I voted yes, I will buy 5090, but not directly.

By not directly, I mean, 5090 equivalent in the form of 6080 (SUPER/Ti) or sth like that.

As an example, the 4070 Ti (aka 4080 12GB) is faster than 3090.

The upcoming 24GB 5080 SUPER will provide 4090-like performance, as another example.

PC gaming (GPUs in general) is interesting roughly up to 1000-1200-ish USD price point, beyond that, it's simply just too dear to dish out.

What do you do when you have stock of 5090s and 5080s collecting dust because the market is rejecting the 1.5x to 1.75x over msrp? Announce price hikes. :kookoo: :banghead::wtf:

update: bottom of the barrel in the lineup is not helping NVidia's strategy. How low will gigabyte 5090 go?

Until Xe3 / UDNA bring the competition to the 80 / 90 class segments, things won't improve much.

lol they are practically giving aware arrow lake.

Hopefully NL will turn things around, or AMD will become the new Intel, and that, is not a good thing.

Guess on the 5080 super pricing?

Watch it be 1,200$ like the 3080 Ti. That seems to be Nvidia's favorite number when they smell the chance to take advantage of a bad market.
The message they are saying publicly ; is the oppositive of that ($1200 ) you are saying. This based on current market conditions. it seems Nvidia 's price hike outlook is more of the last hora for the naive customer?
Imagine if my 2 month prediction was right everything will normalize by black Friday.

on europe at least, they are not selling anymore, all the shops have stock, even the Founders Edition that lasted nanoseconds the first drop, few days ago, was in stock for almost a day.

I ended purchasing one, the batch was of 288 units, and those 288 as I said, lasted a whole day before running out of stock, and with 2250€ as price, even lower than the initial 2400€ price as nvidia adjusted the price when the eur / usd changed.

I don't think they are gonna be able to maintain the actual prices as the new normal prices forever. Consumers after a few weeks when the fomo is gone, don't buy them anymore.

Don't think the 6090 will lower the price, but they will probably let the inflation eat the real cost to the customer in the next generations, maintaining prices.

finally got some free time, so I go and grab the Astral 5090 LC OC :D

Let us know how well it does over the 4090.

I'm still waiting for prices to drop a little further before I pull the pin. I'm wondering if it's worth waiting for the 5080 Super now to see what that does to the market?

Congrats!

Cheapest 5090 I can find on my usual sites is $5499AUD, or 7.85% of my yearly take home wage. It's getting pretty bad here! :(

At that point you could also wait for the 6080 or the 6090 but then the 6080 Super could be leaked right after release ;-)
Seriously, the next best thing is always around the corner but IF the 5080 Super is coming soon, WHY would they drop the price of the 5080 when there is zero competition in that segment? And if the 5080 Super is, say $1200 or more (USD) then is it worth it over a 5080.

It's probably more a case of supply and demand. Technically there will be more supply which means prices may drop, not a given I know and def not for a 5090, it's just an expectation of mine I suppose.

I have slowly watched 5090 prices drop over the last 4 months. How much longer do I want to wait? 5090's here down under have been close to 7k AUD but they are now @ 5.5K AUD.

I'm probably looking around the 4-4.5k mark which I personally think is a more rational decision.

So where do I shop for one of those? Card will be water blocked eventually too.

Has popped up again. Was sold out but they must have had cancellations.

Hmm not sure about that. If you scroll down total comes to 7.2k.

Edit: maybe that's just a total parts list because if you click on the blue "7800X3D / 5090" price comes to 5,388. Definitely food for thought! Will have to monitor it. Thanks!

How did you work that out???

AH, I get it! That $7.2k is prices from other sites

There's the $200 code as well. Seems to still work.

BTW, I paid the extra for the 9800, X870 board and AIO cooler (may not be the greatest but I don't want to immediately take it apart to get another cooler in). Including shipping I'm just over $6k but I figure my 11th gen i7 could use an upgrade anyway
