fk me that is expensive. i would say get msrp rtx 5080 instead at that price, but those are all like minimum 1500-1600 now... so.... i guess yeah this is cool. my xfx 7900 xt died on my one time, but xfx replaced it with a brand new unit within a week through rma, xfx is best company for gpu's, so yeah def enjoy that!

Ive had a fan running over both of them since I started.
Then maybe the DRAM/SLC cache overflowed and the drives are naturally this slow without it? :(

Possibly. Its shoved in a corner somewhere and I dont exactly need the drives for a while now so its fine to leave it and see if it ever completes the cloning process.

::EDIT::

Actually you might be very right about it being super slow to clone.

Do we get some latency tests now? :p

I was sick of how hot my room was getting. In the middle of summer, while gaming and with my server running, it can get up to well over 80°F.

Running the central air works, but once the rest of the house is cool, obviously it stops. Since the heat sources are in my room, that's a problem.

So today I got a mini-split installed.

Now it's actually a nice temperature in here, even while gaming.

It's a 9000 BTU 18 SEER unit from Mitsubishi. On the lowest setting, it's exceptionally quiet (and I'm a silence freak), and so far it has been great.

Even the outdoor unit stays very quiet during operation (much quieter than our old central system).
Just curious, why are they called mini-split in the US? They don't tend to be all that small and in the rest of the world they're just split AC or heat pumps.

It's because the system is split into two parts instead of a single unit like more traditional window mounted units.

GPU prices are crazy high nowadays,.. I buy all my hardware with BTC so I'm limited to Newegg for shopping using the BitPay option.

XFX 9070 XT Invoice ID:

Newegg RTX 5080 price,.. plus tax, shipping and the network cost for sending BTC is insane. :)

Yeah, but why mini?

Would have loved to grab a 9070 XT but the markup is insane 30%-40%, bringing the price on par with a 5070 Ti. I couldn't justify that markup.

Was able to grab a 5070 Ti for $825 which is 'only' 10% markup. Can't seem to do much better in this market

I'm assuming because a central AC system also qualifies as a split and this just further identifies it as something separate.

The sticker is waiting for new mobo cpu and ram ;), and the sticker did not said when i should peel it of xD

It's smaller than a normal central split system, which are very common in the US.
You're thinking of Central ducted air, it's not a split system

They are generally split systems in the US. Package unit are around but are much less common.

Split systems are any system with separate indoor (evaporator) and outdoor (condenser) components.

A new set of Soundcore Life A1. I managed to lose the last set.

No, they're talking about split heat-pump type systems. There are systems rated for whole home cooling and warming and then there are the system like the one they got which are aimed at smaller space or single rooms.

When it gets here I'll post the pics of the Google Pixel Tablet I just bought for when I do overnight guard shifts

Well, after much hemming and hawing I caved after seeing that Microcenter had Asrock Taichi 9070XTs in stock aplenty. Having originally placed my order for the Hellhound 9070xt on April 28th and stillll looking at a Friday delivery. I couldn't take anymore waiting (not to mention having no idea when I'd be able to get a block for it). So, I cancelled the Hellhound(you lose Amazon), drove through the hellacious Detroit traffic/construction to Microcenter (a 45 min drive one way turned into an hour and a half, ugh) and came home with this lovely jewel and a big ole hole in my wallet. Honestly, the biggest factor for the change of heart was the idea of having to run my loop indefinitely without the GPU underwater. That's like going to school in your underwear. :/

Ordering the block as soon as I can remember how to find Alphacools American/NA site...where did it go? Where's Eddie when you need him?!IMG_20250511_183950190_HDR.jpg

Hope you paid a reasonable price.

I'm really surprised how many people are going for the 9070 XT, don't get me wrong I love AMD, but even the fanboy that I am kind of sees the superiority of DLSS4 and multi frame gen.

I kind of regret not getting 5070 ti for MSRP when I had the chance. oh well. too late now
