TOXIC AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT

I need help. Every time I start a game I get a black screen, such as:

God of War Ragnarök
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

If I play DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, I never get a black screen. I have already reinstalled older or newer AMD drivers. It seems that the default Radeon Wattman settings were reset due to an unexpected system crash.

I was able to test Furmark, nothing happened with the graphics card, but I could hear a strange sound coming from the PSU.

The truth is that I was about to buy a Vetroo 1000W Black ATX 3.0 80 Plus Gold Modular CP-PSU-VT-GV1000 or also a DeepCool PX1000P as an alternative. Do you recommend that I buy it or not?

What are your system specs?

Could be your power supply can't handle the load being put on it or it's just old.

Would need to know more about your build.

Ohh man seen this so many times when I had my RX5700XT....my guess is PSU related issue. Wattage is not the only metric that matters.

Me prestaron una corsair cx750w ¿is it a bad option?

Its not a bad option but it isnt the best. You want an Corsair RMx or RMe for a 6900. They are built better and to a much higher standard. Seasonic power supplies are also very good but can be expensive but well worth the investment. You get 10 years warranty with a lot of their units so you will DEFINITELY get your monies worth out of them

My Plat Seasonic 750w would shutdown, you might just need a higher rated one at the very least 850w.

So you need to change the power supply to fix the black screen issue, right?

I ended up getting a 1000w. did not matter if the card was heavly underclocked it would just reboot\blackscreen.

You didn't provide us with too much info, so it is anyone's best guess at this point.

My RX 6950 XT would trip my Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750 watt. Upgraded to 1000 watt, and no more issues.

that psu should be more than enough to run that card, no point in making him go out and spend more money

No. No its not. Not when a 6900XT pulls a tonne of watts when loaded up. If he was running a more mid-range setup then it would be plenty fine but CX is low-mid range at best.

It is definitely not more than enough. RDNA 2 has insane transient spikes. Depending on other components and quality of PSU this might very well be the issue.

it's not A tier, but it's not a trash psu and 750W is fine. It seems to me like sending the man waste some money when we should help him diagnose the problem.

At least see if you have some computer store next to you to try another psu before wasting money.

I do think the PSU could be the at the heart of the problem, but this would be the sensible thing to do in either case.

If its not good enough to power his setup. It may as well be a trash PSU. Its no good for the OP either way.

for what I've seen on that chart what is trash it the 6900xt not that PSU. And people wonder why AMD isn't selling cards. I didn't knew about that.

Crapping on AMD isn't helping here. OP needs to test their system with a better PSU, there's no two ways about that.

Besides, both RDNA 2 and Ampere had terrible transient spikes.

i've looked, Ampere is no where near that bad. And i also don't see how that makes a PSU trash.
I gave what i think it's a good solution and i will leave it at that

Nobody said it's trash. We said it's probably inadequate for the purpose.

Yes, we know you hate everything AMD-related. Can we move on, please? :)

Black screens are not caused by power supply issues.

yes he said it was trash.
The OP bought the card for what 300usd, and the answer telling him to buy a "good 1000W" PSU, spend another 300usd, and throw a perfectly good PSU in the trash. If that's the issue the OP should just sell that card and move on.
Am i the only sane person here. :kookoo:

I have RX 6900XT and it's working perfectly fine on my FSP 700W Hyper so if your PSU does not have any issues it should work fine 'tho depends what is the rest of your PC specs + also many of you guys like to have all kinds of lights and other tweaks that using additional power
