What is this?! What kind of improvement is this after 2,5 years?

Lol, so much for integrity Igor, first he slams YouTubers then he posts entire review before embargo lift.

5080's reviews should be live today or tomorrow - now I can't recall the exact date. In other words - really soon.

As for IgorLab's results, they are pretty much aligned with what was estimated. No miracle, no RTX 5080 beating RTX 5090. Let's wait for reviews.

All the rest of disappointing reviews should be out in 5,5 hours.

I am grateful for the glitch in the publishing system, I will not spend next hours in useless great expectations.

the GPU market is worse than back in the mining crisis... now we have scalper prices directly from Nvidia and the 50 series sucks.

I mean, after 5090 showed that most of the uplift over 4090 was from increased core count and power consumption, you could sort of estimate this outcome. Judging by the specs, I bet when 5070 reviews hit it's going to be even funnier.

They priced the 5080 the same as 4080S. It is 8% better and has MFG. Still not much for long 2,5 years of development.

Stagnation and rot, AMD too lazy to even put anything out in high performance category.

There is a reason why Nvidia delayed the embargo until today. Why for 5090 they have unboxing video on their channel, why every marketing goes for 5090 not 5080. Because 5090 will be the only card with substantial performance improvements, still lacking in my opinion but at least they are there.

Current node hit the limit. They can improve raw performance just by scaling the compute units. Substantial efficiency and/or performance improvements might be seen with 3nm or 2nm. TSMC's 4N is just a "cosmetic" enhancement of their 5N node. There are no significant changes in Blackwell architecture present (compared to Ada). Blackwell improvements were aimed at "AI", not gaming. Those, who expected miracle, well, I can't find other words for expecting RTX 5080 being faster than RTX 4090 given the already known specs, will surely be disappointed. Forget about times when last gen. 2nd best SKU managed to beat previous gen. flagship. Those times are over.

Same fab, with practically no arch changes, what were you expecting? Unless they'd come up with another 900series style efficiency improvement (back when they were stuck on 28n for 600/700/900 series) there was no way there'd be any real improvements. Any minor improvements likely down to D7 + whatever minor improvement the new FP32/int32 + fp32 shader tweak might occasionally bring..

And yet, this will be the 3rd fastest card for gaming.
Exactly… it sucks? well theres no better card in the market that proves otherwise unfortunately ;(.

Given all the previous data we had on 5000-series - that's about in-line with what was expected. No big surprise there. Slightly faster VRAM, slightly higher TDP, and marginal core improvements only add up so far. As someone here on TPU said - it's a software upgrade.

And will be for at least another two years - wild! 4.5 years at more or less the same level of performance around ~$1000 mark. If games continue to up the requirements at the same rate they do now, everyone and their dog will be using framegen, lol.

To be fair there's also an even bigger CPU stagnation which means most people are CPU limited anyway, even at 4k (esp if you enable quality (aka 1440p) upscaling). Look at the HWcanucks review, they had 2-3 games from their review big time bottlenecked even at 4k on the 5090. My experience with the 4090 also tells me the same, you are bottlenecked even at 4k very often in demanding games. Play any rpg with rt, go into any city/big settlement and boom bottleneck city.

This is the problem I have been pointing to many times here. DLSS/FSR/XeSS and FG stuff helps game devs to neglect/omit game optimizations. It's not normal that GPUs like RTX 4090 can't run everything in 4K ultra on native, you are forced in games to use upscaling and FG to gain reasonable framerates. This is insane, given how much you pay for todays GPUs. We should boycott game devs and also GPU makers. They think we buy any shit they produce. Unfortunately, this is true, but not for everyone. Demand is still high no matter what they give us. Vote with your wallet. Another problem is that people lost reasoning when it comes to money. They just want things, they don't care about purpose or whether they really need them.

Good thing there are people like you comrade, to know what people really need and should do with their money.

I need help how to vote with my wallet. My current gpu shits the bed in FF7 Rebirth at 1440p 60fps even if I lower the dsr to 66%. What should I do? Get a PS5 Pro? I'm waiting for the Evga 3060Ti Ftw3 since 2020, but it never arrived.

That is not insane, the software just can do things that hardware cannot support at the moment. Just do not use every single option the software can do and max all settings out.

I think this situation is better than software lagging behind and chips being underutilised.

I shall do everything my wife proposes to ensure sustainable prosperity and progress for my children as well as for my nation.

Bring your wife some flowers. Then you won't have to sleep with GPU that shits the bed.
