don't blame yourself. It will be obsolete after 3 years anyway so take it easy:)

It’s fine, it passed as you said. The moment it posted I’d consider it a win.

Numerous times. You aren’t even a Sr system builder until you’ve unfucked a socket with a dental pick or corrected CPU pins with a credit card maybe you even wrote a guide on these very forums about cutting a staple to replace the pin you ripped off. Iv even graciously relieved PCBs of there SMDs with a screw driver only to remake the connections with a circuit writer pen. It’s a rite of passage. Now nothing scares me.

HAve you checked which pin you had bend? I think it's better to know before, so you know what to test.

8 pins in 2 rows on my 5800X3D was my most recent.

I saved it with a razor blade, before I got glasses so it was extra challenging lol..

Man that takes me back to when I wrecked an old AMD Opteron (at the time brand new) in the same way. Was a sad day for me, because I ultimately sold it "not working," but a happy day for a random ebay buyer, because they wrote back to say they were able to fix it!

Most pins are very forgiving - ONCE! As long as you were able to straighten it, and the system booted, you are fine. But don't bend that same pin again or odds are it will break. Then you are likely hosed.

I let it sit for 3 weeks lol.. it bugged me every single day :D

I did it on a weekend morning when the house was still quiet, the effort and intensity to focus on a blur of gold was impressive

is it true that once the cpu is seated one should not plug in-out the cpu very often. according to rumours, the bending capability of pins are limited. Is that correct?

 honestly am shaking and sweat so much, but its true maybe in the future i wont panic anymore this is first time in my life have pc and bent a pin

and i test it with 2 cpu and both work try 3 times and all always post :toast:, just a bit worry because 1 of the pin(DRAM PIN) is look ugly, but like you said its work so yeah :peace:

thanks , the problem is it will be a little hard to sell it here, and if sell something i am honest man i tell people the flaw

thansk for all the reply  honestly i am really shock my hand still a little bit shaky

What rumors? Its not rumor. It is just fact. Even a carbon steel rod will eventually become brittle from metal fatigue and break after being bent back and forth so many times. That's how airplane wings break and fall off, and they designed to flex.

Thanks. Who knows maybe the old type of motherboard was better for longevity.

I have unbent many CPU pins with mostly precision needle nose. These were already bent when I arrived. Then they started making these weird angled contacts on the socket and made flat contacts on the CPU. I have bent a couple by dropping a tool right onto the socket as the board lay on the table waiting for installation. I used an Xacto super pointy angled blade to get under it enough to get a flat head micro screw driver under it to get it back into proper angle/position. I love that sinking feeling you get when you screw up and there is no one else to blame.

Huh? What are you talking about? Motherboard pins have essentially gone unchanged since the beginning of time - before that really. They have always been easy to bend and have always only tolerated being bent and straightened again a very limited number of times - often just once - if lucky. It has NOTHING to do with the fact these are on motherboards. Small "pin and socket" connectors have always been that way.

Bent pins have been a problem since skt 478, whether zif or lga. It's a common occurrence due to people not heating up the cpu first then twisting and lifting the heatsink off, and not verifying where pin 1 is on the cpu and socket before inserting it.

Yeah, the old water block would stick to them big time (478) especially using Arctic Silver 5.

I also dropped a couple of cpu's (478) on the tiles and bent some pins (after a few beers lol) but simply straightened them up using a basic Swiss army knife.

Purchased a few mobo's (cheap) off eBay with bent pins, straightened them up no worries and got them booting. Even had mobo's booting off completely snapped pins as they were VSS.
