happy with your expensive stuff. Just don't let it get into your head too much. ;)

Edit: My missus wanted a foldable phone, so I bought her a Blackview Hero 10 for a 3rd of the price of a new Galaxy Flip. She was tickled shitless, too.

This is not an Nvidia thread, and there's no team red here. We're talking about expensive GPUs. I could be talking about the 7900 XTX as well, it makes no difference.

As long as people buy everything regardless of price or value, nothing will change. That much is certain.

Yeah, but there's no joy in buying pre-built for most of us. I mean, who here hasn't spent days or weeks researching every detail down to the thermal paste and fan acoustics. I mean, at the time of buying, I even knew the ripple values on the 12V line of my PSU down to a mv. I knew the difference in r/w speeds between different types of nand, both sequential and random, to pick the drives. I checked the pixel response times and overshoot of every monitor in the price range. Using is fun, but making it really yours, that's where the thrill of "enthusiast build" is, no matter if it's a $2000 card or a $2000 pc.

My mistake, this thread is not an Nvidia thread. But that's ok, all one needs to do is look in recent Nvidia threads to see what I am talking about.

Man, I really like Rolex watches, but they are waay too expensive. Why should I wear a Rolex when a Casio does the same thing.

That is what I read over and over lol.

Of course, fanboyism is a real problem these days, on both sides. There's the "I'll never buy AMD because it's cheap shit" camp, and the "Nvidia screws you over so screw them" side. This really is sad.

Just please, don't extrapolate your (well funded) hatred against fanboyism onto my posts. I'm not a fan of anything other than good value (compared to one's needs), and open source gaming. :)

Edit: Oh, and I hate fanboyism as much as you do, believe me.

Well, yeah. It really does the same thing. :D

Joking aside, you can be an "enthusiast" and buy the most expensive stuff. All the power to you. But all I'm saying is, looking into other parts of the market and finding value on your own terms doesn't make you less of an enthusiast, and it doesn't make your opinion less valid. You don't need to wear a Rolex to call yourself a fan of watches, you don't need to own a Ferrari to call yourself a fan of cars. :)
