PI5 in deskpi case with nmve not recognized,is the cable in the right way?
It is such a delicate cable dose it look right to you?
Fail to open nvme?

I have just seen this
The Raspberry Pi 5 has issues booting from an NVMe SSD when the SSD is connected behind a PCIe switch or bridge, as the bootloader only enumerates devices directly attached to the external port and not those connected through a switch.23 This could indicate that the PCIe cable might not be connected correctly, or there could be a compatibility issue with the specific NVMe SSD or PCIe switch you are using. Additionally, the Raspberry Pi 5's external PCIe port only exposes one lane, which might not be sufficient for some NVMe SSDs that require more lanes.3

It is also possible that the issue is not with the PCIe cable but with the PCIe switch itself, as the Raspberry Pi 5's bootloader does not enumerate devices behind a PCIe switch.2 You may want to try connecting the NVMe SSD directly to the Raspberry Pi 5's external PCIe port to see if the issue persists.
Would i get the faIled to open the NVME if the cable was not conected the right way?Or not conected at all?The conector is so delicate i don,t want to keep on disconnecting it.Boot mode NVME 06 order f4.The NVME worked on my PI4 argon case.

Is this the right way to put the pci cable in 2660?I can see why people on Amazon sent the case back. :(

I can see why some cases give you two of those PCI cables.

The same NVME is working on external drive,

Was this taken before or something? Because it has to be a joke; nothing is plugged in correctly between the boards.

That was just to show you if that was the right way round to plug it in.
I see hmmm it looks a little smooshed. I would unplug from both ends and try to flatten out that wrinkle. Then I would slide it in again.

These are ZIF like, it shouldn’t require you to “press” it in at all with any amount of force over the normal.

I would be worried that kink damaged it though they can be quite fragile. I would reseat the NVMe for good measure though! Your already there doing it after all.

thats rotten luck. I would just recycle it and use it in something else or to have onhand and but a small drive of the ones supported.

You did well fixing though, I would disassemble the whole thing, I would just replace the drive. The less the ribbon gets touched the better.

Thanks for the that Solaris17 :)I know that ribben is very delicate.I got the one Lee was using for £2 less than on Amazon usealy Amazon is a lot cheaper.I was using the Sata one in my PI4
Argon case i will sell it with that case.I will put all the screws in one of the bags that came with the case so i don,t loose them.Everything back in the box.:)

There are mechanical dimensions.
There are notch dimensions for the m2 slot, see wikipedia

There are electrical things

There are protocol things. especially sata vs pci express. Very rarely there are usb cases and mainboards which can read both in the same slot.

Booting requires something which can be read from the bootloader and the firmware, at the time of Power on self test. That is different as to what can be read after the box is running succesfully with init 1 process with the linux kernel and the gnu userspace.

You are most likely using a non standard bootloader wiht unknown feature set. What does not exists in teh bootloader - bad luck.

That will also not work on most laptops. Although last time I removed from a cheap hp laptop a defective, ~3 years, M2 sized 22x80mm drive with SATA electrical protocol to replace it with M2 22x80mm pcie electrical one. Most desktop mainboards e.g. B550 / x670 can not read m2+sata SSDs.
