Attempt to install Windows 7 on an external hard drive fails to boot

A few days ago I wanted to install Windows 7 on my external drive because why not. I go search up how to and shows to use Rufus / WinToUSB and I follow the instructions, setting to Windows To Go and other stuff (Rufus).
Installation finishes, I boot to it and: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."
shows the BSoD, "*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A97E8,0xFFFFFFFFC0000034,0x0000000000000000,0x0000000000000000)".
Have tried installing it on MBR (BIOS / UEFI), GPT (UEFI), unchecked the extended labels box, even googled the 7B stop code which showed something about "regedit, IaStorV, msahci, set the 'Start' key to 0" and "Try plugging it into the USB 2 port" which neither helped.
Also tried another Windows 7 ISO File to install, didn't do anything. UEFI to CSM and back, nada.
No other search results helped or related to my problem and now I'm here, waiting for a response that may or may not fix the current problem, or just giving up if nothing helps.

External hard drive in question: (Intenso) MEMORY CASE 1TB

Specs:
MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-10100F CPU @ 3.60GHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, previously GTX 770
Samsung SSD 980 1TB

Thanks

Problem is the drive controller

Does the external enclosure pass through the drive raw or does it appear as a removable device? Windows 7 and earlier do NOT like that and as @eidairaman1 said this is a controller on the enclosure itself. Some will pass it through; most sit in the middle and get in the way.
