SATA-IO Publishes "AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000 WX-Series" Page

In the weeks leading up to Computex 2025, industry watchdogs have noticed an uptick of next-gen Ryzen Threadripper PRO processor inside info leaks. AMD leadership is expected to introduce "Shimada Peak" 9000WX CPUs during a May 21 on-stage presentation. Despite the company's continued delivery of "silent treatment," external partners and other associates have alluded to an imminent arrival of Zen 5-based workstation-grade processors—very likely positioned as natural successors to Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX (Zen 4) options. As of May 6, the Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO) website has produced another "official leak." The independent/non-profit body's recent publication of a dedicated "AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000 WX-Series Processors" page was highlighted by VideoCardz. "Shimada Peak's" certification seems to pave the way for a looming launch; perhaps shortly after a rumored unveiling in Taipei, Taiwan. Processor technology observers reckon that a non-PRO 9000X series will arrive at a later date—so far, succeeding generation Threadripper leaks have not outlined an adjacent High-End Desktop (HEDT) line. Unfortunately, SATA-IO's latest repository update does not contain any additional supportive info.

The 32 core looks to be the sweet spot. The RAM is what kicks the bill up. Gotta have at least 1 TB.

The 12 core (9945X probably) seems pretty interesting. Perhaps budget HEDT (anyone else remember stuff like the i7 7800X?) will make a comeback!

I think the days of "affordable" HEDT setups is long dead. Back in the Sandy Bridge E days, 600-700 USD could land you a 3820 and a half decent 2011 board. Now you're probably going to be paying north of $1,000 for the CPU, and almost $700 for the motherboard if you wanted something better than what the AM5 offers, which would be at least a 24c system. I hate to say it, but "budget HEDT" simply doesn't exist anymore.

Lol I dont understand this point... if I'm spending 5k+ on a cpu then 1k more for a new mobo isn't a big deal, actually I prefer it as i get newest i/o... This argument makes sense for ryzen am5 platforms with $600 cpus and 1k high end boards but not this...

It's really no different a concept than AM4/AM5 cpu upgrades just the placement in the economy of scale is different. If I could drop in a 99YYwx to replace a 5955wx and get a 60%+ performance increase with only the hassle of repasting and heatsink removal/replacement it is well, would be a nice option to have. I get what your saying but on the other hand if you can get 90% of the performance you want from a CPU upgrade for 1K, on an existing platform, then why spend 6K if you don't want to? Unfortunately there is no option for this on Threadripper because there is little to no competition in this space. Unlike AM4/AM5 Threadripper already has excellent Memory, PCIe, and I/O options that can last a long time, adapt to changing needs over time, but ironically zero future performance options other than more cores. Now if you need that future PCIe 6.0 and USB-9 Gen6 I/O then by all means dish out that 6K, not an issue.

True I agree for the TR Pro platform and for a studio with 100 workstations the 1k a board adds up quick, but for the HEDT segment is more oriented to enthusiast/home or small buisness workstations, like me for instance, custom glycol chilled loop with 6 pumps, and industrial chiller and over 2000mm of radiator... Im basically a masochist!! Obviously I would never recommend or consult a studio to go the route I go, because I'm an enthusiast of the hardware itself... From my observations it seems the HEDT platforms have always been on the enthusiast/workstation line 50/50. This segment is usually into the hardware more then even the gamer crowd, which tends to lean on "as long as the performance is there, i dont care" .... Like look at the Epyc multi socket boards, very bare and basic aimed at the data centers that just care about the performance/space ratio... boards on average are cheaper then the HEDT stuff... IMHO if some1 is buying a 5k+ hedt segment cpu then they love the hardware, so to me when buying into a new socket is really not a big deal when the board is 10%-20% the price of each of the big 4 (cpu, GPU, ram)... spending 10-20k on the cpu, ram, gpus then 1k more for a mobo dont seem like it would be even close to a deciding factor...
