I've just done some quick testing for you on my RTX 3070, I'm quite surprised but thought I'd share the results with you

I tested the card in about a 22C ambient temp according to my temp sensor thingy in the conservatory
So here goes, FAH running on my EVGA RTX 3070 XC -

Now with this setup was the 80% Power limit. Same fan speed was used throughout 70%. I was noticing the power of the GPU to be dropping down to about 155w and then ranging to where it was about 190w depending on whatever it was doing in the work unit.
Next up, 100% power limit -

Now as you can see in the pic, the power of the GPU was hitting about 210w (I think it went a little higher, by a couple watts or so) and then dropped down to about 180 to 190w depending on the work it was doing. Temps also went up about 3 or so degrees, in the short time I was using the changed power limit.
I also have a wattage meter plugged into the PC, so I did also have a look at the total wattage the system was pulling, whilst it was doing some Milkyway CPU crunching. The total difference was about 20 to 25W depending on the point I was taking a reading, but it was generally quite stable as it wasn't 300w one minute and then 400w the next, the difference was around 3 to 5w or so..
What I was having a look at also was the prices of the GPUs as well, which was utterly mad in my thinking but thought I'd share some with you as I was interested and thought, I had a few minutes spare for a change
So first up, an RTX 2080 Super, with water block -

For me I'm fussy, I'd like something complete but this was card only and only any interest if you have a water loop, but if not.....

RTX 2080 TI, not a bad card at all, its a shame the seller isn't 100% positive but mileage may vary I guess

The exact card I have been using for the testing this evening, in honesty, pretty decent pricing I think??

If you believe the 10 hour Minecraft use, there we go

Next up, similar card, different cooler...

Now for me, the difference in the price, I'd probably consider the FTW since I'd like to hope it would be cooler and quieter since the cooler is a little bit bigger and so on... I can't remember though if that came with a box but that's another point and story

Next!!

And another 3070 FTW, maybe worth the extra $1 if you've got a thing for boxes, I'd have to

Another look into a little something newer I thought...

Now reading the description on this one I was a little intrigued but since it had just had the water block fitted and not used, I'd be concerned... But that was the cheapest 4080 I could see.. Which I was well, gutted about and thinking what the heck is going on...
I thought I'd check out a RTX 3080, so the XC and FTW versions like with the 3070 above... Found these...

So about a $100 difference for the XC and then the FTW card...

I'm going to guess they start to go up in price from this but again, $400 for a 3080, I feel that's its not a terrible bargain?? Well, bargain in the loose sense of the word I think... Card prices today are just crazy... I didn't even bother with the 4090 or 5090....
But with all the prices and cards aside, I thought I'd dig in a little deeper as well and see how they ranked in FAH, so I used this web site -
FAH GPU Ranks
Here's a snippet for each of the cards and their ranks.. Top dog isn't tehe 5090 but one of the very expenisve Nvidia GH100 cards... 80GB RAM... Yeah, not budging for one of those to try and keep up with
@SmookinJoe and
@NBrock !!

And here we have a comparison for a number of cards, Nvidia and AMD just to cover a few bases....

Now there was a point in a way for me doing this as well, as just capturing prices and such because I wished to know what all of the FAH team was running and when they buy cards for the FAH work, do they get something that works for other things first, like gaming performance or do you specifically buy cards just for FAH?
If you are buying just for FAH, what do you look for most in the card? I've copied a number of cards that I own myself and have used for FAH. Since the work units are getting bigger, longer and tougher to do, I'm trying to consider the most efficient and cost effective card to buy myself also. As mentioned before, the 3070s and 3080s I've got here, where mainly from mining but I wanted to put them to better use after that was done, so they are used for my girls PCs for gaming, whenever they do that
I've been toying with a 3080/4080/4090/5080/5090 range of cards but I can't see any reason to buy the newer series of cards due to the prices of them... 4080s going for $1000+ to maybe $1500 a piece - if I tried doing that for the 10 plus machines I have, I'd not be able to eat or something for a year to afford them

I kinda like eating.......

lol I think the 3090's prices are about the $650 to$750 ish price so for double the money you can get the 4080 and up, which does give you a load more points for the day, similar power usage I think??
So, over to you all for your thoughts and comments on the above and what you'd consider too

Apologies for the long post!!
