Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro

Is it possible to get X870E xtreme for review, that board looks quite interesting in terms of features without going overboard for aesthetics.

With every new am5 mainboard review i m more happy to keep my current one. That is before even consider the asking price, brand and performance.

No dp 2.1a or dedicated gpu sized two or three mainboard dp connectors. No 6 or more sata ports, no two 10gbit lan, no 7 year instant replacement international warranty.

What board you have?
Never seen a consumer grade mainboard with dual integrated 10G LAN

Not even a Clear CMOS button at the back panel. OC on this board when assembled in a case must be "fun"
Also no Dual-BIOS (with switches). I swear, despite the faster speed USB4 and Wi-Fi 7 and PCIe 5.0 the board designs gave regressed.

It's only a 100 less than my X570 Aorus Master was and X870E Aorus master is 100 more than my X570 was.

Why are manual overclocks no longer being performed and instead just the bios options shown? Is it because of just PBO?

It seems my comment was amusing

Blazing Fast Networks : Dual 10GbE LAN & Wi-Fi 7 & directional Ultra-high gain antenna

A high end board should not be a cheap compromise - there are at least 7 am5 mainboards with dual 5gbit lan or better afaik

Shame there's no mention or testing of the ECC functionality. As of the AMD 800 series chipsets Gigabyte also supports ECC, leaving MSI as the only big manufacturer not supporting ECC on its boards.

I assumed an other X870 board :toast: But still found 1
Gigabyte has a slightly cheaper board with dual 10G lan.
Found some1, no thanks for Gigabyte's filter!

The Gigabyte X870E AORUS XTREME AI TOP actually looks great!, but for this price I would only get a Threadripper platform.
Personally I am okay with a single 10G LAN

I really like the fact a block diagram is included in the review. Ouch the M2B and M2C M.2 slots cut into the primary PCIe x16 slot downgrading it to 8x but I guess that makes sense where the other 2 PCIe x16 slots (at x4) come through the chipset and now I see clearly where the complaints come in general with these newer boards. I would like to have it the other way around where the dual x4 PCIe slots come from from the CPU and the M.2's are driven off the chipsets but I don't know if that kind of board exists.

Bifurcation info on the primary slot would be helpful too. If the top slot supports x4/x4/x4/x4 or x4/x4 when the B and C NVMe's are populated might be helpful to know for those wanting the use the motherboard as a workstation. I don't know if AGESA controls that or the motherboard vendor, or if bifurcation support is universal among AM5 motherboards.

It's just this board. Other X870E boards have 3 M.2 Gen4 slots come from the two chipsets and it's not cutting into anything. I.e. taichi.

What board you have?

My ASUS X670-P Prime Mainboard annoys me since day one. I added an intel ax210 wlan chip in the vertical m2 slot which has additinoal problems.

I want a reasonable priced mainboard or a mainboard which does not give me a bad feeling / impression. I would have replaced it ages ago when there would have been a better offer. I already use a bad compromise (=mainboard) so I have time to choose.

This board looks like a cheap entry board regardless of the "X870E" fancy marketing stuff.

I only liked a handful of board for AM5, of course I only looking on the one with X670 & X870 chip...
The X670 ProART and later the X870 ProART were the best (for my purposes), and I bought the second.
But the overall selections/choices are very disappointing if you ask me.
