No Reviews on RTX 5060 on TPU? Or I am not finding it?

Looking to replace AMD RX 5700xt that is having issues.

Everybody in the PC industry is at Computex in Taiwan right now, so nobody has time or the equipment to benchmark it. The lone (big) exception is Hardware Unboxed, who brought a computer to his hotel to test it.

Personally, I'm not really a fan of any tech YouTuber, so I'm totally fine just waiting for the TechPowerUp review.

do you urgently need one? they won't have shortages problems, just wait some more

RandomGamingInHD has some testing. ASUS sent him a card. He's a down to earth budget tester, pretty reliable but doesn't do massive 50+ game/gpu benchmarks.

Here is a Techspot review to wet your appetite until TPU's review arrives, this one is compared with the 4060/Ti and 5060 Ti but does have gaming results against a lot more cards.............

Nvidia "forgot" to release drivers for the "press/reviewers" before they officially release the card for the public + everyone was at Computex(just one more coincidence)and and there you go...Now someone could ask if all of this is purposely done because they didn't want negative reviews before RTX 5060 hit the shelves.....well I don't know you tell me........

Thanks for all for the posts, I honestly want TPU reviews and especially performance comparison chart to quickly know how each card stacks up.

This 5700xt is a pain in the rear. It was having Multi-monitor issues, with randomly loosing connection to monitors when the PC wakes up, for a while I thought it was stupid windows that does that. Borrowed a 6600 and the issue went away. Sent the card to MSI, hoping they will fix it, they kept it for 10 days and returned back with a note saying the issue is fixed. Nothing was fixed, the card exhibited the same issue, even with totally different machine with fresh installed windows and drivers. Gave up and bought a RTX 4070, knock on wood, no issues at all. Since my Son's gaming machine is a single monitor setup, I upgraded his R9 290 to 5700xt and it was functioning fine. Recently it started to develop some weird issues when waking up from sleep, no display, or artifacts or some random color shift. He has to force shutdown or just turn off the monitor and turn it back on, then issue will go away and might come back randomly on next sleep and wake up. It still handles all the games like a dream, except for this annoyance. Just thought before it totally gives up its ghost want to replace it.

My GPU had that behaviour when my PSU wasn't able to supply power properly. Worth a check. Misread how you phrased the problem, I experienced the no display issue and requiring a reset but it was related to high demand and PSU being weak.

As for buying a 5060, the main concern you'll probably read about is buying a new card with only 8GB VRAM.

Your son will be fine if he plays low demand games but may run into limits if he wanted to turn up settings later on in recent AAA games.

Shocking behaviour from nvidia but it's not the first time either. Pathetic, just like the 5060.

Forgot to mention, all our monitors are 1080P, nothing fancy. 5700xt is 8GB, he never complained, all I hear is all the screaming and swearing till 3am playing online with his friends lol

The 5060 is basically a 4060 Ti. Your best bet is probably to wait for the 9060 XT 16 GB to drop, it will outlast any of the 8 GB Nvidia models (xx60 series) and you won't get the "Dad I need a new GPU" so soon :)
You'll find people here mercilessly defending 8 GB cards, but the truth is, they already have problems playing todays games and since you seem to keep your hardware for a long time, you should "invest" in a 16 GB model, the price isn't that much higher.

Yeah, TPU is by far the best review site. Best selection of games with a variety of engines, APIs and they're all decently popular.

It really won't, by the time 16 GB is a game changer, both of them will be woefully obsolete. Really. This maniac "but 8 GB isn't enough!" because some poorly programmed games bug out on these cards is utter absurdity. I'm not seeing the clamor that 16 GB RAM is no longer enough anywhere, yet everyone wants 16 GB GPUs now? What for? So you get CTDs and constant out of memory errors because WDDM is overallocating memory that your GPU KMD demands but your PC doesn't have?

Honestly. I've seen many fads and even more hysteria in the PC community over the years, but this thing of 8 GB GPUs at the entry level for 1080p gamers no longer being enough is by far the most unreasonable of them. It reminds me of the staunch defense of the monumental garbage the AMD FX chips were back in the day. People knew they sucked and people knew they were trash, but they'd defend them to the death anyway.

I'll agree that the 5070 should be a 16 GB card and the 5080 probably should have at least 20 GB, but 8 GB is not gonna stop anyone's fun with a 5060/Ti or 9060/XT, this is a hill I'm perfectly willing to die on. If you wanna play the latest AAAs at ultra settings, then maybe don't buy the lowest end GPU available in the market today.

True, but this time he is going to pay for it using his part time job money. AMD Drivers don't have long support like NVidia, that's why I want to stick with NVidia. Though used 6800/7700 series cards are tempting. And oh his CPU is simple R5 5500 (so not looking for a high end GPU), though investing in the GPU now and later upgrade the platform to something newer makes sense.

BTW, I upgraded my R9 3900x to R9 5900x and was planning to give the 3900x to him, is it a good option when compared to his current R5 5500 (apart from heat)?

If you can get a 6800/6800XT for good money then that's it! If you're comparing 7700/6800, get the 6800 ;)

The 5500 is better in gaming than the 3900X (https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-5-5600g/15.html) The 5500 is just the 5600G with the iGPU disabled, so the gaming benchmarks are the same, and so the 5500 is about ~8% better.

5070 = 4090, so
5060 = 4080
They understated the impact of DLSS 4 tbh. The 5070 gets twice the performance of the 4090 with x4 framegen.

Hello, it's me, I'm one of the people clamoring for 16GB cards. I like textures and WILL NEVER play on 1080p lmao

me too but from everything I have seen I have to agree with.

People be testing the 5060 on ultra high settings and complaining about performance. Yeah it's a budget card. Try medium settings. You'll be surprised how max textures and low textures quality looks the same these days.

Everything is made for consoles and ported to PC. I would like to see a 3060, 4060 and 5060 showdown on medium settings.

…then buy a GPU with more grunt and, accordingly, more VRAM since that’s what you would need to drive 1440p and 4K anyway? I don’t see the issue? 5060, for better or worse, is a card for people still running 1080p screens and mostly playing popular online games and/or just wanting “good enough” performance in mainstream AAA titles on console equivalent settings. So, for the vast majority out there. Just like the 4060 turned out to be. I am not sure why enthusiasts keep deluding themselves into thinking that the maximalist view of “maxed out, 1440p minimum, 120 FPS, Final Destination” is something widespread beyond forums like these.
Mind you, this isn’t me defending NVidia, but the market is what it is.
