Anime Nation

Online lists are messed up. None of them include gems like OddTaxi, Ya Boy Kongming, Angel Beats or the like.
Those website are places to track everything you've watch and note it. It's always personnal and the general noting don't mean a lot since it depends on your liking.
If you follow the general rating "rule" I've share to space lynx, you will be able to find some good show and see that the ones you love are, I hope, well noted and there's also people writting great review about them if you scroll on the anime page.
Odd Taxi was well received.

For those that are watching Bluelock.
Nagi goal kinda reminds me of these supershots from Captain Tsubasa Rise of new champion.
The 2:32 and 3:50
I think it would be hype seeing Blue lock team challenge Captain Tsubasa in some crazy collab movie or something.

hmmm may have to check that... I *loved* Gunslinger Girl, any similarity?
Not a lot, gmc is more about hot babes, cool rides, guns, action and grenades too...
Lots of action, no drama...

Well i've been casually watching Macross plus OVA edition on Disney+, wish it got more recognition(macross in general) from the west.
If you think about it..it pioneered virtual idol(V-tubers and Vocaloid), apart from that but the story, visuals, voice actors and soundtrack.

Frieren is... truly worthy of this high honor. It's such an easy going, enjoyable story that will make all kinds of viewers excited. I have very high expectations of its second season.

I dunno. I always compare Frierrn to Ranking of a Kings.

Frieren wins on art (Ranking of Kings is iconic but the art turns a lot of people off). But when it comes to heartfelt dramatic scenes, Frieren drops off quickly for me.

The first arc of Frierrn was very well written and the original party vs the Demon Lord is a great source of intrigue. I want to learn more about them.

But the demons are kinda flat. Which is the point and nice for once. But it does mean that the demons barely have room for character interactions as we know they are just assholes.

The mages in the exam are hit and miss for me. I think I can connect well with the old dwarf but the bulk of 'development' for everyone else is kind of one-punch-man esque. IE they underestimate others then are surprised when someone else over performs.

Which was.... Cool when One Punch Man did it? But when we have Sense underestimating Ubel and this is like the 5th time in this show where this underestimate->surprise->oh I understand you better now trope is played, I'm wondering if the author is unable to deliver a better drama arc.

---------

In contrast, pretty much every character in Ranking of Kings has depth. Even the demon is showing that he is cursed to provide people with bad wishes (and the Mirror lady Miranjo might be the only one who understands that).

Ranking of Kings is the cheesier (by today's standards) all villains are just misunderstood trope.

I appreciate Frieren for making the demons just.... Bad Guys. But it is a lost opportunity for character interactions. The number of good character interactions is also pretty low, especially given the huge cast.

On the other hand, maybe the simpler and repetitive storytelling style of Frieren is more like Naruto. It's repetition on purpose to make the world feel more connected. (In Naruto, the genius always beat the lazy guy, so then the Lazy Guy worked harder and later beat the natural born genius). Whether Frieren is a recursive story with interconnected characters... Or just plain dumbly repetitive, I dunno yet it depends on what the next seasons will bring.

But I think a lot of people overvalue Frieren just because it's first 5 episodes were god-tier. I don't think the later episodes kept up with other top tier shows though.

To me, the appeal of this story is all about Frieren gaining a deeper understanding of emotion and, motivated by the enormous regret she feels for never reciprocating the love that Himmel had for her, ultimately realizing that she, too, had feelings for him and is slowly learning how to love herself. The adventure is great (very DnD-esque design, but that's also part of the charm), and I agree that some of the characters in the cast could have been elaborated further, but this anime fell victim to the "12-episode format plague", and was dragged on all the way to episode 28 due to its sheer popularity.

Well yeah. It's the Hikkomori trope.

Hmmm. Have you seen Anohana? They pull this off a whole lot better.

A closed hermit who has shut out society slowly is pulled back in. Like Frieren, it is a long lost love (well, the ghost of his child crush) that pulls him back into society and is forced to confront emotions he doesn't fully understand. And this grows as a character.

Arcane season 1 --- 9/10
Arcane season 2 --- 10/10

Damn, that was epic. I love the art style too.

Well it's official, I started watching Frieren. Really liking the grain texture they did to try to emulate the "old" look of the animation.

Not sure what happened to Crunchyroll's run, but Netflix UK starts showing Naruto on Dec 1st.

Saw this Wallpaper and instantly thought of this thread.

I cropped it a bit and scaled it up for 2160p. For those of you that celebrate, enjoy!

Ive been checking out some Kengan Ashura.

some of the art style and colour palette really reminds me of Attack On Titan.

I am semi-familiar with that franchise. I used to read the manga on an old Lenovo tablet before it decided to eat the MicroSD and I never bother turning it back on again.

It's definitely above average storytelling with a beautiful art style.

My only beef is that IMO stronger stories (like Ranking of Kings) get ignored. But Frieren is probably the best looking anime recently (competing with Oshi no Ko as the other very beautiful show).

Well all of Bluelock budget went in the last 2 episodes and it paid off.

Binged episodes 1-5 from Creature Commandos....gotta say it caught me off guard. There is something in there different. Dr. Phosphorus is growing on me, I know he is supposed to be a bad guy, nemesis of Batman, but in this series is kind of a jolly fella.

I am currently Watching Armitage/Armatage III, in a way its like Blade Runner. Have been watching You're Under Arrest! Will See Gunsmith Cats, Black Lagoon, Jubei-Chan, Tank Police, Patlabor, Ronin Warriors. There are many others from the late 80s early 90s i should see.

Its sad when they are short and tgen others that are ridiculously long, like naruto, one piece, bleach, way too much.
