Am I Cooked?

That issue happened on ROG Strix X870E-E, them I switched to Crosshair X870E Hero cuz of its revised version in terms of tilt release. That damage occured on E-E model so my complaint is about E-E, not Hero. I also created RMA to Asus about my Zotac GPU
Oh boy this reminds me of the horrible design of the ASUS ROG Strix Z490-G Gaming mATX board. Look at how close the RAM slots are to the main PCIe slot:
Also brings back trauma from the RTX 30xx series ROG Strix cards. They also had really horrible design/quality control. Fans would come loose among other things as reported by many owners(I've used a ROG STRIX 3090 that had a multitude of such issues without ever opening or otherwise tampering with the card).

Is it over for STRIX? I'm staying far away in any case.

That issue happened on my ROG Strix X870E-E motherboard which scratches GPU's. After they fixed that issue on Crosshair series. They even put sticker over PCIe slot on revised versions to inform customers lol.

Existing prebuilt PC owners are gonna have fun with that...

Also wonder how long before the rest that actually have the box forget the removal method.

It should never have been designed like that in the first place, just like many other ROG STRIX products specifically, it seems. Perhaps they just have the wrong people working in that division.

I just removed my GPU twice on E-E and that happened. No comment anymore for aSUS.

So how did it happen anyway? I've used hammers to install GPUs (literally, in the golden age of AGP) and never had damage like that.

The metal cover/shielding/bracket that extends over the socket gap between the fingers can damage the pcb fingers when removed via the quick release directions given by ASUS. The metal covered part of the socket has since been removed on revised mobos. Entirely ASUS at fault here.

It's just the plastic end, no worries.

It's pcb. I would make a RMA with ASUS and ask them that they buy the card for 110% of your purchase price withotu discussion.

their desin destroyed antoher graphic card.

it s not plastic. its the pcb itself. im kinda certain there is nothing in this area. still bigger can ruin functionality when happening in other areas. e.g. someone makes bigger holes in pcb because m3 is too small, makes m6 hole.

I would also make RMA with ASUS and ask them if they cover full RMA for next 6 years for that graphic card. they destroyed it. I looked up any AMD chip based graphic card a few months ago for the warranty terms. Such physical damage means instantly your warranty is void and the card will not even be repaired by any of the amd graphic card board sellers. They have all pictures and text online which shows and explain it quite clear as example.

In europe I would go to the seller and confront him with a hidden defect. And defective mainboard and grpahic card. And ask teh seller to replace both. The customer can not know before buying that asus mainboard that the graphic card will be damaged. The mainbaord can not be used for the intended purpose as any graphic card will be physically damaged. So mainboard is faulty and can not be used. Graphic card can not be used. Both mainboard and graphic card are not in such a state that it can be sold flawless without defects on the second hand market or returned to the seller.

i did not post those rma denied texts and pictures which all graphic card sellers had a few months ago online on their webpages in english.

Would they replace my GPU with equivalent?

I highly doubt that they will replace your GPU.

For a consumer this is not bearable and acceptable. you need to buy a 100€ certified mechanical ruler to stick in the max degree while assembly. This is impossible to do with only two hands

edit: This is more a legal issue now. In austria even the consumer agency does not do things. they only do things which are nonsense. the only thing which can be done. post text, pictures all over the net so it gets widely known. bad press is hte only way. Asus germany did not answer any questions properly for my asus mainboard. email and invoice exists for my x670 mainboard for legal purposes if i am questioned.

I would try my luck on arbitration then consumer court will see what happens. At least its still working

then consumer court
This is a known issue that has been around since the beginning. You can try, but there is no real damage to the card.

You can always ask sure. As for what it is specifically ... it doesn't matter. A whole bunch of PCB can be gone and it wouldn't matter for functionality.

That's not something anyone (hyperbole) in this world does.

Ultimately this is the reason one buys as local as possible, but when it comes to computer hardware it has been proven it doesn't matter (because if it did I'd still have at least two decent stores sort of close to me but I don't because it turns out it didn't matter).
