For the Steam Deck the top most played games for 2024 are:
  • Fallout 4
  • Palworld
  • Dave the Diver
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Hades
  • Vampire Survivors
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Elden Ring
  • Baldur's Gate 3
  • Stardew Valley
  • Balatro

I really wouldn't expect performance hogs like Cyberpunk 2077 to be one of the most played games on steam deck but I guess popular games remain popular.

Well, I wouldn't expect any first-person game to be popular on any console, but hey ho, what do I know about the ways of the modern man. :ohwell:

Another thing: I just got my Deck LCD and it's freaking awesome! The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is a bit of backlight bleed on its left side. Although, my main PC monitor has some, too, so eh, whatever.

Yet another thing is the charging status LED. It's constantly on whenever the thing is plugged in, regardless of battery level. Is there a way to know whether it's fully charged or not without turning it on?

Unfortunately, the deck LCD doesn't have a multi-colored LED. The Deck OLED has it though.

yeah, OLED is the only way to get rid of backlight bleed for any screen

I think most people don't care about fps like a lot of us here do.

The track pads are a game changer for fps games.

That's a shame. Is there at least a setting for the LED to switch off when it's fully charged? There's no point having it as a plug-in indicator.

My two TVs and phones don't have it as badly as my monitor and now the Deck. Not that it matters much, I don't fixate on it when playing a game anyway.

Interesting. I'll have a go, but I don't think my experience will be as good as it is with a mouse.

Odd that you guys have bleed. My Day 1 LCD has no bleed.

It will never be as good as a mouse but it can get close. Look up a track pad tuning guide on youtube or something.

Maybe Valve switched to a cheaper panel for later batches?

Hey I have a question… say I want to play a fighting game on the steam deck like street fighter 4 can I connect a controller via Bluetooth and set that controller has player 2 and the controls on steam deck is for player 1

I haven't tried to see if a Bluetooth controller can be used while using the integrated controller, but it's not going to be a great experience for the guy with the Bluetooth controller, imo. Not being close to the screen and dealing with the micro movement of the deck due to the other player using it.

haha i know but if you are in a confined space like economy class in a plane could be better than the games offered on the plane :)
or it would be better to connect two bluetooth controllers and set them to p1 and p2 i dont know how many devices ya can connect

Hmm, I'm going to japan in may with 3 friends, I will need to explore that too but I'm afraid it will not be worth it for 24 hours of plane on a 3 weeks travel.

I'm gonna try this later this day.

Oh Japan… brings back memories. Two controllers mean extra things to carry….

I don't think I'll be taking my steam deck at all, I don't think I'll have much time to use it away from the plane. I think a tablet and my phone with an external battery will be enough, and maybe my switch instead of the steam deck.

I just installed decky loader and then added the Frame Gen plugin and wow it's nice. Almost doubled the performance.

I wouldn't take it to Japan, just plug in your phone and watch offline movies or anime in airplane mode. I been considering going to Japan this spring too, too afraid though with the language barrier. Plus, I have a bad habit of getting lost. Google maps told me the wrong way here in England just last week and it was a nightmare.

This works for any game? I would like to give it a go myself... hmm.

Any game that has DLSS support. It's basically replacing DLSS with FSR 3.1. It's pretty slick and quick to setup. I haven't found a game yet that i can't use it on.

Just login to steam desktop. Then open a browser and search Decky loader or just https://github.com/SteamDeckHomebrew/decky-loader. Then click download. It's a big button. Once that finishes downloading move the installer to your desktop (This will resolve any security issues that you would run into trying launch it from the download folder). Then launch it.

Then in another tab search for Decky loader frame gen or just https://github.com/xXJSONDeruloXx/Decky-Framegen. Once that finishes then move it to desktop as well.

Then return to gaming mode from desktop mode. Once it finishes loading then click the button on the left with the 3 dots. Then select the bottom tab. Select the cog wheel on the top right. Then install plugin from zip. Select the zip folder you downloaded then put on your desktop.

Once that installs then restart your deck. Then on startup click the 3 dots again and select the bottom tab. Then you'll see Decky Framegen. Click it then you'll see Install FG Mod. Click it to install. That's it, then you will see your games listed below. Each game will have a button for Patch and unpatch to patch the game. Once you patch the game or games then go into the game then in graphics setting select DLSS. This will be FSR 3.1. It's cool because you can run your game regular then just select DLSS and see the performance boost. I'm sure I missed something.. lol Just search it on youtube there are plenty of tutorials within the past 7 days.

Does it detect which games already have DLSS, so I am not just guessing which games I can click "patch unpatch" with?

Yeah if its in the list then it supports it. It works pretty slick.

I've just tested this in Boomerang Fu and it works, when I press the join button on each controller I have 2 players ready to throw boomerangs.

I haven't tried to play the game, but it should work since it's two different controllers.

I tried to do a shell swap. I made a horrible mistake. I pierced one of the ribbons. Now I have no display output. :(

Let's see some pics of it. Looks like a common mistake but fixable. Link to ribbon cable. I still want to see pics of it and the new shell. lol I want to do it but I might buy some ribbon cables just to have on hand.. lol

All I know is, after seeing the Nintendo Switch 2, I love my Steam Deck even more!!! Have you hugged your Steam Deck today? If not then why not?

The biggest thing for me is how Nintendo just simply doesn't give a crap about ergonomics. I would've been a lot more interested if they made it designed for human hands.

Yeah, although they could probably fix the ergonomics somewhat with custom joycons given that they are removable. I don't like the idea that they use magnets though. I also don't much care for the fact that they don't use hall effect sticks because you know the drift will be worse then my attention span for their (Nintendo Switch 2) product,......yeah,....I said it :D:cool::sleep:
