Some VR for Mom

Mom's (68) recently got a Meta (I still call it Oculus) Quest 2 and I'm so thankful because that and the workout software we subscribed to has motivated her to start losing weight. And that's got me wondering if there's any other VR software that would capture her attention and get her up on her feet more.

Any software suggestion for Mom?

Thanks

beat saber is the game I hear of most for exercising, I have never played it myself, so research it some maybe

Right on, thanks. I've seen that one mentioned probably the most also.

beat saber is awesome, gets me worn out.

Your mom is cool lol, mine is 63 and has no desire for video games.

My wife however, loves beat saber lol

Tried Beat Saber at my friend's, and I think it would help with your mom's goal. Gets you worn out - confirmed and double-confirmed.

For working out there is nothing better than Les Mills body combat. Fantastic workout, no monthly fees, compete against others, and fun!

I know this is odd but blade and sorcery is really fun and could be a good game for exercise too. You move your arms a lot in combat. Hope this helps.

Beat Saber is good, but what really caught my attention was a subscription model app - Supernatural - that IIRC, is $10 a month.

I use BS as a warm-up for SN. It's similar to Beat Saber - hitting balloons with bats instead of slicing blocks with swords - and it has a very wide selection of music and genres, but it's specifically designed as exercise - even has an option to link in a heart BPM monitor and show you your stats after each round. They include knee strikes, squats, and lunges to each side built in - though you can disable those - and a variety of "coaches" talking you through and cheering you on. They also have, in addition to that, a separate "boxing" option.

There's a seperate phone app with which you can track your stats, and an online community if you're social enough to participate.

LOL... It was on the first page of the "Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality" sub, and it specifically addressed a subject I'm interested in so I figured it was fair game. :)

I see you're new here. First of all, welcome. :)

Secondly, as a rule of thumb, if a thread is old, don't answer it (OP probably buggered off, so there's no point). If you have a question, open your own thread.

If you have a question to OP (opening post - the thread opener) specifically, then ask away, but don't expect an answer. It will most probably never come. So you may as well just open your own thread instead.

The other forums I used to frequent before TPU hated opening threads with questions already existing in other threads, so I understand this may seem a little weird at first. :)

Cheers! :toast:

Oh dear... I just bumped the official HL-Alex thread with responses to some comments I saw there, not all having to do with HLA.

But yeah, yeah, that was my thought, that it was on-topic response - at least, where the thread had gone to - but I see your point. I can repost the content as a VR health thread.
