Is the battery user replaceble? Unifydrive UT1 has a very short batterylife before it needs to be reconnected and Lexar Workflow go needs a cellphone(not really a cons these days) and seems to be the option for backing up memory cards while in field. If this product can deliver on software where Gnarbox, WD, Seagate, etc... all have failed in past then it would be a great addition for photographers and videographers looking for quick backups without having to lug around laptops(I am heading out for 2 month long expedition to remote islands next year and looking for backup solutions to carry).

Edit: checked the kickstarter page and seems like it uses standard 18650 sized cells(already own 8 high quality high current draw cells) and its easy to replace in field.

What is rather interesting is, that this device can't fully use PCIe 4 or 5 NVMe devices, it will throttle them back to PCIe 3 speeds (hardware limitation)

It also will have a 'turbo-fan' in the enclosure, but judging by the size, I don't see it being that powerful without being pretty loud

They are using StationCloud/StationOS, which is a big unknown, does this phone home at all, where are the servers located, and I am also wondering if anything will be encrypted?

I do like the concept though

USB Interface is limited to 10Gbps and network interface seems to be a 2.5Gbps NIC anyways so even a PCIe 3 is overkill and PCIe 4 and 5 SSDs would be under utilized. Infact I would much rather go out and buy PCIe 3 SSD for this NAS. With regards to phoning home, just block it from connecting to internet(using firewall rule) or use it for private network.
